Maquire can only play in a defensive way even in our opponents boxControversial opinion maybe: I would ditch any pursuit for Sancho and instead look at signing two top quality full backs.
Every time a full back gets involved in our attack (maybe not Shaw), the move breaks down when the ball gets to them. AWB in particular just passes the ball back infield. They can't take players on, their crossing isn't great and it means we effectively have two less players when attacking. It means that Rashford, Greenwood or anyone in those wide positions has to do two jobs: their own job, plus the jobs that the attacking full backs should be doing. We just look weaker in those positions. Hence why we often look one dimensional and have to go through the middle with Pogba and Fernandes so much.
