He'll go with the same team.
Sancho to come on for last half hour.
Varane to come on last 20 minutes.
Cavani on the bench if he's ready, him or Martial to come on for last 20 minutes.

Varane isn’t going to start. He hasn’t even trained with us yet. Sancho might start. Please no more James. Even Elanga is a better option. It’s ridiculous we are sending Amad on loan yet we still keep James.

Think Ole will start the same team except Sancho might start.

Had a quick look at our previous games against Southampton and we really struggled with keeping clean sheet. They are much weaker side now than they were in the last couple of seasons so 3 points is a must, no excuses.

I'd be surprised if Ole put Varane in the starting eleven , I think it'll be more of a one at a time approach with Jadon starting and Raphael on the bench.

    2-0

Think it’ll be the same side. Sancho might come on a little earlier but his first start will be the week or two after. Can’t see Lindelof get dropped after being the best defender on the day too

    De Gea
    AWB--Lindelof--Maguire--Shaw
    McTominay--Fred
    Sancho--Bruno--Pogba
    Greenwood

Subs: Heaton; Dalot, Varane; Matic, VdB; James, Mata; Martial, Cavani

Sancho replaces James. If Varane is fit then I don't think there is even a question about him to start.

    I'm expecting:

    de Gea
    Wan-Bissaka Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    McTominay Fred
    Sancho Bruno Pogba
    Greenwood
    -----
Heaton; Dalot, Varane; Matic, van de Beek, Mata, James; Martial, Cavani

If Varane is fit then I don't think there is even a question about him to start.
Varane is the best, the most decorated CB in the team - of course he will undoubtedly be the first choice always. If - purely in theory - Lindelof is to win competition for a starting spot, he will need to displace Maguire. But it is highly unlikely anyway, because Maguire is a much better defender

It will be a different game to Leeds who gave us loads of space. Its not happening but I would love to go with

    ----------------------de Gea
    AWB-----Varane-----Maguire---Shaw
    ------------------DVB----Matic
    Sancho--------Bruno--------------Pogba
    ---------------Greenwood

Try and low block that Southampton!
Not really, Southampton are one of the most high-pressing teams in the league; very similar to Leeds in some ways. They'll be periods in the game where they play the low block, but early on they will try to unsettle us by pressing. I think sticking with the high-energy midfield is a good way to go.

I'd actually like to see VDB start but you can't drop McTominay after the performance he just put in.

I can see Donny getting a start here.

    Greenwood
    Pogba DvB Bruno Sancho
    Fred
    Shaw Maguire Lindelöf AWB
    deGea

I would play Donny or Matic over McTominay in this. Southampton are relentless in the press. We need ball retention. Also Sancho for James & maybe Varane for Lindelof (more likely bench)

Really curious to see who the front three will be. I assume Sancho should be available, but I don't know if Cavani will make it in time.

And speaking of the front three, who do we think are gonna be the main guys while Rashy is off?

I reckon it's either going to be:

    Pogba Greenwood Sancho
    Sancho Cavani Greenwood
    Pogba Cavani Sancho

    What's the general consensus?

gotta prepare for the 442 and set pieces against this lot.....need to be careful about giving away dumb fouls around the box b/c of JWP

Ole won’t immediately remove Victor from his team, and James will probably start again too, much to everyone’s annoyance, due to Sancho being ‘not quite ready yet’.
He instantly started Harry when he arrived. Didn't even bat an eye

    I predict

    Bissaka - Lindelöf - Maguire - Shaw

    ...... McTominay - Matic
    .............. Fernandes

    Sancho - Greenwood - Pogba

Varane will start. He'll have a weeks training under his belt with the team and has had a good 2 week rest after the euros. He's a fecking superstar, he won't need weeks to settle in. James was shit and Sancho is better than him with 1 leg. Also, on a side note, were gonna feck these up...again.

    De Gea

    AWB Varane Maguire Shaw

    Mctominay Fred

    Sancho Bruno Pogba

    Greenwood

As long as we adapt to the away atmosphere with no problems then we should have far too much for them.

Sancho or Martial in for James

    ——————-De Gea—————
    AWB—Varane-Maguire-Shaw
    ———-McTominay-Fred———-
    Sancho——--Bruno——-Pogba

    9-0

Blows my mind that people are putting Matic in their XIs. Are we just pretending the last 18 months hasn’t happened?

I think it will be the exact same team but Sancho for James,

There is no way Varane goes straight into the starting 11 especially with Victor just having a very good game, however Ole didn’t sign a player of Varane’s ilk to sit on the bench and both Varane & Victor know that, one thing Ole’s been great at is integrating players at the right time without much fuss, it will happen over the next 2-3 weeks but will be done very subtly.

Ole won’t immediately remove Victor from his team, and James will probably start again too, much to everyone’s annoyance, due to Sancho being ‘not quite ready yet’.

Despite his very good first game fo the season, Lindelof over years never showed enough to be trusted longterm so absolutely no doubt when Varane is fit he will replace him.

DJ - I think Ole have seen enough and even cameras noticed his a bit of annoyance with him and his finishing, so would believe 1 week is long enough for Jadon to be fit to start. Also don't know how far from transfer to WHU Lingard is but he should definitely be ahead of him but probably on his way out..

I doubt Sancho's will start but perhaps more time off bench. I reckon we might see Martial start, most likely in place of James and Greenwood moving right. Can't imagine Varane will be more than a bench player. Would be great to have Cavani involved too but no chance of starting.

    This

I think Southampton are going down this season. Should be a comfortable 3-0. Sancho in for James from the start, otherwise unchanged.

It will be a different game to Leeds who gave us loads of space. Its not happening but I would love to go with

    ----------------------de Gea
    AWB-----Varane-----Maguire---Shaw

Try and low block that Southampton!
I’d go for that too. Strong midfield base to control the game and attack attack attack. Interchange between Sancho Pogba Bruno and Donnie would be

    De Gea
    AWB - Varane - Maguire - Shaw
    McTominay - Fred
    Sancho - Bruno - Pogba
    Greenwood
There's a small chance Ole sticks with Lindelof due to Varane's lack of pre-season and training sessions, but I'm thinking he'll want to develop the understanding between Varane and Maguire as quickly as possible so I doubt he'll waste any time. I expect Sancho to come in for James too.

They will press like hell and leave lot of spaces behind.

If Cavani is fit, bring him in else same team !
