Yes, 10 years ago today we beat Aston Villa 3-0 thanks to a first half van Persie hat trick.

The result confirmed our 20th League title, 13th in the 21 seasons of the Premier League.

A nice reminder of better days:

We haven’t won it since or even challenged.

Was in the east stand for this game unreal view of that volley what a day

Time flies. I don't think many of us ever imagined 10 years ago that it will take so long before the next title. Fergie told us our job is to "stand by the new manager". 5 managers later, we are still standing by...Hopefully ETH brings us closer. We are definitely moving at least in the right direction.

It feels to me with the false dawns and the horrible corrupt City flying that were as far away as ever.

Hear me out. . .

There’s a Scottish manager, goes by the name of Moyes who should be available late May/early June. I think if we back that manager things could change.

SAF really spoiled us. Under the great man we were never far away from the next trophy. I would have appreciated these times more if I knew just how hard they were to actually come by.

Wonder how he’d actually get on second time around

Depressing, we haven't even come close to challenging it either since.

We have a lot of work to do before we get there, but we need Glazers to sell first.

How did anyone ever think moyes was good enough to follow on

Not sure if we even managed to get pep or klopp we would’ve seen successful given the state of how we’ve been run though.

My feelings exactly. We took it so, so much for granted. Of course we'd win silverware every season and we owned the PL like no other club. And things would continue that way.

What about the quarter of the century before the Premier League where we won next to nothing? Was never going to go on forever.

I thought Moyes was the perfect signing at the time. Not because I thought he'd do well. But because no matter who came in, they were never going to be anywhere near as good as SAF and were always going to be a sacrificial lamb of sorts. I thought the biggest mistake was then naming LVG as our next manager...

It'll be a fair while before we're at that level again looking at the state of our current squad and finances.

Wow 10 years...it's been misery since then!

I wonder when we'll win our next league title, still miles away from city and unless those FA charges stick, they ain't going anywhere.

Remember it well. If you’d had told me that we’d win a grand total of zero over the next ten years, Fergie’s replacement would be sacked after 8 months, and Liverpool and city would dominate for years to come, I’d probably have made sure I enjoyed it a bit more. Success was routine, especially the league. 13 in 21 seasons is mental.

Think alot of people said when SAF retired that we wouldn't win the league for 10 years. I agreed. SAF worked miracles with some of the players he had.

Appointment of Moyes was one of the worst decisions in our clubs history. That and signing Maguire.

Assuming they continue to operate with a basic level of competency, city are going keep winning the league over and over. No self funded club can compete with that level of money.

There will be seasons here and there where someone else wins, like Liverpool did, and Arsenal may do this season. Hopefully we'll manage one at some point. But over a period of seasons? No chance.

The only thing that's going to stop them winning in the long term is if/when Newcastle, with their even greater amount of money, come to the fore instead.

I was born in 92 mate. I don't think I can remember the quarter of a century before  SAF United was all I knew

This is a solid point in a strange way. It's like someone had to come in and take the bullets that were associated with us coming back crashing down to earth and realizing that we are in fact a normal football club like every other and not a team that challenged for the league every season by default and picked up trophies every year. Moyes did his part for the greater good

We’ve spent enough over the last 10 years to build a squad like them. We just haven’t had the manager and the board don’t care about the football side. If we could sort that out we could easily compete with them.

With the way we’ve been run, we’re lucky to still be in the Premier League. In terms of what we’ve spent, we’ve underachieved. But for everything else we’ve no business finishing second twice and currently being third.

You look at where Chelsea are right now and somehow it’s never been that bad for us.

10 years, incredible. Was fortunate to be at that game, and wouldn't for a second have thought it was our last premier league win ever.
