Huge goal from Jesse, needed that then, could imagine they could have gotten another if he hadn't deflated them. Lingard, Young and Lindelof (besides Tony M) emerge with the most credit, what a weird match.

Lukaku may miss but he should be trying to run and help the team. When he loses, he just jogs and puts the team under pressure. He should be dropped for the next game but the main problem is Rashford thinks he can take the whole opposition on too and fecks up

Barca still offering 60mill for Herrera as I'll drive him there in Jan.

Hope matic ok need tom for arse game
I got slaughtered when I was searching for my car keys and passport for this trip a few weeks ago.

I don't understand how Jose is to blame for the mini mental capitulation of the team. Is he telling Lukaku to be shit and miss easy chances? Did he tell Rojo to put in a stupid tackle in the box?

I knew the knives would be out for him from the same suspects the moment we conceded, when in fact we should've been 5 or 6-0 up before they even got the pen.:lol:
He was probably saying we'd be lucky to draw before the game.

Freak performances by Young and Lingard. First game with 2 goals for Young since 2012 and a first ever game for Lingard with a goal and an assist.

    I don't get it either
The forum is full of spastics

Clearly we came out the 2nd half witha different mind set and that came from one person.....the manager. We at back and let Watford play it's way back into the game. That decision to do that comes from the manager.
    True.

Great win although we created some problems for ourselfes.

Young, Lingard fantastic games for both. Smalling, Martial and Lindelöf very good as well.

Rojo not good today. Not sure he should start at the moment. Matic need to step up. Lukaku played well, but should have scored.

Confidence. Lukaku needs it, Martial didn’t.

He took off Lingard not Martial.
I don't see any confidence crusher in taking him off so Zlatan can get a run out as well and maintain a reasonable team shape.

What, Lukaku is slow too now? Jebus. He's in need of confidence, that's it.

    What? Who said he's slow?

Have you not witnessed Rooney take five mins to shoot and also seen Lukuka doing the same? He did a great impression of Rooney in todays game. Maybe your stream went off?

See how we dominated them in possession in the first half and in the second half they dominated possession, that is not due to the players, that is due to the tactical instructions, instead of maintaining possession and killing off the match, we invited them on. Lucky for us Lingard pulled a worldie , it it wasn't for that it would have made for a nervy ending.

Calm down, he is involved in 2 goals. I agree that he should have scored that easy chance but it happened to anyone. I think he needs to get his confidence back.

We took off Matic to rest him / because of injury?, Herrera is in bad form, and so is lukaku. Not as simple as just us taking our foot off the gas as we're told to
Disagree, from such a dominant position the lads have yet again been told to park the "so called" bus and once again failed. When the obvious thing to do was keep possession and taking the game to Watford.

Lingard took the pressure off towards the end but, for me, it just masks the same old problem. We should have picked up a whole lot more GD today.

Watford cannot score if we have the ball. Matic had a really poor game from the off and looked like he was carrying an injury. Glad he got replaced if that was the case as he is so important but to say we have to go full on defensive if one player goes off is insane!

EDIT: Having said all that I'd have taken a scrappy 0:1 before KO :p

Lindelof was very good. and wow, Lingard solo run goal was fantastic. happy and satisfied with 3 points, just a bit disappointed with Lukaku missed very good chance and how watford managed to score 2 goals.

Almost jinxed ourselves, but credit to lingard he saved our arses today. Drop in quality from matic to herrera is so evident and so is from martial to Rashford. Think Martial will be ahead in the managers thoughts if he continues these performances.

Going defensive or not, there is simply no excuse for having that breakdown the way we did in the second half. We should not be losing 3-0 leads, no matter who the manager is. This was a mentality issue, not tactical.

If Lukaku had put away the two chances before the Deeney pen then I guarantee no one would be mentioning the defensive formation in the second half and the Jose haters would be in their shells. Nothing to do with tactics.

Then again some posters would rather we had Klopp in charge and give up 3-0 leads to Sevilla with the magical care-free attacking football he plays.

This seems unusually sensible for one of these threads. You sure you're in the right place?

Hopefully just a run of bad form from both, tbf on them they have shown better in the recent past.

I think they shown in a team of average players focused on a cup runs. I do think Rashford with hard work and talent can be a good player but its clear he just is below martial's level. As for herrera, i like him a lot but so much has been lost from his game under different managers, he cant seem to pass forward well and he had a great through ball at athletic that seems to have gone, pretty sure he cant have a longer pass than 20 meters. He was great at interceptions last year but seemingly has gotten worse. He plays like well cleverly, we all know how useless cleverly was.

    He took off Martial too.

The worrying thing is how much possession we are giving opponents especially in the second half. Matic looked out of sorts from the kick off before he limped off.

    He took off Martial too.

I said he could have subbed Zlatan for Lukaku and you talk about Martial not needing confidence.
It was Zlatan for Lingard! Anyway, i see you just want to argue so carry on.

Glad to be proven wrong tonight, good performance despite some nervy moments. Away games against mid to lower table teams scare the shit out of me so really glad to have this one over with. Lindelof was outstanding tonight and I can now see why we paid the money for him. Hope he can keep it up now. He was also brilliant against Italy in the playoffs, so I am hopeful.

Feck me it’s not a hard point to comprehend. Lukaku needed confidence, which doesn’t happen from being subbed. That’s why he didn’t come off when Martial did, and that’s why he didn’t come off when Lingard did. I don’t know how I can make that any simpler for you.

Delighted with Lindelöf's performance. Very reassuring to see that he has it in him. Hopefully he can deliver consistently like this.

Same. He's looked really good the last 2 games. It'll be interesting to see if Jose trusts him for the Arsenal and City games. I thought Smalling defended really well tonight too, as did Rojo up until his brain fart.

Where have I said we have to attack like Liverpool? You take a 3 goal lead, you maintain possession, you play safe passes, just like LvG football, you do that the opponent will open themselves more making it easier to counter attack. Instead we concede possession and give them a chance, we go deep and deep in to our own box, we become narrow and allow crosses to come in and put unwanted pressure on our defenders.
