    I'd like to see

    Henderson
    Bissaka - Lindelof - Maguire - Shaw
    Fred - Mctominay
    Bruno
    Greenwood - Cavani - Rashford

De Gea and Pogba will probably start though over Hendo and Fred

With big Sam going full on aerial bombardment, DDG should be nowhere near the 1st 11!

Given injuries, the rest of the team picks itself. I'd bench both Martial and Rashford (on current form) but we have no viable alternatives so one of the two will play.

If Bailly's fit, get him back in. Otherwise the obvious line-up please:

    DDG
    AWB Bailly Maguire Shaw
    McT Fred
    Greenwood Bruno Rashford
    Cavani
I'd accept resting Rashford since he does look exhausted, and played 120 minutes. But even off the boil he's still one of our better attackers so it's hard to know who to bring in for him. I'm a bit sick of Martial.

EDIT: Tempted by people suggesting Hendo over DDG to deal with those Big Sam balls into the box. But I can't see Ole doing it.

Pogs is out for a few weeks

I'll be slightly annoyed if Martial drops out in place of Rashford. He's in the worst form of all our front guys but I just cant see Ole taking him out.

Anything back a (pretty easy) win and we can forget winning anything this season. This lot have a defence that makes ours look like the French World Cup winning back four!

DDG should be on the bench. Hendo look far more confident on Wednesday night and didn't put a foot wrong (admittedly having very little to do; not that that has stopped De Gea screwing up). Cavani must start ahead of Martial and I'd like to see Donny given a chance to get a few games under his belt now that Pogba is out. He clearly needs game time and to build up his confidence; you don't become a bad player overnight (although I recall saying that about Sanchez!!!).

We must start quickly and not give them a chance to get into the game - although I'm sure the absolute opposite will happen

Should be winning this one handily. I'd imagine Amad will be on the bench, hopefully this time we're in a position to bring him on.

I reckon he'll be an anused sub again and then he'll get his first minutes off the bench against Sociedad.

My biggest hope for this game is De Gea is dropped, it will send out a good message to the rest of the team that you can be dropped even if you have a reputation that means you expect to be a starter.

It’s highly unlikely though. Henderson will probably start the following Thursday night .

    Henderson
    AWB--Lindelof--Maguire--Shaw
    McTominay--Fred
    Greenwood--Bruno--Rashford
    Cavani

Subs: De Gea; Tuanzebe, Telles; Matic, Galbraith/Puigmal, VdB; Diallo, James, Martial

-De Gea has to be dropped.
-We need the Bailly recovery speed.
    -Overloading full backs.
    -Scotty to bomb on.
    Henderson
    Bissaka Bailly Maguire Shaw
    Fred Mctominay
    Fernandes
    Greenwood Cavani Rashford

We're finally going to be able to give lads a week off now. Play the B team against Sociedad.

This is a hard battle for sure, but we have traditionally played well against any team Big Sam in charge. It’s Wenger’s arse normally struggling against them.

Pogba is injured, but the fact that you wouldn’t want a fit Pogba to start in midfield against West Brom is baffling in any case.

WBA have lost 4 and drawn 1 of their last 5 matches.
This is exactly the sort of team we will lose to.
It's such a shame that many of our players cannot raise their game to play against teams in the relegation zone.

Out of interest, did Pogba play in the loss to Sheffield Utd?
If memory serves me correct Pogba tends to be a player who plays best against top teams.

2-1 West brom, we'll huff and puff for 60 mins before conceding from a lindelof/Maguire brainfart.
A Bruno pen will.get us back in it on 80 but we'll concede again in injury time from a one v one with De Gea hiding behind the goal.

Well yea, he did, along with 10 others. He also played in all the games we had won prior, seems odd to take a defeat and conclude anything simply from the basis that Pogba was on the pitch.

As for your more general opinion, fair enough, it’s an opinion. The general one I seem to read seems to be that he can’t be relied upon against top teams, at least not in the midfield. To me, it would seem odd to not want to play by far our most creative central midfielder and instead opt for runners and chasers against relegation fodder. As I said, football is opinions, but it baffles me how anyone would not prefer Pogba in midfield against a weak side camped back on the edge of their box to asking McTominay and Fred to break them down.

If memory serves me correct, he has been seen as higher risk against teams that will require us to do the most defending, as it hasn’t been his strongest suit. The type of defending we will have to do against WBA actually suits him best, as he’s comfortably one of our best defensive players from an aerial perspective.

Are you criticising us for a performance that hasn't happened yet?

    feck off

We will win this convincingly. Could see Rashford and Fernandes running riot, with Lindelof and Maguire handling their attacks with relative ease.

We are more flat track bullies these days.

These guys have the worst defence in the league. It's the first time I've seen a big sam team that concedes goals for fun. Looks like he's decided they aren't able to shut up shop or it won't be enough to keep them up and they need to attack more. For the record they've conceded 54 goals this season, the highest in the league. The next highest team are palace with 39. They appear to concede 2 goals on average with City, Leeds and palace all putting 5 past them. We should absolutely decimate these.

If Ole selects de Gea instead of Henderson... Even if we win 100 - 0, it is still the wrong decision.

    Henderson
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    McTominay Van de Beek
    Greenwood Bruno Rashford
    Cavani
We'll probably see Fred for Van de Beek and De Gea for Henderson.

If we get an early goal I can see us getting a few more and wining easily. The longer we go in the match without one the more chance of bundling our fragile defence over. You know Sam will target De Gea from set pieces and will look to punt balls into the box generally, and while we're usually fine from these kind of tactics we sometimes switch off and let dreadful goals go in.

Given we only scraped passed these at home, scraped passed Fulham away and lost against Sheffield United at home, we would be foolish to think that this will be anything but tricky, particularly with el gravy game raising his troops in the opposite dug out.

Henderson (Sure DDG will start mind)

    AWB
    Lindelof
    Maguire
    Shaw

    Fred
    McTominay

    Greenwood
    Bruno
    Rashford

    Cavani

    1-2: Bruno (pen) and Rashford

    Henderson
    AWB--Lindelof--Maguire--Shaw
    McTominay--Fred
    Greenwood--Bruno--Rashford
    Cavani

Subs: De Gea; Tuanzebe, Telles; Matic, Galbraith/Puigmal, VdB; Diallo, James, Martial

Would love to see either player make the bench, especially Puigmal. Doubt they will though as I think Ole will want three defenders on the bench, so either Bailly or Williams.

Yes what this season has told us so far is to expect another tricky game.

Big Sams home record against United.

    P13 W1 D6 L6 F12 A24

The Win was as Sunderland manager in 2016. Draws as West ham and Bolton manager

    DDG
    AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Shaw
    McTominay - Fred
    Greenwood - Bruno - Rashford
    Martial

Subs: Cavani - Van de Beek - Diallo

    WBA 0-5 MUFC

Ole puts this one to bed early, Cavani gets us goal differential, Van de Beek gets one last chance, Diallo gets out there for 5 or 10 minutes.

Miss the days under Sir Alex when we could put a team of second stringers out and still expect a result against lesser teams.

Also Henderson should start. Let's see how many fellow posters think that this is as ludicrous as what I suggested before the Everton game.
