    ------------DeGea------------
    Rafael-Smalling-Jones-Shaw
    ------------Carrick------------
    ----Fellaini--------DiMaria----
    ------------Rooney------------
    ----vPersie--------Falcao-----

I would like to see this team. On paper it looks like a difficult match, but hopefully we'll trash them.

Praying Ander/Di Maria/Fellaini are fit for this one, we need another midfielder to get Rooney further forward. Wouldn't be surprised if any of the former are fit to see us drop Mata, despite him turning up for his first away game and arguably being our MOTM today, he will almost definitely struggle here. Shaw and Rafael back will hopefully mean a revert to a 4 at the back, regardless of Young's good form.

Very good team but dont think ADM will be ready for this game... Also i think RVp and Falcao needs a rest or at least one of them, and mata doesnt deserve to be dropped

Need Fellaini and Herrera/Di Maria then we will win.

If not we will drop more away points.

Just saw that Fellaini has a fractured rib :/ I will go back to the drawing board!

LVG may need to give ground on one of tenets of his philosophy if we are to stand a good chance of victory here; either rush a player back from injury or change the system/approach on the pitch.

    De Gea
    Jones--Smalling--Evans
    Valencia--Mata--Carrick--Rooney--Young
    Falcao--van Persie

Not what I want but I think this will be the team.

Honestly wouldnt drop Young and Valencia just yet, Youngs crosses have done us well lately, and we looked nervous when we introduced our actual fullbacks today, let them earn a spot back in the team

    Falcao--van Persie

Reckon they'll be more than just the one change to the starting line up, I think LvG viewed Spurs as the harder game so played the best available players in the hope we would win, and then freshen things up for the Stoke game with the big players on the bench if they're needed.

I think we'll see Rafael, Shaw, Fletcher, and Wilson all starting, and maybe Herrera although I have no idea whether he'll be back or not.

LvG has said that Herrera was coming back next week after stating the names of those out injured. I doubt he will come straight back into the side. The rest, it seems, we can forget about.
I can see an almost identical line up we did today.

Another must win game! Not even a draw would suffice here.

    -----------------------------De Gea------------------------
    --Rafael-----------Smalling-----------P Jones-------Shaw--
    ------------------------------Carrick--------------------------
    --------------------Fellaini-------------Herrera----------------
    -------------------------------Rooney---------------------------
    ---------------------RVP-----------------Young--------------------

We are already dragged back into the top 4 battle when we should have stamped 3rd place in the bag.

Sadly Valencia went off with an injury today, so he could miss this game anyway. Rafael will slot back in, but he was often left out against Stoke when possible. I'd hope for Jonny Evans to be dropped, but I expect him to get the start and can't think of any other major changes despite the obvious fatigue against Spurs.

    de Gea
    Jones Smalling Evans
    Rafael Carrick Rooney Young
    Mata
    van Persie Falcao

Hopefully Di Maria or Herrera are back now - they should be fit, but probably not to play 90 minutes. Could also play a back four with Jones in midfield to get Rooney further up the pitch. Also, I'd personally play Tyler Blackett in this game but I doubt it'll happen.

We need midfielders in this game.
Second half today, when Spurs started pressing higher it felt like it was Carrick in midfield only. Rooney and Mata moved way to high up the pitch, wich is probably okey given they are offensive players, but the gap between defence and offence was way to big, and only covered by one man imo. So this match i feel like we need some real midfielders at the pitch.
One way to do it is to change to a back 4, considering we have both Rafael and Shaw back.
LVG also said Herrera would be back this week so maybe he would get a start?

So my team for Stoke would be :
    ----------------DeGea------------
    Rafael---Smalling--Jones---Shaw
    --------------Carrick--------------
    -------Valencia-----Herrera-----
    -------------Mata----------------
    -------RVP--------Rooney-------

If LVG is going to go with 3 at the back i would like to see :
    ----------------DeGea-----------------
    -----Smalling--Jones---Evans--------
    Rafael----------------------------Young
    ----------------Carrick------------------
    ----------Herrera---Rooney------------
    -------------Mata---RVP---------------

If Herrera still is out i dont know. I really feel we need a proper midfielder back.
Whats the situation with Fellaini? I heard he had problems with his ribs, but LVG said he was sick today.
Maybe he will play Fletcher, even though i hope not. I love him but he is probably over at this level.
    Anderson? Is he alive?

Win this and I'll be reasonably satisfied with our Christmas showings. 7/9 points vs Newcastle home and away games against Spurs and Stoke would represent a more than decent output. However if we drop points again all of our margin for error will be gone and we'll be in a battle for 4th place again, with a home game against a direct rival in Southampton coming up. Must win game, but Stoke will be well up for it.

I don't even know if these potential lineups are realistic, but when the squad is fit enough for a steady back two we have a pretty pornographic team.:drool::drool:

A bench consisting of world class talents Adnan, Paddy and James, with a reinvented Ashley and right flank potato Antonio, makes us a very, very, very competitive team.

And with four days of rest, many of these are actually possible candidates against Stoke. Absolute firework.

    Herrera is back for Stoke.

It's time to give Januzaj and Herrera a chance again, and an end to this 3-5-2 nonsense.

At the bery least I hope Rafael start in place of Valencia,

Out of interest, this "illness" which is afflicting Fellaini and Januzaj (and I think Herrera, before) and has kept them out for over a week - what is its name?

I think Di Maria may start. Fellaini aswell. Not sure what's happening with Herrera and Blind or how far they are away. I'd start with the same back 5. I'd also play Falcao, Rooney and Mata and give RVP a break. He can start against Yeovil.

I'll say we will win 1-3. We need to win it would set us up nicely for a good run in the new year.

Fellaini has a ruptured rib or some shit. Its some Belgian something

Can't believe I'm saying this but we need Fellani back to throw some elbows about, hopefully he will catch Huth with one of them.

I felt before the match against Tottenham, starting both RVP & Falcao again in 2 days was a mistake.

But the draw has made the Stoke match greater importance.

    DDG

    Rafael Smalling Jones Shaw
    Carrick
    Mata Rooney Young
    Falcao RVP

    ----------------DeGea-----------------
    -----Smalling--Jones---Evans--------
    Rafael----------------------------Young
    ------Herrera----Carrick-----Rooney---
    -------------------Mata--------------------
    -------------------RVP------------------

    Think Falcao will be rested

I would like us to score early here and get the game finished. Stoke have some ridiculous statistic like theyve only scored a handful of goals in the second half this season.

Other than Shawcross their defence has been atrocious this year so with two 9s and Mata i hope we can get at them.

Why does physioroom.com say Fellaini has rib fracture?
It will be fun to go into the Stoke match without Fellaini or Valencia..

    De Gea
    Rafael Jones Smalling Shaw
    Fletcher/Carrick
    Rooney Young
    Mata
    RvP Falcao/Wilson

Subs: Herrera, Wilson, Pereira, McNair, Blackett

This is what we will play because of injuries :)

Not looking forward to this, players will be tired and new years day games are often hard work. Hughes will really want to beat us too. Think we might sneak a draw with a late goal.

Probably too attacking but I would like to see:

    -----------De Gea-----------
    -Rafael-Jones-Smalling-Shaw
    -----------Carrick-----------
    ---Rooney------Di Maria----
    -----------Mata--------------
    -------RvP-----Falcao-------

    De Gea
    Jones McNair Evans
    Rafael------------------Young
    Carrick Rooney
    Mata
    Falcao Van Persie
I think LvG will be looking for consistency here - most likely go for a similar team to Sunday and Boxing day. Only change I think will be Rafa in for Valencia as Valencia was seemingly injured in the Spurs match.

If however Fellaini is fit, his Strength will help, in which case I would like to see:

    De Gea
    Jones McNair Evans
    Rafael------------------Young
    Carrick Fellaini
    Mata
    Falcao Rooney
Falcao also has considerable strength and probably up for the battle against Stoke so would put him ahead of Van Persie. We need Mata's movement in this game to get balls through the defence.

    With Herrera back i expect,

    -----------De Gea-----------
    -Rafael-Jones-Smalling-Shaw
    -----------Carrick-----------
    ---Herrera------Rooney----
    -----------Mata--------------
    -------RvP-----Falcao-------

    De Gea
    Jones McNair Evans
    Rafael------------------Young
    Carrick Rooney
    Mata
    Falcao Van Persie

You really want a 3 backline with McNair and Evans when we have Rafael, Smalling and Shaw available, Mehool? And Carrick-Fellaini as a duo on midfield? That's just too slow without either Herrera or Di Maria around them. I hope we start with Rafa-Jones-Smalling-Shaw in defence, Evans and McNair hasn't impressed at all when they've played. Also, we need to start with a dynamic and creative midfield. Rooney will play a big role in this match. Falcao and Persie should both start at top again imo, and if one of them is having a bad day, Wilson could come on. I agree with what you say about Mata.
