10 years since we won the league

I thought Moyes was the perfect signing at the time. Not because I thought he'd do well. But because no matter who came in, they were never going to be anywhere near as good as SAF and were always going to be a sacrificial lamb of sorts. I thought the biggest mistake was then naming LVG as our next manager...
Yeah fair point! Madness that he tried to change everything that was in place though. Was never gonna work after he did that.
Who were you fancying after instead of LVG? I remember being quite excited by the prospect. Especially after the Netherlands performance in the WC.

With VAR that incredible RVP volley would have been ruled offside I think :nervous:

Remember that "managerial tap in" thread the summer after this that we thought Moyes had if he just signed a CM? I still think it was valid if we had a good manager. Such a shame how it panned out, but a decline was inevitable.

That was a pretty close race. We only needed 12 more points to equal City's points tally that year.

Very, very fine margins.
Or hoped that City lose 4 games. Really could've gone either way.

I see Phil Jones in those celebrations

and he's still here, let that sink in...

If I remember right, I think I was excited about the prospect of Mourinho coming in to take charge

As I remember it it was on Monday. Went on a school trip to Budapest and switched on CNN news on TV in our hotel room. United winning the league was main breaking news + unfortunately those bombings at Boston Marathon. Time flies really.

Do hope we can do it again soon but we'll have to invest and buy well + there's a serious competition so won't be easy for sure.

Huh...how time flies.
I remember I was still disappointed about how we went out against Real in the CL and wasn't really impressed we won the title and we won it by quite a margin. Should of appreciated the moment more, life lesson learned here.
Who knew 10 years will pass and no major trophies for us, or worse, God knows how many years left.

We were so spoiled by success back then. 2021/22 season was statistically maybe even worse than 2013/14 season, but don't think anything will ever hurt like that Moyes season. Was a proper nightmare.

That fall was really hard to swallow, but you know what? I blamed everything on Moyes, thought he was just a disaster of a manager and we will bounce back soon enough. When LVG came and Di Maria and Falcao and the rest of the pack, I believed we will be back in no time...I was so wrong. Once we fell, we fell for good.

I would have rephrased the title to "10 years since we challenged for the league". It's harder to get rid of Phil Jones than the Glazers.

The fact we haven't even mustered up a title challenge in 10 years is a disgrace.
