2015 Toyota AFL Premiership Season

According to Jon Anderson, Carlton has narrowed its short list down to four. Brendan Bolton, Stuart Dew, Simon Lloyd and John Barker - three of the four come from somewhat successful coaching groups. John Barker must be the clear underdog even despite Friday's result.

I hope they don't take Bolton from us, though having said that he has earned the right to a senior gig.

Big fat Dew (I will always love you) has been touted as a potential Senior Coach for a while now.

Apparently Simon Lloyd is the brother of Matthew.

I wonder if he's as painfully boring as his shithead brother. I have a soft spot for Bolton, Dew and Barker so would be happy for any of them.

Hope we can keep hold of Bolton. Dew has had his name thrown around for a few jobs now, he will be the one they pick I think. Some news tonight that Mick Malthouse would listen to Adelaide if they wanted a conversation with him about the coaching position.

I'm surprised Peter Sumich isn't on the shortlist of four. I'd like Bolton to stay at Hawthorn. In a years time, the Brisbane job might be available. Come to Brisvegas, Brendan.

Part of me hopes Sydney make the grand final so then he won't be booed when the retired players have a lap of honour.

Just listened to an interview with Bruce McAvaney. Friday night will be Clarkson's 250th game in charge of Hawthorn, and Hawthorn vs Richmond will be their first Friday night meeting at the MCG since 1995.

Goodes won't play vs Adelaide this weekend and has been given extended leave by the Swans.

Whilst I don't believe the booing is racially motivated (although I can't speak for the minority of real idiots out there) I think it is just pathetic and has to stop.

It will be shameful if such a decorated player and terrific person off the field is hounded out because of this. This shouldn't be how legends bow-out.

I went to a Hawthorn function at the MCG on Tuesday night - it was an 'inside the huddle' do that had Clarkson, Gunston and a development coach speak (forget his name though).

Clarkson confirmed that Suckling has been offered a big contact by another club which far outweighs our offer to him. He's got a tough choice to make but successful teams pay players under their true value on the open market. He wouldn't reveal who had offered the deal though.

This tied into any potential Dangerfield offer too as Clarkson said the incoming player will have to fit in to our wage structure - the trade off is obviously being at a strong club with a great culture. This all stemmed from when he first arrived and sat down with Dunstall to review our player-payments... As it turned out we were paying the second highest amount whilst finishing second last.

He spoke about how our recruiting strategy changed due Gold Coast and GWS joining - as when he joined we were only interested in drafting 18/19 year olds, but due to those teams being introduced we had to look elsewhere - eg. Breust, Puopolo, Smith and Stratton. Those kinds of players that were first overlooked or recruited from obscurity. Coincidentally those 4 all played their 100th game this season, and what players they have been (you can tell be was particularly proud of Puopolo - just his kind of player).

He said the club was forced to make this change in strategy and he admitted that he wouldn't have done this naturally, had those teams not been introduced. I found that particularly interesting as we have has great success due to this change. Those four are key members and are all dual premiership players.

Looking back on our recruiting it's plain to see that no one has done it better since he's been at the club. Trading for players like - Burgoyne, Gibson, Gunston, Hale, Lake, Frawley. Drafting players that have come into the system unconventionally - Breust, Puopolo, Smith, Stratton, Suckling, Duryea.

We are ahead of the rest in this regard.

It's definitely racially motivated for a number. And the one's who join them are amplifying it. And the piss poor excuses coming out from a number of high profile commentators (Warne, Alan Jones, Akermanis) is fecking embarrassing. Not that I expect anything better from mouth breathing cretins like those three.

I almost don't want to believe it is, but I find myself agreeing with you. Selwood, who I respect greatly doesn't mind staging or ducking his head on occasions, and he doesn't get booed which is part of the rationale people use for booing Goodes.

I heard Hawthorn supporters making monkey noises during the booing at the Grand Final last year. A bloke told him to go back to the zoo on the weekend. Plus, y'know, the average Australian football fan. I mean, we all know.

Ape caller's mother wants goodes to apologize for singling her daughter out for racism. Australia for you :)

It's absolutely ridiculous, the sheer audacity.

There are just too many idiots out there I'm afraid... I'm actually looking forward to the zombie apocalypse.

Has West Coast blown a home qualifying final after their draw vs Gold Coast?

Nope. Doesn't make much of a difference really. Hawthorn still have to beat them next week and hope they drop another game (without the Hawks dropping one themselves). Looking like a trip to Perth in the first week of finals for us. Not ideal, but if we play our best we can beat anyone.

They still have to play Freo. They lose to us next week and then the Dockers and we should grab 2nd.

Yeah we should if that happens. We have some danger games against Port and Geelong though (we should win but you never know). The Richmond game didn't bother me too much. It was frustrating because we were so far off our best but with the fact we were 4-4 early on has cost us guaranteed top two. How we lost to Essendon I will never know. The Sydney game at the MCG was also ridiculous, we had like 20 more inside 50s.
