21million for Benzema - United rumoured to offer

I'd love to see him sign for us but judging by his comments he ain't even gonna consider us.

SO feck YOU FRENCHIE!!!

I've been saying this for ages you plebs

true. you are one of the few good supporters who doesn't get top red syndrome and bash those who want to sign benzema. even ben arfa looked lively when he came on, what do you think? as i said, pure dribbling ability, ben arfa can have the ball glued to his foot, however he is no where near as mature or two foooted as benzema.

He'd be perfect for us. He looks comfortable playing as a lone striker, but could do the job playing off another striker as well. His movement is dynamic enough to fit into our fluid attack. He has got pace and is pretty strong as well.

*wank*

he's better than how good henry/anelka were at 20, in fact, he's ahead of these two in the pecking order for the French national team atm, enough said.

he's already said he won't come to England anyway. Its either Italy or Spain for Benzema. Shame would do well for us i reckon, and at 20 will only get better.

Ben Arfa is good, he’s been in the side longer than Benzema as I saw him play a few years back when Essien was still with Lyon, and he took a penalty for them when he was seventeen in a pre-match friendly versus Spurs and they were talking him up. Since then, he’s not exactly set the world alight but he obviously has much promise but I wonder if it’s required seeing as we have Nani who looks the dogs bollocks.
I’d welcome Ben Arfa but for me, Benzema will be the best striker in Europe at the championships coming up, and every cnut will want to buy him after that. Lyon won’t sell before that as they know they’d only get 20mil for him before, but 30mil after the comp when he’s shown how good he is on the big stage. Is seems strange fergie has saod already benzema is ‘a possibility’, he is usually not so blasé about these things, so that’s a good sign we are looking at signing him, although my concern would be playing him, Rooney and Tevez – it couldn’t be done all at once surely, so it’s keeping them all happy as they are all to me first choice names on the team sheet, and the rotation system wouldn’t please these young lads who want to, and expect to, play every match.

very true. i hope benzema sees how well the likes of his fellow citizens henry, anelka, and saha (all three have similar qualities) have done in the premiership and also sees how fergie has nurtured youth. 28 million + fit saha would be around what would be needed to sway aulas head.

Seems like one we can't afford to lose out but can't afford anyway.

It's either Real, Barca or Chelsea I think.

Won't be Chelsea. I'm pretty confident that if he does join a premier league team, it'll be ours. But I doubt he'll join a premier league team so that counts for nothing. It's Real, Barca or AC Milan.

He was wanking over us in one of his interviews, went on about how we played perfect football and had extraodinary players like Rooney, Ronaldo etc. Besides I dont think it would be too difficult for him to settle in with Evra, Saha and such here.

I just dont like seeing our major transfer targets move on to other clubs and be immense for them, the same happened with ronaldinho ( I know we got a more complete player in Ronaldo later on :D ), he went on to be the best player in the world for Barca and it pains me that he was so close to a transfer here.

Though Id be happy with Rooney, Tevez, Saha and Manucho, providing they stay fit and consistent.

Dunno about Saha plus cash as can’t see Saha going back to France myself; I think his bird is English and he’s been here since he was about 20 years old remember when he started with Newcastle, a long time so England is now his home.
I’ve seen Benzema a few time now and all I can say is all these comparisons with Zidane, Henry, trezeguet etc are warranted as despite the confusion in style, he appears to possess the best qualities of all these players before him which is a very rare thing. I have seen French league games where he runs at pace with the ball at either foot and can dribble the ball to goal without over-extravagance but with determination and strength, and I saw him play for France versus Spain where he was pretty quiet but one moment, he headed the ball against the bar but the technique in doing so was beautiful, he pulled back off his marker and leapt in the air like Michael Jordan and the keeper was well beaten. In that respect, his height and aerial ability is something he therefore posses over both Rooney and Tevez who are similar in build to him and also like to run with the ball, but them two aren’t the tallest and aren’t that much of an aerial threat in the same sense he would bring.

I have heard many say that we only got Ronaldo because Ronaldinho didn’t sign, but we still would have played the pre-season friendly with Sporting if he had signed and Ronaldo still would have took the piss out of John O’Shea and Neville like he did that match and they still would have demanded fergie go sign him, which he would have done regardless in my opinion. Ronaldinho was being signed as a forward, we still would have signed Ronaldo as a winger.
I wonder if we would have signed Saha, Smith and possibly even Rooney if we had signed Ronaldinho though…….

his goal tonight was pretty fecking remarkable, to think that he scored at full pace despite being marked and closed down by pretty much our entire defence.

I try not to get involved too much in muppetry but i think we should do everything we can to get his signature (which may be impossible seeing as apparantly he prefers spain/italy). Still doesn't hurt in trying.

pyshically they look very similar.

He probably still does in secret, just a shame that he joined that 'shit on a stick'

He well wanted to sign for us - he was on programs such as Futbol Mundial every week professing his admiration for Paul Scholes, how Old Trafford was his favourite stadium and how he used to wear his United shirt with Cantona on the back as a United mad kid growing up in Ghana.
Problem was, Lyon priced him at 25mil which United were never going to pay and whilst you could say he is worth that now, there is no way it was justified at the time for an unproven African midfielder.

He was fantastic tonight I thought. I hadn't seen much of him other than goal clips till tonight so I wasn't quite aware how strong the lad is.

Christ. There's times when Vidic just bounced off him. In fact there were times when he picked the ball up and it looked like we'd never get it back from him.

He took his goal incredibly well. And with his weaker foot too that was some powerful strike.

As per the comparisons with Ronaldo, I remember one of his countrymen talking about him. I think it was Leonardo. He said "Ronaldo is the best striker in the world because he can score goals with any part of either of his feet and his head"

Well there are good left footed strikers who cant kick the ball as cleanly and as powerfully as Benzema did tonight to beat VDS. So I can definately see such comparisons.

Rooney, Tevez, Anderson - 3 signings who all have great upper body strength. Benzema would fit right into that list... However.

When was the last time we signed a player who we'd bid for previously and been turned down? Normally when we go for a player, they want to go and they leap at the chance. It might take some talking to the club and re-working the deal but usually we get our man in that window.

This time, like the time we bid for Torres and if reports are to be believed, Gilardinho, we didn't get our man when our bid was rejected... And like those players it may be that we miss out.

Definately a bright future for Benzema though wherever he goes.

he had trials at OT but fergie couldn't sign him because of work permit issues. fecking work permit issues get on my nerves...it should be standardized across europe. the continent has it so much easier with these things than the UK.

Really? Was SAF hell best on signing him even then?

Would have him at United in a second and for 30 million pounds

fergie wanted to take him on at 16/17 years of age..same with muntari. both impressed on trials but of course, if we signed them we would've had to send them to footballing backwater of belgium..surprise surprise, who have lax work permit standards. both of them were better than that so they bided their time for a bigger move to a better league than fecking belgium. kaka was another that didn't qualify for uk work permit..fergie looked at him in 02/03 summer as we had some 'ties' with sao paolo but why would any player worth their salt want to be loaned out to belgium when they can be signed by milan and stay with the first team. possebon qualified for us because he has an italian passport. look what happened to manucho, we're forced to loan him out to greece. Since we are in the same competitions as our continental counterparts, uefa should lobby for all countries within uefa to have standardized work permit rules when it comes to football since it is such a unique industry. i am a big believer of that.

If there is one player I will act like a transfer muppet over then it's got to be Benzema. Imagine him and Rooney up front..

ffs - we only short one player tobe fair, so break the bank for him. Make Lyon an offer they just caanot refuse. and they are arrogant enough to believe they will easily replace him like they did so many times before.
