2019/20 Rivals - Arsenal

I'm always on the side of the Club, if a player refuses to join the Squad, but this Situation is kinda different. So this is a different Situation than Griezmann or Dembele. I think, most clubs would let a player go, who is 34 Years old and has worked for 9 years at the club. For me, this is way different, than Griezmann or Dembele. Koscielny has done his share and earnd somekind of better treatment in this situation.
We sold Erva for £1.5m. He signed a contact. Honour it.

I think Arsenal can finish above United. First season for Emry and he got Europa Final and 5th.

Beat United 2-0 and drew at Old Trafford.

They will invest in the squad be it minimal, the team plays for the manager unlike United.

Nothing to see here, this is just a start and cant wait to get worse, him, Neymar etc.

And lost 3 - 1 to us

Didn't Man. United sell Wes Brown and O'Shea for pretty low fees given their similar levels of experience and service to Man. United.

Sunderland probably offered good wages but I don't remember the fees being that high.

Koscielny is pretty old now and gets many injuries but Arsenal have such a weak set of CBs he's arguably still their best one. Bit surprised at clubs he's been linked with, thought he'd go on strike if PSG, Marseille, Monaco or Lyon were in for him.

Has anyone in the history of football gone on strike to try to force a move to Bordeaux?!

He already gave his best years to Arsenal, and he is looking for a 3 year contract. I don't blame him. Worst case he will probably buy out his contract. He won't play for Arsenal anymore.

Koz is chucking a decent legacy away with this show.

It kind of reflects the whole attitude of the modern version of football and footballers in general.

If nothing else, it was a bit of news that silenced the crickets for a moment.

Is it just me or are Arsenal on a downhill slide?

If they have a poor xfer window, which it looks like so far and just sort of keep afloat the likes of Spurs will pass them. Spurs already made a statement of intent with the Ndombele signing, all im hearing from Arsenal is contract rebels and failed Zaha bids.

They've got terrible squad depth. Which I think defines the difference between the top teams and those chasing like Everton, wolves. There's not much difference between arsenal and those below them.

Respect your opinion 100% but disagree with it. Due to the minimal investment, I think it is going to affect them. If we sign a few more players and Ole gets us playing at the intensity he wants, I think we will finish above them.

He signed the contract and is getting paid. If he wants to leave he can do so when his contract expires.

Yep.

Apparently he was promised he could go last year. This will be his last contract, don't blame him for sticking to his guns, when he has no sell-on value as it is.

Nah it's bullshit. He's signed a contract, if the club choose not to sell him or change their minds that is their perogative.

If I was Emery I'd sit him in the reserves for a year.

If they gave him their word and went back on it, it's also his perogative to kick up a stink.

Arsenal can't afford to sit him in the reserves. That's also why they aren't just letting him go.

Arsenal will finish above Chelsea and United. Leicester will finish above all three.

They say that there is a fine line between genius and insanity. You are so far past that line, you can't even see the line.
If they keep Maguire and Chilwell then I see no reason why they can't make an assault on the top four. No European football to worry about, lots of young players entering their peak years, United, Arsenal and Chelsea all potentially capable of having their worst seasons for a while. City, Liverpool, and Spurs will be miles ahead of the rest, but that fourth spot could go to just about anyone between Arsenal, United, Chelsea, Leicester and Wolves.
Schmeichel
Ricardo, Evans, Maguire, Chilwell
Tielemans, Mendy
Barnes, Maddison, Gray
Vardy

Jakupovic/Ward
Justin, Morgan, Soyuncu, Fuchs
Ghezzal, Ndidi, Choudhury, Albrighton
Perez, Iheanacho
And that's if they don't make any more signings, which I imagine they will - they've been linked with Dennis Praet in recent days. Throw in the fact that Rodgers' current win-rate with them is 50% and you've got to fancy them to nudge the top 6 at the very least. Don't write them off so easily.

We couldn't even give Ozil away for free, the wages he's on.

Since Ole has taken over a squad that is in crisis, he finished better than Emery, he completely outclassed emery both legs, only 2-0 he lost was the flattering result for Emery.

United spent 60m on players, likely to spend another money on Maguire if the news were believed.

Any Gooners on here know if the Arsenal website is down?

I think they’ll struggle massively this season. Decent forwards but dreadful rest of the squad.

What is even their best 11?

Surprised the amount of comments saying Arsenal will finish ahead of us.

They lost Ramsey and therefore have gotten substantially worse. We have improved RB with AWB (one of the most crucial positions for us) and look set to improve at the back with Maguire. We should also get a Herrera replacement in Bruno as well as wildcard James and perhaps another couple of young signings.

I really see Arsenal struggling this year, especially if their 40£ M transfer budget is real.

Arsenal fans will soon to realize that Wenger leaving isn't all that rosy, if they are not careful and don't strengthen their squad this transfer window, there's a possibility they could drop to a mid-table team if teams like Wolves, Everton, Leicester does well and break up the top six. That could also be said the same for us.

Exactly, we're not going to set the world alight but surely we're going to finish above Arsenal. I'm assuming we'll make 2 more signings as well.

Don't see how anyone can think we are in a better position than Arsenal on the pitch. Off the field it's night and day apart, but what I see with us is a talentless squad with the exception of a minor few, weak minded individuals and an absolute rookie manager spearheading the seasonal campaign.

If Arsenal had a decent away record they would essentially be competing for the league (easier said than done I know). They've endured an excellent home record under Emery and if you credit Solskjaer for his unbeaten run you have to take the same into consideration for Unai. Arsenal need to sort the defence and get a leader in the team. Contrasted with us, we haven't looked comfortable at Old Trafford since a one off 17/18 season in atleast 5 years. If not addressed we will be scrapping outside the top 6 again.

Additionally, what have we really seen from Ole in terms of individual player improvement, tactical acumen and coaching directives to estimate any platform of success next season ? Every argument for success is emphasis on new players but what about how they are utilised ? The only reason why anyone can have confidence is because we will spend money but that's not exactly a footballing measure to estimate success especially with such a mediocre manager.

I know we're shit but that comment is just taking the piss. Leicester won't keep Maguire either.
Yeah I've mostly changed my mind on this since the Koscielny and Maguire sagas properly started this week. It's also come to light that Arsenal really don't have money to spend if all they've got is £40m for Zaha. Regardless, if I was one of Everton or Leicester I'd be optimistic this season. They've both got great squads brimming with energy and potential - Leicester more so than Everton - while United, Arsenal, and Chelsea could all have their worst seasons for a while. I had a feeling Wolves might fancy a go but they're offloading a lot of players for a team who are going to have to compete in the Europa League this season, unless they're sacking that off.
