21% of United's home defeats in PL history have come under Solkjaer

Don’t suppose you could be arsed to do the same for away results? Presumably Ole stacks up a bit better in that table?

It’s actually completely bizarre for us to consistently be better on the road. Makes no sense. Anyone got any theories about why conventional form has been flipped on its head under Ole?

Pandemic.

Crowds were basically not allowed for 18 months which is when we went on a big run. Away games are a different kettle of fish with fans in there. Our away performances this year are already telling.

Don't know about the rest but Ole's league away record is:

Played - 53
Won - 29 (54.7%)
Drew - 14 (26.4%)
Lost - 10 (18.86%)

That's 101 points gained from a possible 159 or 1.9 point per away game.

The stuff that people come out with deary me.

I want him gone like most of the fan base but this is ridiculous.

Great home record from Jose. Let's remember he had a worse squad than our Ole too.

Let's also remember why he had a worse squad. Cos he bought a bunch of terrible players.

Ole will at least leave the next guy with a good squad. Not perfect but not the disaster he inherited either.

I'd guess its due to the pressure of playing at home.

The expectancy changes the way we play. i.e. more of the ball

It also changes how the opposition play being the away team i.e. less of the ball, sitting back.

Both of the above don't suit our ballphobic players one bit.

what’s ridiculous?

that people count it, or the fact it’s true?

No, his home record shows very little difference between crowds and no crowds.

Do you have the data? A quick look shows only two home defeats in the 2019-20 season, then six in 2020-2021, which was entirely without fans. Having said that, this is not the necessary detail of data and a quick Google search that I did failed to unearth clear stats of his record with and without fans.

With crowd:

Played - 32
Won - 16 (50%)
Drew - 9 ( 28.125%)
Lost - 7 ( 21.875%)

Without crowd:

Played - 23
Won - 11 (47.826%)
Drew - 6 ( 26.086%)
Lost - 6 (26.086%)

The difference is negligible to be honest.

This is true but you could argue that this also contributed to his home record being so poor
No more excuses for him. He got fans singing this season in Old Trafford and still came out with shit gameplan and tactics. His home form is incredibly bad fans or no fans

The worst squad members were those Jose inherited himself and had to use because he wasn't backed enough. A past it Rooney, Fellaini, Young, Schweinstieger, to name a few. Even the Alexis signing wasn't really a Jose call and the majority of fans / pundits thought it was a great coup.

Fellaini worse than Dalot? Young worse than Bailly? I don't think so. Jose was plenty happy with the Sanchez signing as well. I'm amazed there are still mental acrobatics going on to defend Jose.

Mourinho had the time and money to build the squad he wanted. He left Ole a mess. Just like LvG left him a mess.

At least this time the next manager only needs to tweak it here and there.

The only reason it's less a mess now is that Ole got more money spent for him. Maguire was someone Mou wanted but was only given to Ole.

Also, Bailey and Dalot were in Mourinhos squad too, so it proves my point he did have it worse. Yet, he managed to get a similar home record to SAF as the stats on this thread show.

Ole has been the worst of the lot since Fergie, whichever way you cut it.

Some more stats:
  • Out of the title race by October
  • Taken 4 points from the last 6 league games
  • Scored 1 goal at OT, in the last 4 league games

With crowd:

Played - 32
Won - 16 (50%)
Drew - 9 ( 28.125%)
Lost - 7 ( 21.875%)

Ok, I stand corrected, this is a midtable home record, even with crowd.

Tactics? At home he has to allow us to play a bit more while you can sit back and counter away?
