This will show us how Ole deals with team rotation and priorities.

Some of our players badly need a rest.
We simply cannot risk running Bruno to the ground. And we are on a path of doing just that.

Pogba has to play. This is where he should pull his weight and show everybody that he want's to play!
Greenwood has to play. Get the kid back on track, he's a profound striker, he needs game time.
VDB has to play. He only had 15 minutes yesterday.
Fred has to play, our next game is vs Leipzig, and he can't play that so he will get the rest.

    Rest Bruno, Rashford, De Gea.

    Henderson

Wan Bisakka - Lindelof - Maguire - Telles

    Fred - Matić - VDB - Pogba

    Cavani - Greenwood

    Rash is injured anyway.

If I were Moyes I’d just tell my team to go all out and disrupt us from the out. Nothing to lose.

I’m afraid this will be a carbon copy of the game many most of us predict. They go out and score a goal from a set-piece or poor defending, probably Antonio as he’s back in the fold. After that, we gradually get going and put pressure on them as our pre-game tactic is out the window. Heck, we might even win Southampton-style as we in general are a much, much better team. Nothing wrong with that I guess, but I just have zero confidence of us biting them from the start. I don’t remember how a steamrolling, full control display feels like.

That would play right into our hands.

Soak up the pressure, hit them on the counter. It's what we do best after all.
We just have to set up like that then ------ Cavani as a pingball - James on the left, Greenwood on the right.

    Diamond for me

    Henderson
AWB Maguire Lindelof Shaw (if fit)
    Matic
    DvB Fred
    Bruno
    Greenwood Martial

Great in theory but it’s clear we do stupid things that lead to conceding poor goals.

I’m not pessimistic by any means but the lack of consistency within a game always gives me cause for anxiety

Yeah, i'm anxious when we play 3rd league clubs, let alone any meaningful game.
The amount of stupid goals we concede is alarmingly high - that's just something we need to drill out.

But yes, like you said, theoretically - if they set-up for a high press against us - hitting them on the counter is the perfect response.
Haven't seen much of West Ham to be honest, so don't actually know how they will play.

Speaking of consistency, the problem is we can't afford to play the same 11 all the time, meaning we will undoubtedly lose some consistency due to the fact that Pogba or Greenwood will most likely play.

But that is also on the coaching staff, drill everybody into a team.

We’ve run Bruno & Rashford into the ground, give them a rest for this. I’d be tempted to give Dave a rest too, he’s picked up knocks in the last 2 games.

    Henderson
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Telles
    Matic
    Donny Pogba
    Mata Cavani Martial

Mata, Donny, Pogba, Cavani, Martial. Technical Ability.

That’s what we need to break a low block.

West Ham are always well up for it against us, this won't be an easy game.

Need to get an injury update on Rashford before selecting a starting 11. I think Ole will play McFred but I'd play Van de Beek in Bruno's role as I tink he needs a rest before the Leipzig.

Please rest Bruno Ole. I’d have said Matic over Fred had he not been sent off last night and suspended for Tuesday...

    Henderson

    Awb
    Maguire
    Lindelof
    Telles

    Fred
    VdB

    Greenwood
    Pogba
    Martial

    Cavani

    Would really like to see

    Henderson
AWB Axel Linkylonk Maggie Telles Shaw
    Matic Fred McTee
    Martial Bacon Bruno Pogba Rashy
    Greenweed Cavani

    Classic 6-3-5-2 domination game..
But I guess OGS has something really special planned for this..

Time to make use of squad rotation, so we don't risk unnecessary injuries. Fred is out for Leipzig, so would be stupid not to play him. Rashford and Bruno need a break, and we need them at their best on Tuesday, so would start them on the bench. I would consider something like this:

    DDG
    AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Telles
    Matic - Fred
    Greenwood - VDB - Martial
    Cavani

Although I wouldn't be against swapping in Pogba for either VDB or Matic.

Why so many people putting Henderson in? DDG injured? If not then you don't drop him imo. Think we'll win this. 2-1.

Bruno won't be rested because he's the one that's bailing us out right now. Maybe not starting but being left out altogether?...

Seeing the way he was last night, I wouldn't be surprised if he's the one that makes the call if he needs resting or not.

Haha so true. Our very own little dictator

Greenwood has been as bad if not worse than Martial since he had his problems. I saw the analysis against Southampton in the first half. He was terrible. He just couldn't be arsed even when Bruno was busting a gut to get into the box a few times.
Martial needs to play. He is missing chances. It's not that he is not in the right positions.

I think we've found the way forward in terms of what our best lineup is for probably 8/9 positions. Don't think that we should go full strength here, need to keep some players fresh for Leipzig as that's the immediate #1 concern, plus its a good time to rest a couple where we have the depth to do it.

    Cavani
    James Pogba Greenwood
    Fred Van de Beek
    Telles Maguire Tuanzebe Wan Bissaka
    De Gea

    Then midweek go:
    Cavani
    Martial Bruno Rashford
    McTominay Matic
    Telles Maguire Lindelof Wan Bissaka
    De Gea

Fred in for Matic and thats our best 11. But the top one is also a really good side, where we're rotating the entire group of 5 between the striker and the defenders (and one of the CBs). Shaw being fit would be nice to rotate him in too. But for 6 rotated players its a really strong lineup.

    Back 5
    McTominay - van de Beek
    Bruno
    Greenwood - Cavani - Martial

We need to test this midfield ahead of RB clash. Score two, rest Bruno and give Pogba a try in his place for at least 30 minutes.

I hate Mark Noble. If oonly he always played as good against us every week. He'd be a world beater.

    Big squad management:

    HENDERSON

    AWB
    MAGUIRE
    TUANZEBE
    SHAW

    FRED
    VDB
    POGBA
    MATA

    MARTIAL
    GREENWOOD

SUBS: DDG, LINDELOF, MCTOMINAY, TELLES, MATIC, FERNANDES, CAVANI, RASHFORD (if not out injured)

    4-4-2 Diamond

    1-2 win

Martial 100% has to start this btw. He loves playing against West Ham.

6 goals & 5 assists against them from 8 appearances. His best record vs any club he's ever faced.

I hate Mark Noble. If oonly he always played as good against us every week. He'd be a world beater.

Noble doesn't really start for them anymore. Rice and Souček are their preferred pairing.

But agreed, he is always fired up when it comes to United. West Ham raise their game for this fixture.

    De Gea

    AWB Lindelof Maguire Telles

    Fred Donny

    Pogba

    Greenwood Cavani Rashford

So You think the 8 subs will start next week in the CL?

Everyone sounding so negative in some threads over this. We have won a club record 8 away games in a row and I expect us to win this one as well. Surely Axel deserves a shot after not getting anything since that PSG games which gives us a chance to rest Lindelof. Bruno and Rashford should be rested as well with Matic, Williams, Pogba and Greenwood coming in.

Can see Ole resting a few here. He’ll know that throwing away that CL group from such a strong position and the knives will be out.

    ————-——-Henderson—————-
    Williams-Lindelof-Maguire-Telles
    ———————-Matic———————
    ————-VDB————Pogba———-
    Mata—-—-Greenwood——-James

It’s all set for a disappointing draw here with the knives sharpened on OGS for the Leipzig game where he’ll pull out a win from nowhere a la Everton few weeks ago.

I think we are due a penalty.
And with that in mind I think we'll win (with a penalty).

Ole is the luckiest manager I have ever seen.
And when I say "lucky" I mean, lucky for him to save his job. Not lucky for us to win a string of games to win a trophy.

Think we need to start Henderson. Have to start Bruno but also have VDB in there at some point:
    Henderson
    AWB Maguire Lindelof Telles
    Fred McT
    Bruno
    Mata Caveman Rashford

Bring in VDB as soon as makes sense, if it does. Bruno needs a rest.

We need to think ahead for Leipzig, and Rashford and Fernandes need a rest.

    Against West Ham:

    ...................... De Gea

    Bissaka - Lindelöf - Maguire - Shaw

    ...................... Matic

    ..... Fred .................... Pogba

    .................... Donny

    ......... Cavani ........ Martial

Sub Cavani and Bissaka after 60 minutes.

    Against Leipzig:

    ................... De Gea

    ....Tuanzebe - Maguire - Lindelöf

    Bissaka - McTominay - Donny - Telles

    ................. Fernandes

    ..... Rashford ...... Cavani
