2017 AFL Premiership Season

So, for the second season running the previous seasons minor premier has started a season 0-3? Fremantle started 0-10, what for Sydney? West Coast and GWS is their next two games.

So, Melbourne is still struggling to win games they really ought to win.

And North has blown another close game, third loss by under 2 goals for the season. It's akin to 2013.

Thank feck St Kilda beat hawthron also very surprising to see Carlton win vs the swans and Ablett is still a gun

So what a season we are witnessing.

Can't say I'm impressed by any of the top teams - they don't stack up to previous Premiers, nor probably even the runner-ups (having said that WCE in 2015 were pretty average). But this is making for a truly crazy season with upsets every week and so many close games.

I heard about a month ago there were already more games decided by under a goal than any other season in recorded history, and there is still a handful of games left.

I had my hard-earned on GWS up until a week ago, but the injury issues are really mounting up. I still think that at their best, with a full list, they will be impossible to beat. But they aren't playing like a cohesive experienced unit. Sydney however, are.

I don't really rate Geelong as they are essentially a dynamic duo (and what a duo) with players around them.

Adelaide are hard to peg. Their midfield is poor by contender's standards; Sloane is a champion, however the Crouch brothers are good accumulators but they lack the level of class to elevate that midfield group. Sloane has been taken out by tags too which isn't a good sign, however their forward line and defense are elite.

Port are pretenders.

Richmond, well who knows what will happen there. Dusty is the king of course, but they are in uncharted territory and I can see lots of tears on the horizon in finals.

As for my boys the Hawks - great turn-around so far. The players were dirty after the Mitchell, and in particular the Lewis trades. However they've gotten over this and are playing much better. It's a shame they didn't pull their finger out earlier in the season otherwise we would be sitting around 6th IMO.

On a side note - Danger's best (last year and this season) is equal to that of GAJ, who I think is in the GOAT discussion. Danger is a superior player to Fyfe. He's such an unstoppable beast.

Matt Priddis will retire and the end of the season. @cesc's_mullet, If Sydney beat Hawthorn., Geelong and Adelaide in the next three weeks or even win two of those three, they'll be hard to stop. Crows flag favourites at the moment and I've got a good feeling the Lions will avoid the spoon.

Sydney are easily a top 4 side on talent, and if not for their horrendous start to the season they would be firm favourites. I think the heartbreak of the GF broke them.

You must be happy with what Fagan is doing for you guys? There is a different feel about the Lions I think. He's helped develop Zorko in to a legitimately elite midfielder, a top 10 player in the comp for mine (speed, toughness, skill and a goal sense). He is a star.

Apparently Rockliff is loving working with him and will most likely sign on. He's even got Rockliff doing team roles by tagging, which I never thought I'd see the day.... Though it's killed my Supercoach Draft side.

Hipwood looks like he will be the next top key position forward. He's a mix of Franklin and Daniher.

Happy to find an AFL thread.

Hard to believe how many greats are calling it quits at the end of the season. Seems like a new announcement is being made daily with another legend calling time.

As they say though, when 1 door closes another opens. Hopefully the youngsters or the mid tier players can step up in place of those calling time and keep the spectacle that is AFL running.
