I'm not ready for more Spanish shithousery, feels like we see it every year at the moment. And you just know it we go into the qualifier we will get Barca.

This is another hellish stretch of matches up to the WC. I think we have to go near full strength here and try and avoid the extra two matches later in the season but it’s a worry how tired our team looked on Sunday. I think I’d go:

    DDG

    Dalot
    Maguire
    Martinez
    Malacia

    McT
    Eriksen
    Bruno

    Antony
    Rashford
    Sancho

    (Assuming Varane is still out).
He is. It’s been reported that he’s out till after the World Cup.

Hopefully Martial's fit enough to play a real part. Relying on Elanga and Ronaldo in a game where we must score 2+ won't be pretty.

i would hope he has one eye on Villa when it comes to the line up but we really need to win to avoid a much harder route to the next round -

UEFA Europa League group stage runners-up

    PSV or Arsenal
    Fenerbache or Rennes
    Ludogrets or Roma
    Union Berlin or SC braga
    sociedad or United
lazio Graz Fetnoord or Midgetland - (what a group)
    qarabag or nantes
    Ferencvaros Monaco or Trabzonspor

Third-placed sides in Champions League group stage
    Ajax (NED)
    Barcelona (ESP)
    Leverkusen (GER)
    Sevilla (ESP)
    Sporting CP (POR)
    salzburg or AC Milan
    shaktar or leipzig
    Juve or Haifa

Garancho has shown more than Sancho and why would you drop Shaw & Casemiro?

Resting not dropping. I thought Cas looked tired 2nd half on Sunday and I regard it as more important we have him for the Villa match. I also think Malacia is a sufficiently good cover to give Shaw a rest.

I wouldn’t have a problem with starting Garancho ahead of Sancho but I’m also keen we do give Sancho a chance to get his confidence back.

Case definitely looked like he needs a rest. Eriksen got one through illness and Bruno will get a rest through the suspension for the villa game. Rest for the important starters should not have to be forced by injuries and suspension.

Which means they'll certainly get a result against us

They're considerably weaker for this game. I know people are saying Silva is well past it but he’s a class act and they looked to have struggled without him in the team lately. Admittedly we are also looking weaker in attack but we should be good enough to beat these.

Antony and Martial are still injured and Sancho is ill so none of them have travelled.

    DDG
    Dalot, Lindelof, Martinez, Shaw
    Casemiro, Fred
    Bruno, Eriksen, Rashford
    Ronaldo
Can Garnacho play on the right hand side? If so I'd start him but gone for Bruno there instead as I'd rather not see Elanga start.

Our front line is stretched right now.

I think there are too many people on here who think pessimistically. We're in a decent run of form and I don't think Real Sociedad are a team to be feared of. We can easily take on them and beat them. I definitely think we should field a strong team and defeat them with more than 2 goals to finish top of the table. We weren't playing confident football at the beginning of the Europa League but we are now and we should definitely finish atop the table. We can rest players like Eriksen, De Gea and Rashford and still win the game. I think Erik Ten Hag will definitely go for the win and he should. Aston Villa are in the bottom half of the table and I think we can perform pretty well there as well because rotation of players in the second half of the Sociedad game is good enough and we can win both games.

Depends which Bruno shows up. If he can be good then I'm confident we can beat these comfy but the way he played over the weekend and how he usually plays with Ronaldo has me a bit worried.

As much as we could Martial back, glad to know not being rushed back.

With Sancho ill, Antony recovering at Carrington and Elanga having a very ineffective game against West Ham, Garnacho will start this. Hopefully he can put in the same type of performance. It will mean Rashford on the right though.

As long as we are really buttoned up against the counter, this will come down to finishing - maybe this will be the game where Ronaldo/Bruno/Rashford do put what comes their way.

Need to beat those lucky gits. The ref robbed us blind against them with that BS pen.
That was a disgraceful decision looking back, and could be the reason we end up playing one of the "big" CL teams dropping down... scandalous.

Justice must be served, we need to beat the cnuts. 3/4 nil please.

It'd be tougher, but I'd still fancy us very much against every team there. Milan or Sevilla would give us the biggest problem.

I don’t think ETH will start Garnacho, it will be the same front 3 as against West Ham.

We’re missing who most people would consider our best front 3 (especially at the start of the season). Going to be a tough game, with little on the bench to turn the game around if needed.

If Marcus won't score in this game I'm not counting on the other players to do it for us

No Antony or Martial which means Ronaldo and Elanga.

    This confirms we're finishing 2nd.

Word for word what I was about to write. We are in for a shit game of football with those two.

    ------------------------------de Gea
    Dalot--------Lindelof-----------Martinez--------Shaw
    -------------------------Casemiro
    ------------------Bruno-----------Eriksen
    VdB---------------------------------------------------Sancho
    ------------------------Rashford

Hmm, those omissions really hamper us. Does Garnacho play right? If not, feels it will have to be Elanga - Ronaldo - Rashford as a front 3.

Not injured, just remains behind to keep doing individual training.

Would love a Barca last 16 European game
I agree. Football is about having the biggest games to look forward to. I'd marginally prefer us to get through to the last 16 tomorrow but if not I want Barca.

Think we might even play Fernandes on the right wing and play Fred next to Case

What did Elanga do to deserve to start here?

Yet another case of a player being given starts as they have the right attitude despite playing woefully. Garnacho would offer more.

So all of Martial, Antony, Sancho out for this game which means guaranteed either of Ronaldo and Elanga starting if not both. I already know Elanga will be completely useless and unimpactful while Ronaldo no matter how much himself or anyone want to believe just doesn't cut it at the top level anymore. Not to mention he's completed 2 full games back to back already, so he'll be spent on top of him being mediocre to average.

I have no reason to believe Ronaldo who struggled to score against Sheriff and Omonoia despite being fed loads of chances will suddenly deliver against a much better opponent who will limit our chances compared to the likes of the former two.

Hoping the goals come somehow. Maybe Bruno has one of his better scoring game and Rashford continues his recent goal scoring form.

Not a fan of Fernandes on the wing, hasn't really worked out.
He's put in some nice crosses, Ronaldo's goal last week for instance.

He can still offer quality from that side, but would need Dalot to overlap a bit more.

I guess the question is, do we play Rashford or Elanga there otherwise? for me i'd rather play Fernandes and let him roam and push Eriksen higher.

    Enter Pellestri.

Also on the Instagram post it showed us as playing in that dreaded green kit. Along with Antony and Sancho out, are there any more bad omens for us?
