I'd go with fellani in midfield and try to control the game and work towards creating chances, rather than have a raft of attacking players with no cohesion and constantly losing the ball. Let's try to get some control back in games and bring back the speed on the counter which we had in early season

This is the squad, if the Mirror are to be believed:

    Manchester United's squad:
De Gea, Romero, Pereira, Valencia, Young, Tuanzebe, Jones, Bailly, Darmian, Lindelof, Rojo, Smalling, Shaw, Blind, Pogba, McTominay, Matic, Herrera, Fellaini, Lingard, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Rashford, Ibrahimovic, Lukaku, Martial.

That's just all the definitely fit players, I'm pretty sure. Only 20 or 21 will actually travel to London for the game.

I agree. Mourinho talked about this problem after the Brighton game:

"I wouldn't be surprised if today some of the pundits say we play with too many attackers. I wouldn't be surprised. But if they say that, I think they were right. Sometimes you play with too many attacking players and you lose control of the game. We had a few problems defensively because [Nemanja] Matic and Pogba, they were a bit isolated in the centre of the park. The three players that played with Lukaku, they didn't get the ball, nor successful on the one against one. Marcus didn't have a happy match at all. So we didn't have creation."

What I don't understand, though, is why he didn't bring another midfielder earlier on Saturday? His first two subs were Zlatan and Mikhi. Any way, he can do it in tomorrow's away game. I also think that Pogba will feel more free to go forward when Fellaini and Matic are behind him.

    --------------De Gea--------------
    Valencia--Smalling--Rojo--Young
    ---------------Matic--------------
    ------Fellaini----------Pogba------
    Rashford------Lukaku------Martial
    I would go for that.

I don't think Mourinho will go with both Rashford and Martial for this one. He's been banging on about how playing both of them upsets the defensive balance or whatever.

Mkhi would have slotted in, but since he's still serving after-school detention for being a lazy boy, I'd say Mata starts despite the concerns over him getting bullied.

I know it's easy to romanticise, but this is exactly the sort of game where SAF would spring several selection surprises and likely come out with 3 points while resting a few players for tough battles ahead.

I'm not too optimistic but Mourinho can really earn his corn in the next few games, or as others have said, we can likely kiss the title goodbye for this year.

    I'm expecting something like this:

    --------------De Gea--------------
    Valencia--Smalling--Rojo--Young
    ---------------Matic--------------
    ------Fellaini----------Pogba------
    Mata--------Lukaku------Martial

Watford are a good team, will be a test.

Agree with posters opting for a 433 for this one, although I wouldn't be surprised to see a few rested for the weekend.

    --------------De Gea--------------
    Valencia--Smalling--Lindelof--Young
    ---------------Matic--------------
    ------Herrera--------Pogba------
    Lingard------Lukaku------Martial

With Ibra, Fellaini and Mata to come on.

People commenting about Lindelöf facing Deeney, but I'm more worried about Richarlison's speed.

Unless Pogba is rested, hope it's not a true 3-5-2.

I'd rest Matic. Yes it would be a brave call but we can't afford to rest him vs Arsenal or City.

I think Richarlison scores at least one and torments Valencia for 90mins. That's where I see all their danger coming from, down that side.

Really? He'd be my first name on the team sheet for tomorrow. And any game for that matter.

Watford away is not the occasion in which to rest you're most composed footballer.

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Rojo Young
    Fellaini Matic Pogba
    Rashford Lukaku Martial

Subs: Romero, Lindelof, Darmian, Herrera, Mata, Lingard, Zlatan

Tough match, we've been rubbish there the last two years and they're a better team these days. Wouldn't be too surprised if Valencia and/or Young were rested, think Jose will be wary of them playing three games in a week but then Darmian and Blind's performances last week might leave him no choice.

I know but he's so important and looks like he's slowing down slightly. He's played almost every game and could do with a rest considering he'll be vital in both top 6 games.

Think AVs pace and power will somewhat nullify him.

Didn't he recently get 2 weeks off during the internationals?

I see Jesse in this for work rate and defensive discipline to maintain shape, and us grabbing the win with a 2-0 scoreline, Martial and Ibra the scorers.

Ohh sooo very optimistic, that is what is required!

Lads we might as well not turn up, as thee is just too much pessimism here.

    Deary me.

Its an opinion, me thinking on the evidence in front of us that Watford who are playing well and looking really exciting, and us who look pedestrian and uninspired playing away from home will lose.

We got mullered there last year, and Watford have already beaten Arsenal at home, and are fresh off the back of destroying Newcastle United away, while we are coming in off the back of tumescent spawny home win against the mighty Brighton, whos entire club is worth less than 50% of our star midfielder.

Pack it up eh lads, no point in the other teams coming, we will win every match come on you reds.

    Ffs.

When Bailly and or Jones will be back? Hope they can come back before Arsenal if not this.
Really I'm not optimistic about a win vs Watford, think they will raise their game even more they already are, really hope Jose just go for a win from the start.
    I'd go with:
    --------------- DDG----------------
    Valencia-Smalling-Rojo-Young
    --------------- Matic ---------------
    ------Herrera------------Pogba--------
    Lingard-------------------------Martial
    ----------------Lukaku--------------

I'm looking forward to seeing how Richarlison plays against us.
    Looks a talent.

He should give Valencia a lot of problems.

Since Mikhi hadn't travelled and I don't see Jose throwing all our attacking players in such a tough game, starting Lingard in this is starting to look a bit logical.

Wow man! You are a bundle of joy. May be having Darmian in that spot would cheer you up more. On a serious note here, if Val starts, he will have Richarlison in his back pocket. Let’s see.

I think Darmian will start at LB with Young at RW ahead of Valencia to deal with Watford's main threat down the left. It's got nothing to with being a bundle of joy, it's just realistic, this will be a very hard game that we will be looking to grind out with a fairly negative workhorse gameplan IMO.

Could be. I am betting on Darmian coming in for Val and Young at LB. Darmian for all his brain farts, is pretty good on one on ones. We’ll see. I think we will get a result tomorrow.
