I never said I 'had' to leave because I couldn't survive. I chose to travel the world and broaden my horizons while I was young. You'll understand that concept soon ... hopefully.

I am making more money here than I could have at home so if you consider that a contradiction to my earlier comments then you have a warped understanding of what I wrote ... sorry for you!

youve been away for to long!!!!

when you come back youll smell the roses!!!

It sounds like you aren't having too much fun in Blighty, for that I'm sorry but my friends, family etc. have always been honest with me about the state of our nation and they all seem happy at the moment. Seeing as though these are the people I relate to, for obvious reasons, I have to judge by their opinion rather than yours.

I am 36 and I'm sure my outlook on England is different to yours as I'm assuming you are somewhat younger than I am. I've travelled the world, seen many things and had more fun than I thought I'd ever have but, one thing has always been missing ... Old Trafford. I miss going there more than I miss anything about England, my travels and work (and a court settlement!) in the US have afforded me the opportunity to come home, get my season ticket and live the rest of my days happy in the Theatre of Dreams. ;)

im 28 so not that much younger.

iv lived in france, Austria, germany, portugal and spain (all for more than 3 months).
im ex army.

i lead a good life,a partner that loves me, a nice house and a 7 year old daughter - a well paid job with excellent perks (ask around).....
i am due for a carreer change that gives me even more time with family and friends

but my head is not in the sand.

when you visit all these different countries you get to see life a little differently and you get a different view on your own country. i dont hate england as a country - but have yet to find the perfect country. i wouldnt say the states is any better than here, but I wouldnt say that we are better off than the likes of germany, belgium, France, Spain, Oz, japan, etc..

we all have our problems - i just choose to notice them instead of wearing blinkers.

I would say that it is almost impossible to find the perfect country. I suppose it's what you make of it that counts. I have not lived for lengths of time in many countries as you have but I've visited many and I'd love to visit them again.

Living in them is a different kettle of fish though. I've made my choice and I'm happy with it. In a perfect world I'd like to have the St. Maarten beaches just down the road from OT ;) but I guess I'll have to suffer a long flight instead.

I like your taste in beaches!!!

Clacton beach doesnt come a close second does it!!!

Although Bournmouth Beach is not so bad...... if you like sunbathing at -2. ;)

I always had a twisted love for Skegness actually

But after working on the Cruise ships, I think Baie Rouge (french side) and Cupecoy (dutch side) are a tad better.

I remember my first visit to Cupecoy. The ships dancers had invited some of us to a BBQ one wednesday afternoon so me and the lads said "hell yeah". Cabbie dropped us off and said it's over that ridge. Off we went, trudging along in us trunks! Anyway, we come to the top of the cliff and looked down on to the beach ..... :D 'kin hell, all the ships dancers are sunbathing starkers :p Yeeeehaaaa. I dropped me trunks and ran down there sharpish, tackle flyin' all over the place :p

Ended up playing nude volleyball and got plastered on Capt Morgan rum!

Ahh, them were the days ...

PREDICTIONS

The teams to advance

Group A
France
Denmark

Group B
South Africa
Spain

Group C
Brazil
Turkey

Group D
Portugal
Poland

Group E
Germany
Ireland

Group F
Argentina
England

Group G
Italy
Croatia

Group H
Russia
Japan

Group A France should have little problem advancing. Denmark and Uruguay will be a close sall.

Group B is interseting. Solvenia and Paraguay are the overachievers, while Spain and S.A. have been disappointing in previous comps.

Group C is interesting. Costa Rica having beat Brazil at the Copa America and the Turks being tough bastards as usual.

Group D is an easy pick with Portugal and Porland heads above the rest. Lucky to be grouped with the Koreans and the USA.

Group E Germany will advance as should Ireland, Cameroon might have an outside chance of upsetting.

Group F Argentina will go through as will England if they have Owen and Beckham healthy.

Group G is next with Italy and Croatia matching up well against Mexico and Ecuador.

Group H is the most unintersting
of all. Belgium were big disappointments at home in EURO 2000. Russia usually don't challenge the top nations. Japan are exciting but are missing physical strengthen in their game.
I don't know squat about Tunisia. I would be surprise if anyone of them advances, althougfh I think the hosts will be pushed along by FIFA and perhaps the Russians will go.

I wouldn't underestimate the UNited States against Poland. Sure Portugal should just destroy every team in the group, but Poland and the United States aren't probably all that far off when it comes down to it. I guess we shall see.
