Been no worse than anybody else. Everybody has had a stinker. Only good player was Romero.

But you take the player you dislike and make a silly comment.
Not necessarily, although it does happen a lot that people only mention the player they dislike. The difference with Pogba is that he's our best player, which is why fans expect a higher standard.

Love listening to commentators heap loving praise on teams like City and Wolves (and Chelsea before them) like it's some fairy-tale reason behind why they are in the positions they are

Mendes better beat Mansour to win the cup now :nono:

Wolves were good. We look jaded. Ole bounce over. Now comes the hard part. Still think he'll do us proud

    I don't think so, no.
We had enough to beat wolves today, but the players look disinterested again, which is really frustrating.
To knock out Arsenal and Chelsea and then go out against an admittedly good wolves side stinks to me.
I hear ya and I too am disappointed. This really was our only opportunity to win silverware and we are playing a lot of games and have just too many players returning. Martial and Lingard look so rusty they seem like average players. Herrera not his usual aggressive self. Matic still not at it. The ones who seemed disinterested were Pogba, maybe Rashford (then he scored), Shaw maybe (then grabbed an assist). Probably a game for Lukaku funny enough

Lies. Haven't seen us play worse than we did against Pool in my lifetime. He rightfully got the sack after that.
The disappointment was that we did not get the ball forward quickly enough, especially against a Wolves side who sit deep and want to counterattack. These short corners did not make sense and broke down, and that was an example of how we just did not adapt to their style at all.
We ended up being sitting targets.

Not saying people should be holding back criticism, but if I were to moan about Pogba today I'd say he's playing shit and trying to do it all on his own like he tends to do when the rest of the team is playing shit. I wouldn't go with comments suggesting that he's intentionally assisting their goals, talking about his haircuts, earrings or whatever's the flavour of the day in terms of Pogba-bashing.
I agree, but I took the assist comment as saying that he lost the ball yet again, which led to a goal for them. Not that he intentionally did it. If that's actually what happened. I missed that sequence.

No, the actual commentator hates Utd.

I don't actually recall a commentator who acted a bit biased towards us. See it a lot for City and Liverpool, with pundits too. Just one of those things innit. Been that successful for so long that everyone hates us. Or just so many ex players who struggle to do their job in a professional manner, kinda like when most played the game

Oh well, don't think it would happen, but if I were to choose a team to go all the way now, it would be Wolves.

City will demolish them by 3 clear goals. And that will prove our embarrassment regardless of their squads' superiority over ours.

C’mon people we had a few players that were not clearly match fit and even on the bench we only had Mata who was not played for a few weeks now. Ole should have substituted Herrera and/or Matic off before the first goal - the signs were there that Wolves were becoming more dominant through the midfield and he continued with the same players until we were 2-0 down.

Anyways this loss may come us a blessing for us since we already a a jam packed schedule after the international break.

He tried to win the ball in the penalty box while at the same time not giving Atkinson a reason to give a penalty, and the ball bounced off him for the striker to score from. Hardly an 'assist' which is why I called that fella out on it.

Utterly gutted. Feeling real pain in my gut. It feels like we have been lulled into a false sense of competence. I hope not.
But Martial summed up the way we played... total lethargy. Total lacking in desire to effect the game positively.
    It's quite disgraceful.
I would take losing, but this display showed zero heart, zero desire. Ole wants his teams to outwork the opposition. That didn't happen tonight.

If you're feeling this then we've all been wronged by this team tonight. What about the away fans.

Now everyone gets to see what Ole does when things go a little wrong. Because this is definitely a gauntlet thrown down. The heat is ON now. Top four is looking shaky after it was looking really in our favour. Chelsea & Arsenal both suddenly in form after both looking awful. Barca might absolutely slap us into next season let alone next week. Ole is going to have to prove his mettle in the coming weeks.

One thing is for sure, if he gets the job, he'll have absolutely earned it more than most.

    Oh ok, I understand now.

We weren’t going to keep on playing like a title winning team, last two games have been a reality check.

Wolves were bloody good tonight, excellent passing, very quick on the attack and no individual was slacking, and standing around and losing the ball with his thumb up his arse and mind in neutral.
That was the difference one team played like a team and played like they wanted to win The Cup the other couldn’t get going and the midfield was very slow and stationary.
Oh well, that leaves fourth to be played for and of course The Champions League.
Come on Ole, time to stand up and get a reaction, I’m sure you can do it.

It was obvious from about ten minutes in that the starting tactics weren’t working.

I’d expect the manager of Manchester United to be tactically competent enough to counter anything the fecking Wolves manager can do.
You didn’t answer my question though. Can you even put a finger on specifically what was wrong with the tactics?

This is it in a nutshell. The lack of ever causing panic in them is what gave them the stability to remain comfortable and realise they could take us if they just opened up a little. Besides, that was probably in their game plan and they were loving every minute of us playing in front of them without a hint of imagination.

Those corners were an arrogant but also incompetent joke.

I'm sure he can't but then again he isn't employed to manage Manchester United. I am an Ole advocate but there are times when we've looked a bit lost out there; even during our big wins.

Well I’m not a football manager so, no I don’t know for sure what was wrong. But we looked shut against Arsenal playing a 433 and performed significantly better with a 352 formation. I’d have started with that today to provide much needed width.

Too harsh to give Rashford, Martial, Lingard & Pogba a 1 as a rating.......?

Their rating can absorb my anger this evening.

Maybe my message count is my road to calmness. :nervous:

Yeah, but why blame it on the tactics when you can’t even tell what’s wrong with them. I don’t think the tactics were wrong as we seemed in control for the majority of the game. The problem today was that the players didn’t perform. Martial wasn’t instructed to refuse to take on their defenders and pass the ball back. Lingard wasn’t instructed to lose the ball and so on.

It’s just funny how he blames the tactics without knowing what he’s talking about.

I don’t understand why you chose to blame the tactics and not the players when you can’t say what was wrong with the tactics. I wouldn’t put any blame at all on the tactics as we seemed to be in control of the game most of the time. I think the players just didn’t perform today, and that doesn’t necessarily come down to tactics. Martial wasn’t instructed to refuse to take on their defenders and Lingard wasn’t instructed to lose the ball etc.

352 is a more narrow formation than 433 anyway as it only has two proper wide players whereas 433 has two wingers with two fullbacks who can provide width as well. And it’s too simplified to sit here and say that we should’ve played 352 because we performed better with that formation in a previous match. Every match is different, and to be honest I don’t think we’d perform very well regardless of formation as the players just seemed so off today.

Fair enough pal. Some good points made by you here.

Thought we were the better team against Arsenal and only poor finishing, and the ref, cost us.

Tonight we were very flat. Since Ole’s arrival we’ve played pressing, attacking, high energy football. Tonight we went back to possession, sideways/backwards, football. No idea why. Whether those were the tactics or the players just didn’t have the energy for some unknown reason. If tactics it was a mistake as we had to go for this game, imo.

We were tactically off beam and the players were too. Pogba was getting squeezed, deliberately by Wolves, hence two (at least) professional foul yellow cards, just to stop our flow and he never got going. And they always ensure everyone is behind the ball ensuring they cover all the spaces.. and look for the counterattack
They have been doing it all season and are well drilled.
We didn't work it out, but the players themselves couldn't either and nobody was really taking responsibility to take the initiative and take the game by the scruff of the neck.
The only way to beat Wolves is to draw t hem out and somehow get round the back of them, or have some great individual skill, but Martial, in particular was lame and we seemed deliberately reluctant to get balls into the box.
Getting frustrated with Martial to be fair. He is the kind of player we love but woefully inconsistent. Nani was far more at it than he was and he was never really seen as a United superstar.

What is control? We weren't in control. Wolves play Mourinho tactics week in week out and they will feel as Mo did, that they were in control. Control is not ball possession it has always got to be what do with possession, not how much of it you have. It's often not pretty to watch with Wolves but they have succeeded with it and it works for them in their position, which is, first to stay up and get a good position in the league.
We on the other hand lacked ideas in the final third and against sides that sit, you need far more in central midfield than a Pogba who is being sat on.
This is where Ole and Mike needed to encourage them to pick out the early ball into the box, but we never did. We dwelt on it and dilly and dallied and by god it was like watching a tortoise race at times.
It is precisely here that we lack in central midfield. Herrera and Matic, while playing far better than under Mourinho, didn't support the attackers enough with any intelligent play. They are, in fairness players who break up the play, and not really as creative as we would require from United players.
Matic managed it more than Herrera, who had a pretty poor game.
Lingard seemed to be more concerned about whether he would be injured again and looked off the pace.
Rashford scored but for the most part looked short of ideas.
Our squad is not strong enough. We have no attacking options today, and it is a surprised that Mason was not on the bench.
We will do very well right now to be qualifying for the Champions League, as both Arsenal and Chelsea are on form at the mo, while we have just hit a pothole.
Now we will see how the team and Ole respond. But I expected a response today after the Arsenal defeat... and it just didn;t come
