10 years ago today David Moyes was announced as manager

While I don't think he was ever good enough to take on such a big project as us, I do think Fergie left him with everything to succeed.

Coaching, backroom staff, everything was in place, all he had to do was come in and learn on th ejob for a sseason from an entire club of winners. Instead, he brought his team with him, binned off all the experience and suddenly found himself completely lost.

All on him.

Fergie also set it up so he could buy Thiago and get rid of Rooney without much fuss as Fergie had already revealed Rooney wanting to leave and dropped him for final matches.

Letting managers refuse the Thiago and Kroos signings were huge, we'd have actual class midfielders to build with if we hadn't let Moyes and LVG veto.

It was his complete lack of responsibility that irked people, then he went and did the same at Sunderland, absolving himself of any blame and throwing players under the bus.

Even after his first loss on his return he said “this is more a reflection of the players than David Moyes”. When it’s going well, it’s back to being David Moyes.

He's a really good manager. Replacing Fergie was almost an impossible job.
I disagree. It was impossible for a man of Moyes' limited capabilities, but not for someone like, say Jose. Despite Sir Bobby's tut-tutting, we should have moved heaven and earth to bring him. He would have forsaken a return to Chelsea in a heartbeat to manage United.
