America.. :wenger::lol:

Let’s be honest, both candidates are shit. Laughingstock of the World, and considering the US beating Boris and the UK in who are the worst political leaders competition that is some achievement. How on earth did anybody in their right minds ever vote for Trump?!?! The guy is a loon and a nasty lying one at that. Horrible man. Make Americans Look Like Idiots.

Why would a wire be sticking out of his wrist? What do these geniuses think a wire does ? So everything he says on live tv broadcast globally can be recorded ?

MAGA think the democrats are behind a secret worldwide pedophile ring, have organized a global pandemic, are rigging the election, but also think they can't wire a man up properly.

The examples you give show the initial seeds of what can become fascism if left to grow unchecked. But criticising the free press is not the same as shutting it down. Detention centres for migrants are not the same as mass concentration camps for political opponents and ethnic and religious minorities. Screwing with education is not same as shutting down 'liberal' universities and arresting all 'liberal' professors. And so on.

It cheapens the true meaning of words - and what they've represented under Hitler or Mussolini or Stalin (for example) - to use the word 'fascism' in such a throwaway manner.

Fascism is not the current reality in the USA - far from it. But it could become that reality if Trump is not ejected from power this November.

You've answered your own question there bud. Fascism isn't something that appears overnight in any country so the fact that you said that if Trump is re=elected then America could be in trouble means that the beginnings of fascism is already present. If fascism wasn't already present then nobody would think of it as a possibility, especially not in a country that has never had it before. The fact that America and fascism can be used in the same sentence means that there is a problem. You are looking for the end game when I'm sure the other poster is referencing the fact that the seeds have been sown.

It doesn't cheapen the word because the word should never be cheapened. Germany or Italy didn't succumb to it overnight but we should use the unfortunate lessons from those countries to recognise when to nip it in the bud before it can sprout to be full blown. The lesson from history should remain that it can happen anywhere.

Edit: @Suv666 said the same before i realised.

They should give the debate moderator a mike-off switch, so that when it's not his turn to speak Trump's mike should be switched off.
Would be great if they could switch Trump's mike off for his whole debate with Harris.

@Florida Man didn’t say that the US was a full fascist state. He said “fascism is already here”.

Yes it seems to have arrived and maybe was always there under the surface. When a US President says publicly to a white supremacist group to standby that says everything. I really do not understand why respectable and decent republicans( I am sure there are lots of them) do not say anything against this?

So if Biden wins, then we won’t have fascism in the US? Because if you believe that, I have a cheese room to sell you.

I do believe that (assuming that his win translates into being sworn in as President).

Fascism in the USA can only become systemic and state-sanctioned philosophy if it is enabled by a sitting President with a compliant Senate, or if a more or less benign President (which Trump is not) and a more or less benign Senate (which the current Senate is not) is taken down through military coup.

Biden is far from being like Trump. And the Democrat Party is far from being like Trump's Republican Party. If you don't believe that then your powers of perception are truly limited.

I didn't pose any question. And I've already said that the seeds of fascism are already present in the USA. My point is that these seeds will only have the chance to bloom into fascism as full-blown state-sanctioned philosophy if Trump retains the Presidency.

Guys, why didn’t anyone think of that? Just vote fascism away.

It's not as simple as that. But voting against a would-be-fascist President, in a democracy, is an essential part of snuffing it out.

Bro I’m the one living here, not you. This kind of issue extends far beyond what happens in an election. The material conditions are what determine the society. All the elements of fascism are here, with many of them being here for a long time already — the difference being that non-colonized peoples are starting to catch up to the news that oppressed people have been crying out for ages. There have been political killings by the state, political prisoners, loads of reactionaries with their guns coming to intimidate protestors. Some of the organizers of protests from the PSL have recently been kidnapped by police — in their house, in the parking lot of a store, hell, one of them being apprehended by SWAT with tanks. The guy who defended protestors by shooting a reactionary got murdered by police when they showed up to his place at night firing close to 100 shots if not more. My friend who helped organized a protest in Ocala told me that they were outnumbered by conservatives and fascists who were armed 10 to 1. Liberal news doesn’t tell you that.

And if Biden wins, does that stop Trump from going on twitter, on tv, on the wide array of conservative and fascist media outlets out there? Does that stop his cronies from working to influence this trend? And the liberals aren’t going to actually make any substantial improvements to the material conditions of the working people. They’re not going to push back against the contradictions of capitalism. Them bitches spent millions just to brainwash people into being against universal healthcare FFS. So while Biden and the dems aren’t exactly like the Republican party, their policies enable fascism because why? Because fascism is capitalism is in decay. It evolves out of the material reality. There isn’t some magical fascism button to press.

If you believe that then you have no conception of what actual fascism is.

It's mass detention without trial. It's closing down institutions of higher education except those pushing a state-approved curriculum. It's shutting down all free press and media. It's mass-scale concentration camps for all 'dissidents'. It's rule by decree and violence (or threat of violence), with state-approved enactors of that violence given impunity to do whatever they wish. It's all this and more.
Fascism is as much a journey as it is a destination. Fascist behaviour can frequently be seen in US politics in these disgusting times. If you want to tolerate fascist behaviour until your above checklist is marked complete, then you are part of the problem.

What happens if Biden becomes unable to continue his bid for the presidency thru illness?
One strategic cough is all it might take...

Imo he just needs to last 35 more days really. Preferably at least 4 months, but that's not technically required.

Harsh, but we are where we are.

I agree. And I've already said this. But that doesn't change the fact that removing from Trump office via the ballot box is an essential part of snuffing out the seeds of fascism.

To say that 'capitalism' is is the key problem is to mis-label/mis-identify that problem. 'Socialists' are just as keen as 'capitalists' on the endless pursuit of never-ending economic growth - they just want to more fairly distribute the money and opportunities involved.

No, the key problem is the philosophy of technocracy - shared by socialism, liberalism and capitalism alike. It has three main pillars - materialism, scientism (science as as either a reductionist 'religion', or else or pseudo-science in the guise of science) and male-centricity. Of the three, the last is the most significant.

Trump exemplifies all three pillars (in his case pseudo-science in the guise of science) to an extreme degree. Biden is just the far lesser of two evils - because at least he is not a fascist.

Don't be stupid and ridiculous. I've simply pointed the huge gap between fascist seeds and seeing them grow into a full-blown fascist garden.

Finally figured it out. When spurs lose, glaston isnt in india, hes in the woods with ted kaczynski.

Yes, fascist currents clearly exist within today's Republican Party under Trump. But the USA is still far from being a fascist state. That will change if Trump retains power after this election.
That's downplaying it a bit. It doesn't just "exist", as if on the fringe, it is taking over the party. Not only that, is present in the government and the Trump administration.

Interesting. I didn't know a lot about this guy so his name being in the clip below didn't register with me.

Gotta feel for the campaign advisor who said "If Brad had been black, there'd be riots all over the country" after seeing it. More out of touch than George HW Bush in a grocery checkout.

We do. We do indeed. And to top it off, we both live in the South... the part of the US voted “most likely to embrace fascism” as its senior superlative.
