What does ‘embraced’ exactly mean in this context?

No one is banning him from having his say. But just as he is free to voice it, we are free to call it out. It’s not as if the lot of us get together beforehand and planned to dump on him.

We all know most Caftards are heavily leftward leaning with their political views, I think it’s good to have more diversity of views on here and ganging up on posters will just scare off members for being honest about their views. Nobody wants to come out gay or right wing in this forum. So even if you think a view is ridiculous, you don’t have to ridicule that idea and the author on each & every occasion.

Some actually have perfectly rational reasons for voting for him. If you are rich, he is guaranteed to keep your taxes low.
Just don't try and patronize people by claiming the other guy is worse or Trump is not that bad. Just admit you don't care.

What?

Don’t forget the pussy grabbing, «shithole countries», wanting more immigrants from «countries like Norway (no thanks Don) and just being a fat bastard.

We can list a lot more but that bolded part is indeed the most batshit crazy thing he's ever said. Everyone knows Norwegians are just aweful.

:p

I don't ignore them. He lost his mind with the fake election fiasco he's pulling now. No president is above the country. Should just concede the loss and move on, no need to be a sore loser and divide the country any further.

So he hadn't lost his mind when he floated the idea of people injecting bleach as a cure for Covid-19? Or when he repeatedly claimed that the virus would just magically disappear? Or when he said that Democrat concern about the virus was a hoax? Or when he's tweeted support for a wide variety of wild conspiracy theories. Or when he supported the crazy notion that Obama isn't an American citizen? Or when he told American citizens elected to Congress to go back to their own countries?

The list goes on and on and on. And it's long been abundantly clear that the guy is a mix of bat-shit crazy, vindictive sociopath, toddler in an adult body, crypto-fascist, overt racist and more.

But only now you withdraw your support for him?

That’s not how discussion works. People shouldn’t have to self-censor in fear of driving out opinions they find objectionable. If the poster has conviction in his/her own stance, let him/her defend it.

There are also plenty of outlets beyond Redcafe where you can search and engage in political discussion with right wingers. I watched The_Donalds for a year, I’ve been on Stormfront. The internet is free real estate.

Whatever you say bud. Next time I'll run my reasons through you to get your approval to vote.

Just tell people why you voted for Trump.

It’s such a weird condition of right wing folks. Centrists and Left wing voters can give essays on why they cast their vote.

What reasons did you have? If it’s “He leaves more money in my pocket”.... that’s ok. Selfish. But understandable.

So after four years of pure corruption, it was Tuesday night that Trump finally crossed the line. This is where I could pull up a 400+ point bullet list of all the sick, twisted and just plain evil things Trump has done over the last four years that you might assume any single one of them would be a line crosser for any person with a shred of compassion and moral fibre.

I think you are all giving @Giggs86 too much credit by assuming he/she is referring to his despot like autocratic behaviour as the thing which finally had them hold their hands up and say “nah this guy isn’t for me”. That is complete and utter bollocks though. The only thing Trump did on Tuesday night that they simply cannot be associated with is lose the election. Now he’s finally a busted flush once and for all it’s time to disassociate for the sake of their own ego and that tells you everything you need to know about them.

Very well said, thank you for putting that so clearly. Voting for Trump and saying it was only tuesday he crossed the line.. Wow. What a shit thing to say and do

The biggest thing against Trump for me as a foreign busybody sticking his nose into other countries' affairs (hey CIA, I'm available), is the climate sabotage.

He's actively damaged your future economy and the environment by not supporting green tech and instead borrowing money to subsidise dirty coal and oil, enabled biodiversity collapse through supporting complete cockknockers like Bolsonaro as well as in the US with e.g. Dakota Access Pipeline, he publicly called climate change a "Chinese hoax" and pulled out of the already insufficient Paris Climate Accords because Obama did them.

You know what, if you guys want to elect a dude that supports murdering minorities, locking up innocent kids away from their parents, corruption, lying, rape, increasing social and financial inequality, then whatever. Your politics poisons the well of my politics in the UK so it still pisses me off, but in the end you're mainly being horrible to each other. When you vote to bring about the end of the planet we all live on though, then I would happily take a monster madras shit in your snowflake little handbag.

He really thinks that suing the US Government is exactly the same as suing small family businesses to get out of paying them what was promised, doesn't he?

I bet when he gave the go ahead to sue all of these states he leaned back in his chair (almost making it crack in half), rubbed his hands with glee and started fantasising about rooms filled with people shredded fake ballots shouting "God dammit, why did our President have to be such a genius?!"

Come on, people.
It really shouldn't be that difficult to just admit that Trump did a lot of great things in his first term.
Nobody has done more to fix the broken political system in America.
And name another President who managed to bring peace to the middle east?!
Someone, anyone? Didn't think so.

Maybe you should all just let other people have a chance to actually make their points without being insulting all the time?
Ultimately it's using the same divisive tactics that the media have been using for the last four years.
More intellectual debate, less quoting CNN please.

Love it when Trump does stuff like fix the broken economy left to him by Obama.
Only to then have folk just attack all the time because they don't like how he points out the truth about stuff.
Less of the victim blaming, yeah?

Hi, I'm Mr Pigeon and you're watching Jackass.

His presidential term might not have achieved all the things he ridiculously boasts about, but his term has certainly not been without succes either. The question is, how much harm has his style of politics done and what will be the future consequences of policies he managed to get through?

Ah, I found what I was looking for:

https://www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/the-complete-listing-so-far-atrocities-1-967

It even has keys and sources.
This one should have turned people off him from the start

October 7, 2016 – Donald Trump reiterated his false claim that the young men known as the “Central Park Five” were guilty of sexually assaulting a jogger in 1989, despite DNA evidence that exonerated them.

Just remember he wanted those children hanged at the time, and I have no doubt it's because they are black.

I don't know if that's true. Sure, there's a lot of animosity towards Republicans and Tories on here, but is that because this is a forum full of radical leftists or is it because Tories and Republicans have veered uncomfortably far to the right?

For what it's worth, I vote right of centre in Norwegian elections and don't consider myself left-leaning at all, and I don't find the average political opinion on the Caf particularly left-leaning either. Obviously, this has become an international forum and there are members here who live in countries where the political landscape is very different, and what's considered left-of-centre there is right wing in my country.

He wrote a long post on it before, ‘my taxes got lowered’ was on there.

Yup, "but Killary".

Is there an obligation to pick a side? ...

Yes, there is an obligation to pick a side when one side (Trump) is overtly pushing a fascist agenda and when you know that if he could, he would abolish democracy and install himself as dictator-for-life.

Doesn’t really matter what good things have been done by Trump. They all get tarnished by everything horrific he stands for / has done. Doing a few good deeds does not eradicate a history of bad ones.

A person of his type will never be fit to be president. We’re talking about a position at the very very top of the world. Yet he’s a narcissist, racist, misogynist, compulsive liar with no interest for anyone else but his own gain/power. He’s an absolute disgrace to democracy and frankly an embarrassment to the American people. At this point, he’s basically got a cult of 70million people, he knows it and he’s batshit crazy with power from it. Usually I’m one to listen to everyone’s opinions, see all sides. But sometimes you just have to call a spade a piece of shit.

Before it was his personal circus with shits in giggles, yet he delivered and did his job as a president. The lock her up bulshit was Trump being Trump appeasing the lunatics. Tuesday night he crossed the line though from which there's no turning back. Gop disowned him and so did every sane American who loves this country.

Tuesday night he crossed the line?

Not when he was recorded speaking about sexually assaulting women?

Not when he was accused of actually sexually assaulting women and paid cases off?

Not getting into bed with Russia?

Not putting his family into high ranking positions within his own government.

Not when he mocked the death and funeral of an American war veteran?

Not when he was stoking racial tensions and inciting violence across the country he presided over?

Not when he attacked peaceful protesters with tear gas to clear a path for a photo op?

Not when he refused to release his tax returns?

Not when he was deliberately walking away from his responsibilities in helping to protect our planet?

Not when he killed 250,000 Americans with his mishandling of the pandemic?

No, he crossed the line on Tuesday by losing an election. Don't pretend to give a flying feck about decorum or class - if he had won on Tuesday night you'd be on here defending him and glossing over his actions, despite the obvious fact that he was planning exactly this strategy long before the election.

Telling his voters not to vote by mail, attacking the eligibility of mail in ballots, preventing states from counting mail in votes early - everything has been designed to discredit the democratic process incase he lost and you didn't care one bit until he did lose.

I don't know why we still give these window lickers oxygen. Criticising Biden is fine - he's not a great candidate, but everyone with a brain and an ounce of integrity should be celebrating him turfing that fat, orange prick out of the White House.

All I know is that his style of politics has become the political blueprint for countries like my own. There used to be a line that most democratic countries didn't cross and then as soon as Trump showed it was possible to say something wasn't true, even when there was video and audio of the thing, without any real blowback suddenly we had people like the Conservative party start to do it with more confidence.

Biden isn't perfect, but he's not going to bare faced lie all the time to journalists (not in Trump's brazen style, anyway) nor is he going to post things on Twitter that damage the democratic system or call for martial law or insurrection when things don't go his way.

It's because "he owns the libs". That's all there is to it.

He wrote a long post on it before, ‘my taxes got lowered’ was on there.
That's perfectly understandable. I also would love to pay less taxes but think there are things that are more important. I can understand if another person doesn't feel the same.
But don't give me that shit about Biden being worse. It is a non starter.

With the resounding lack of evidence of any wrongdoing so far any case Trump tries to make will get thrown out of the courts long before it gets anywhere close to the SC.
Their case isn't just about fraud but that mail in ballots that arrived after the 3rd should not be counted even if they were post marked by that date.
Is there not a case there?

That's not going to affect the outcome though?

CNN just bashed fox news as conspiracy mongers for a good 10 mins straight, yet didn't call out Murdoch. Missed opportunity.

Well if you prioritise your bottom line above all else then Biden would be objectively worse.

Personally, I find that attitude disgusting. If everyone follows that mindset of ‘I got mine, feck everybody else’, society will collapse pretty fast. And in the case of the US, it did. Just look at the trajectory in their life expectation, health, level of happiness, education compared to the rest of the Western World since they started embracing Reaganomics.
