Would love to see a return on Angel Di Maria to the squad. Maybe even more so..Herrera, just because he can keep the ball and more importantly, keep it moving forward quickly.

It is going to be a very tough game for us. They will play long and they will put crosses in at any given opportunity. Van Persie, Rooney and Falcao need to take their opportunities that our midfield are creating for them. I actually think Falcao will score tomorrow from the bench.

    My line up would be:

    ---------------------DDG-------------------
    -------JONES--SMALLING--EVANS--------
    VALENCIA--------------------------YOUNG
    -----------HERRERA--CARRICK------------
    ----------------ROONEY--------------------
    ------------------------MATA---------------
    -----------------RVP------------------------

I can only speak for myself as I'm certain that VG is the right man and will get us back top but our away form has been average so far. We'll get better it's just that I think we still have a few poor results away from home yet.
I agree the results have been poor away from home, but I would say only 3 games have been poor performances, and one of those was due to the second half capitulation against Leicester, when we were purring at the first half. Most have been complete domination with very poor finishing. Also, we seem to have a knack of starting the second half in even slower motion than the first, which we then find hard to step up a gear.

Seems lost on many that the bulk of games played this season have comprised only last years players. LVG has certainly upped their performance. I do think we will get better when all the new boys are playing.

Think this could be the line-up:

    De Gea

    Smalling - Carrick - Jones

    Rafael - Herrera - Rooney - Young

    Mata

    Falcao - Van Persie
But perhaps maybe Young at RB instead of Rafael? (with Shaw coming in at LB)

LVG seemed very pissed off at Rafael against Spurs.

I know you could say he's just come back from injury and has to find his 'match rhythm' and 'adjust to the philosophy', etc. - but he was making basic errors everytime he got the ball... frustrating to watch.

    Is Valencia out?

Be very nice to come away from the Brittania with 3 points. Can't let the scouse and Goon peg us back

    Tough test tomorrow

Stoke are obviously a physical side and having Mark Hughes incharge is a match made in heaven.

BUT.. i still expect 'football' to win at the Britania tomorrow. 3-0 to us. 3 first half goals.

An early goal would set us up very nicely. We just need to stay calm at the back.

I reckon Hughes will look at his squad and pick the tallest players he has got, especially with Bojan out.

A scrappy 1-0 will do nicely. It would just be great to start the new year with a solid result!

Yep. Some actually thought those players weren't any better than what was on show last season. They obviously are but away from home I just think we have a way to yet.

Still think we will struggle vs Stoke.
Im nervous for the game, glad Bojan wont be playing but Diouf/Crouch can be a problem.
Stoke are in form and our away form have been poor.
Early kick off too,i dont like that.

Find it strange that LVG didnt rest any players against Newcastle and put out the same team 48 hours later away to Tottenham. In my opinion some player should have been rested but what ever.

Hope the team is ready for the game tomorrow and can play for the full 90min.
RVP should start,he has scored in his last 4 trips to Britannia.

I don't think LVG had many options going into the Newcastle game in relation to resting players.

I think RvP will perform tomorrow, however it would be interesting to see what would happen if Falcao was given the lone role up front. His movement is superb at times.

Good to hear LVG is as concerned as a lot of us are about our patchy away form , hopefully he has been drilling it into the players all week that we need to start performing in these kinds of games and getting the results as we just have not been good enough on away days so far.

Think he is more concerned about our results, than our form.

People seem to equate a draw at Villa and Spurs as evidence our form is shite. Reality is we could not put the ball in the net. If we were scrapping for a point then I could understand the pessimism.

Against Arsenal I think we set up to play a certain way, and we grew into it as the game went on. Nothing new in our games against Arsenal and same result as most times. Southampton, was a disappointment in performance, but we won. Chelsea battered them and got a draw.

I think he concerned about our form as well , he specifically mentioned he thought we that we were lucky in both the Arsenal and Southampton matches to get the results, he said we have to impose ourselfs more in these away matches.

I will be pleasantly surprised if we win this game. It would mean we are Vetter than I thinK we are.

no bojan is a big plus. if we play like we did at tottenham in the first half for the entire game i think we will win comfortably. herrera to come on in the second half and add some legs

    Another annoying lunchtime kick off.
    Argh Away Game !
Grrr Same bloody players still injured.

I would like to see a bloody different XI just to refresh the side. But those players don't seem to be coming back at all, surely we'd get a few million from insurance if we pronouced them dead. Could use that to Schneiderlin and a proper fullback.

DDG - Jones Smalling McNair - Rafael Carrick Rooney Young - Mata - RVP, Falcao
    Evans, Shaw and Wilson can be subs;

Hope to feck our players have recovered correctly this time. Stoke away is going to be gruelling test of stamina.
Have to get 3 points, our other rivals are gaining on us fast. Games like these need to be won from now on, no more fecking about on the road.

Working until 8 am tomorrow morning so will be a wreck for this. Predicting a nervous United win 2-1. Rooney with a screamer and a Jones header from corner.

    Think we'll see
    De Gea
    Jones Smalling Evans
    Valencia Carrick Rooney Young
    Mata
    Van Persie Falcao

    subs: Shaw, Herrera, Rafa

Happy New Year Red Devils supporters everywhere; Happy New Year lurkers, newbies, full members, to the cool person who gave me my first likes in 2014, to all the Caf people I have chatted to over the year. Lets hope 2015 is an amazing year for the club under Louis Van Gaal, starting with Stoke tomorrow. I will be on the road tomorrow, hopefully listening to radio commentary.
