2016 AFL Premiership Season

Everyone involved seems upbeat about the prognosis so hopefully all is well. On a positive note it's been great to see the community come together in support, a rare thing in the AFL these days.

I agree wholeheartedly.

It's easy though when Roughie is such a genuine and like-able character, he is clearly one of the most liked players in the AFL (like Bob Murphy) community by opposition players and supporters.

Imagine if he could get back out there for one more game / first game back, it would be bigger than the Grand Final.

Hawthorn showed their class tonight but North will be dare i say it, kicking themselves.

What a game, what a result.

If Shaun Burgoyne isn't the most clutch player you've ever seen then you're lying to yourself. He just steps up time and time and time again in the big games and simply delivers.

That last quarter:
11 possessions (4 contested), 100% efficiency, 5 tackles, 5 clearances, 3 inside 50's, 2 (huge clutch) goals

He also had 0 clangers for the match.

That is St Kilda's finals chance gone you would assume. Didn't see much of the game, never been a fan of North and their antics though.

I was rooting for the Saints but that was their chance - unless North or WCE collapse spectacularly, but I don't see that happening.

Still, Saints fans are surely excited about how they're playing and with all the talent comi through.

Am excited with the young players coming through.

And also getting Godard and Carlisle next year will also be very good.

So glad Hawthorn got their premierships before the GWS fully arrived. They are going to be absolutely awesome in the very near future.

Feeling very happy for Melbourne at the moment. As for Hawthorn, they dare not lose to North next week, or West Coast in Perth or the issues regarding their poor percentage could see them out of the four.

Really frustrating. I was expecting (and almost hoping) that we'd drop one game, but assumed it would be North or West Coast. This loss really makes it difficult. Insipid effort and too many passengers. One thing that is standing out is the poor quality of younger players coming through. Although I guess that is understandable when the majority of draft picks over the last few years have been over pick #20.

Fantastic result for the Eagles, giving them a sniff of a home final. Hawthorn looking at at least one final outside Victoria in the finals. May not worry them too much if last year is anything to go by. A trip to ANZ Stadium would be better for Hawthorn than a game at the Adelaide Oval IMO.

@cesc's_mullet @Archie Leach @ZDwyr Hawthorn could make a fift straight Grand Final this year and it could also be the fifth straight year Alastair Clarkson looses an assistant coach. Thoughts on Brett Ratten's suitability for the Brisbane Lions or another senior job should one become available?

Ratten would be excellent I think. Not sure he would be willing to move away from Victoria though. Lions should look at him and Dew though IMO, as their irst two options.

Not at all confident about Hawthorn making it all the way again. I am mentally preparing for the Sydney and Geelong grand final :(

Got my doubts about Ratten wanting to leave Victoria also. Senior coaches don't always get a second crack at senior coaching and i'm not sure he'd want to use that second chance at a club like Brisbane. Also feel Ratten is better as assistant than being the main man. Not a criticism of Ratten just what i feel he's more suited to. My dream appointment is Mark Thompson but i'm not holding my breath on that.

As for the Grand Final, i hope Hawthorn make it and play either Geelong or Sydney. As for another Grand Final combo, Geelong vs West Coast would be fascinating.

I don't think so mate, I think we look too tired. We deserved to finish 6th in the end IMO.

I think the Brisbane job is poison chalice, but if Ratten wanted another gig then I would wish him well.

Finals is a different ball game. I'm hoping we've got our bad form out of the way, while Geelong will be overconfident after a soft thrashing of the insipid Demons.

That's fairly optimistic though, we really lack Roughies size up front.

Bulldogs have been brilliant so far in the west. Eagles certainly didn't benefit from the bye at the end of the regular season.

Congrats to Hawthorn on a great era but all good things have to come to and end and their shot at history ( four straight flags) is done. Are the Bulldogs destined to win the flag or something?

Disappointing to go out with such a half hearted performance. For thirty minutes in the second half it's like we only had 12 players on the field.

Congrats to the dogs, they were great and are a good squad.

Confirmation is ever closer that David Noble is to join Brisbane from Adelaide as Football operations manager. Brisbane's search for a new coach is reportedly down to two: Chris Fagan and John Barker. Fagan is my choice and i hope he is the choice the club go with as well. Don't see it personally with John Barker but would support him if he was to get the job.

Geelong saved their worst until last, much like the last two grand final losers.

I generally want to see at least one Victorian club play in the Grand Final but the whining coming out of Victoria and Eddie if there's an all Sydney Grand Final is a tantalising prospect.

Sorry, Bulldogs 360 has put me off the Bulldogs. I also enjoy seeing non Victorian teams win the flag. Swans clearly better than the Bulldogs over the regular season and I'd like to see that count for something tangible.

I'm getting closer and closer to picking the Bulldogs in Saturday's Grand Final. If the Swans start well and have a good quarter time and half time lead, I can't see them getting caught. Bulldogs need to be in touch (within 2-3 goals) at quarter time and half time. I want the Swans to win though.

Mills and McVeigh in for Sydney, the Bulldogs are unchanged as per league teams.

Carn the Bloods! Absolutely sick of how overlooked the Swans have been in light history-making fairtyale of the Western Bravedogs.

Do it for Bob Murphy's knee, so he doesn't need to miss out on a flag. Swans by 24.

Happy Grand Final day, folks. Bulldogs to win by 12 points but i want the Swans to win.

Can't believe they did it, what an amazing effort.

That was one of the best games I have ever watched, just unbelievable relentless pressure the whole entire game.

Only one point did the doggies look tired which was in the 3rd and they still kept coming.

Bevo, what a man and what a legendary act. Build him a statue already.

Truly one of the great games.

It was only over after that crazy 3 minute of non-stop action in the last that led to Picken's goal. Then Tom Boyd, who had the best game of his career, nailed one from 60m. feck what a game.

Kind of feels like a 4peat for me

Whilst JJ is my fav player in their side I have to say Picken was robbed of the Norn Smith medal IMO.
