2010 BCS National Championship Game

If Alabama lose this it's a classic choke job for all-time.

Gilbert won't get the Tebow hype if they win as he's not a golden boy like Tebow was coming into college. But it would be a great springboard for his career.

If he pulls this out of the bag, that kid will be swimming in so much cheerleader ass for the rest of his stay in college.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand fail.

Terrible decision to empty the backfield and not put the QB into a shotgun to give him peripheral vision of a potential blitz.

Somewhat agree. The QB is still a freshman he should have had a bit more protection. I think Texas was just going with momentum thinking they would pass it all over the field.

Ok, Nick Saban is officially a piece of shit. All you have to do is kneel and end the game, but he runs it in. Stay classy Bama.

Saban is the biggest POS in the world, I hate him, had Alabama had another coach I would have rooted fro them. That said, Saban is a great fecking coach so the point is mute because I doubt Alabama would have been there

Well done to the kid, feel awful for him but the way I see it, he's got 3 more years to make up for it.

The refs not calling PI and the recievers dropping passes, as well as the stupid coaching decision by Mack before halftime, are dark spots on an otherwise hard performance for Texas.

Right.....

Because Mack Brown has never run the score up on anyone.

64-7 against UTEP
51-20 against Kansas
41-7 Mizzou

Please. Big time coaches all run it up. I hate Texas and Alabama but there's nothing wrong there.

The difference is that the BCS makes running up the score in regular season games beneficial. It doesn't matter in the National Championship game. Had someone been hurt, he would look like an idiot.

It wasnt running up the score 37-21, ummm even that is a game ffs

I wasn't saying he's running up the score to ridiculous amounts, but there's no reason to score on the last possession.

You obviously didn't watch those games. I suppose I could pull out Bama 53-7 North Texas, or Bama 45-0 Tenn Chattanooga. Bama and Texas are head and shoulders above those schools and are often up by 20 or 30 plus by halftime.

Go pull some more past scores out of your ass while you're at it.

It's just another silly asterik for us Saban haters to throw out there.

The man is a helluva coach, transforms programs, but god he is a cnut of a man.

Grind out the fecking clock when the game is "over", scoring that touchdown at the end was like punching every Texas defensive player in the face.

Alabama's English program is quite lackluster

Team to beat next year, the SEC is going to be even easier for them next year.

Under two minutes to play, ball inside the opponents 30 up 10... that's ball game... no need to run it up. He could have shown some class. He probably did it to ensure Boise State don't snatch a vote. Or maybe because he's simply a prick in real life. Stuff Bowden, Paterno, even Mack won't do in a game like this.

Saban got a feckin' gift with McCoy going out. He might have picked them apart considering Gilbert managed to make a few plays while looking clearly shaky and inexperienced.

It's something professionals can handle because you're paid to stop the opponents and play for sixty. As pros on losing ends will say, "We should have stopped them, that's our job." Saban basically told every Texas player I don't respect you, your school or this game. It's all about him and is everywhere he goes. He'll probably bolt Alabama in a couple years when USC come calling or when the Redskins go looking for another "fix" in three seasons.

So being better and up by 30 at the half makes it ok? What kind of argument is that? Running it up is running it up? Why pull more scores out of my ass when you did the research for me and pulled them out of yours.

I couldn't give a shit about what either team does. Blowing out your opponent is part of college football, right or wrong makes no difference. Do you whine when United blows someone out out 5-0? feck no, so give it a rest.

So a second and third string running the ball most of a second half is running up the score like a first team offense up ten with two minutes remaining? Do you know anything about gridiron football? Comparing United to college football is so ridiculous even you can probably see it from your lofty high horse. Clutching straws at its finest.

For. fecks. Sake.

Go shag a sheep or something.

Can't agree on this case mate, it's Nick Saban, he's known for this shit.

To be fair, they are in the SEC. It's not like they are actually good at academics... Florida is ranked 47th by US News. The ACC, on the other hand, has 6 schools in the top 35.

Note: I realize the rankings are pretty pointless, especially since my school gets screwed by peer institution reviews despite ranking even with or above many better-ranked schools.

I'd agree a bit. Saban is an ass. However, for someone to suggest they ran the score up in a pretty close game is a bit of stretch. They had the ball on inside the 5 with something like 2 minutes to go. They didn't throw the ball down the field for a 40 yard completion. Not to mention Saban had just seen the opponent give up a touchdown with 15 seconds remaining in the first half on a fluke play. I can't really call him out. And my other point is Texas goes out and beats teams by 20, 30 or 40 on a somewhat regular basis. Unless they put in all back ups and ran the ball on every play once the game was in hand it's no different. Just my opinion. :)

 Calm down. I'm not Joe Pa but I have been watching college football for about 30+ years. I'll say it again, running it up is running it up.

sure looked like running up the score to me, while I was watching it.

felt bad for Gilbert, he very nearly completed one of the most remarkable comebacks in a football game. I've no dog in this fight but you have to admit that watching him throw touchdowns to make it a 3 point game was pretty good. everyone loves and underdog, right? real Hollywood stuff that was, until he got blindsided.

of course there might still be a movie in it, with a Hollywood ending - loosely "based on a true story".

Ah feck it. Massive headache this morning. At least the Cowboys can restore some order to the state of Texas footballing world this weekend. And roll on United!

PS... Cali Red is still my bitch. :p

just kidding big fella

i boarded a flight from Chicago to Warsaw just as the game was about to begin and spent the entire 9 hours wondering how the hell this thing would turn out. Looks like the Tide won a good game. I wonder how it would have turned out if Texas had receivers who could catch.
