Oh, the old "great service" chestnut. They have been paid very handsomely for their great service. Playing Carrick and Rooney in midfield against Spurs is suicide. We deserve to get battered here for sheer stupidity in the team selection.
I know it's a meaningless game, but I'd rather see what players like McTominay are made of rather than seeing the same tumescent shit we've witnessed for the past 3 years from our captain.
We have been doing this even under SAF in his final years. Gone are the days we put out a team of stars and just said "We are better then you, it's your job to stop us". These days it's "They have a good winger, play a defender for him". You end up with a team that can only do one thing, try and stop them. I hate it.
Mourinho will very rarely do that against a team he sees as an equal.
