You're criticising a referee for getting a decision right according to the laws of the game.
You can't just have referees make it up as they go along if they don't agree with the law. It would be mayhem.
I actually didn't have much of an issue with him coming off last week, besides the fact it was Rooney that replaced him. Carrick does struggle when pressed and Liverpool were excellent in that regard last week.
But he's crucial in games like this away from home where controlling the midfield is the first step to winning. Fail to do that and it ends up in a disjointed performance like this.
