This leadership thing is a bit overstated imo.
Everyone should take responsibility in performances. Senior players should lead by example and younger players should not be afraid of taking on responsibility. It’s about the character within the team as a unit.
I don't mean leadership in the usual sense, but in relation to the 3 at the back system which is a little alien to our players, particularly those like Shaw or McTominay who are not centre backs to begin with. Understand both have played in this position/system in the past but usually alongside an experienced player who is used to the system.

They will likely require guidance on positioning, when to mark, when to cover etc. Not sure who can/will do that in Maguire's absence.

I know we are United and only a win would do but a point would be a great result tonight wouldnt it in the context of the group?

No one's talking about French football going broke after the news that MediaPro won't be able to pay the money for TV rights?

Their defence isn’t exactly good? I haven’t heard any of their fullbacks before and there’s another player in midfield whose name is Pereira. Who’s that? A youth player of theirs?

Time to kick start our season. Time to put these pesky baguette eating farmers in their place.

Danilo Pereira, 29 yr old on loan from Porto.

They aren't full strength by any means. We'll just have to keep the ball away from the front three :nervous:

Well yeah but we have our own front three for them to worry about (Bruno, Rashford, Martial) so they will be wary of us and our counter attacks. But of course they can keep the ball better as a team. I just hope we don’t make any silly mistakes at the back

    Agreed.

I'm still optimistic we'll do them but no idea what kind of a defence we'll put out.

I've gone for 2-2 in the prediction.

I said "almost" picks itself. That's because with Maguire and Bailly out we are obviously going to go with a back 5. So who are the players available for that? The guys I mentioned. The only uncertainty for me is who is in goal and whether VDB finally gets his start. But seeing as Pogba and Matic were both on the bench on Sunday and Bruno has been announced as the captain, this is what seems logical to me. You don't have to agree...

It's not that I disagree (which I do) just that now more than before it seems team selection is being questioned more than before - so many different scenarios being argued for. Will be very interesting. I hope Ole has the balls to keep Pogba as a sub option.

Hope Ole takes the bold approach and plays midfielders who can put up a battle and chase around. Start with Fred, McT, VdB and Bruno. Play Rashford alone up top. Pray for at draw at least.

I literally can't see us getting anything tonight but a hiding. Di Maria, Neymar and Mbappe running at our defence looks like it could be carnage.

We are going to need alot of luck

    I've gone with

    De Gea
    Lindelöf Tuanzebe Shaw
    AWB - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Telles
    VdB McTominay
    Fernandes
    Martial Rashford

But probably wrong. Went with VdB over Fred to have some more offensive flair since I got us with 5 at the back. If just 4 at the back I think Fred starts.

For me it's ideally a boring destructive match, and I'm happy with 0-0, but with our odd chances at scoring.

Sadly - some of that will also depend on the reffing today. And we all know how european reffing tends to go for us. Only good thing is that it seems like they re coming down harder on players like them who like to put on a tumble show.

I'll take a point today, but PSG are the type of club where our counterattacking DNA can flourish and steal all three points off them.

It went rather well in the last game we played against PSG, if I recall

    That doesn’t sound very bold

    Rashford

1-3, one of the great nights you'll be telling your grandkids about.

I like how the last line is centered as well. Tres symmetrique.

(also, I wouldn't be surprised if it's Fred where McT is and Pogba where Fred is. Also also wouldn't be surprised if it's Fred where McT is and Rashford where Fred is and Martial where Rashford is)

    I think it will be

    .................... De Gea
    ....... Timbo - Lindelöf - Shaw
    Bissaka - Pogba - Matic - Telles
    ................ Fernandes
    ........... Martial - Rashford

Yeah but it looks shit if you don't.

So apart from those 5 positional/personnel changes are you okay with my team?

I’ll bite your hand off for a point. I’m expecting a 3-1 defeat

I do fear PSG will see this as a chance for revenge for 18 months ago or whenever it was. Mbappe and Neymar could cause serious carnage in our makeshift backline whatever it turns out to be.

My boss, who is never available, made herself available for a meeting today at 3pm EDT.
