Eugh that was gutting. Newcastle deserved nothing, I don't care what the commentator said. Our defending wasn't the best but you can't even say we threw it away, their last 2 goals were ridiculously lucky (don't think it was a pen and I missed their first goal).

That's ruined my day something fierce. We better fecking smash Liverpool.

Your really asking for a let down mate.

So fecking pissed off. We scored three goals, but threw it in the end thanks to our garbage defence that is on the verge of collapsing every time they're put under pressure.

I was so fecking happy when Rooney scored that screamer for 3-2, but still had the feeling we could feck it up. Things would have been different had Fellaini scored for 4-2.

Darmian, Blind and Smalling were absolutely pathetic.

before we throw Fellani out we should throw Morgan out for how shit he played this game.

Fellani was clumsy but he had no one with him in midfield. And I was so pissed when Rooney was up there alone with 3 players against him and no one to help him.

Not the first time I have seen this.

So disappointed about this, we did what we had to to actually win, but defence and Fellaini conspired to throw it away. That header from inside the box straight to the keeper, absolutely ridiculous.

Can somebody tell me what Schneiderlin brings to the team????? Should go back to Southampton....and take Fellaini with him.

LOL people banging on about "results over performances"

MUFC has not played to get "results" since everton 3-0. the utter delusion for some on here is quite laughable. But i guess LVG backers need something to harp on about.

Our tactics were all bad tonight.

We should not have played such an open game as they were coming at us leaving their backdoor open.

We should have waited and hit them on the counter.

That's the story of this match and every match has its story.

Same for me and the weird thing is that the dislike has been consistent. It started when the first rumors of him being linked with us.
He's a player I used to hate as an oppo fan, always elbowing in games against us, really hated him. Wanted to like him, but it's just impossible. He's a lazy, one dimensional, crap player. I can't stand it when he wears the jersey.

Letting Fellaini on resulted in us playing a one man midfield. I am sure that Wayne contributed more than the Wig both defensively and offensively. Smalling all over the place, both fullbacks being out of their positions quite often showed that we are struggling defensively too. Praying that the scousers have a tough game tomorrow and do not recover for the weekend, if not we will be slaughtered at Anfield.

You can also predict when he's about to make a foul. He lunges himself stupidly into players.

Don't expect this again, while it was better it was pretty careless.

We were out possessed and they had more shots, LVG will clamp down.

A boring 1-0 win would have been better in hindsight.

To be honest , I thought we played OKish, seen us play worse, much worse.

We created chances, which was a welcome change. But we looked atrocious at the back almost every time they attacked. Overall, we just weren't good enough.

    Gabriel Heinze...ugh !

He's different. We loved Heinze right up until the end.

I disliked Fellaini before he arrived, hated his signing and have felt dirty watching him in a United shirt ever since. The least Manchester United player we have ever signed for me.

So when United had many 1-0 grind it out wins, everybody banged on about the 3 points. Just win, just get a result no matter how ugly or beautiful. And to say United play just to pass the ball around and get a paycheck, that's crazy dumb. You play at the highest level to win, it doesn't always happen.

The utter ignorance of performance over results is a mentality of compromisers. Yes, good performances should typically yield good results, but this isn't an individual examination, this is football, it's a competition.

Many of us balk at The Invincibles because the amount of draws their team had and how strong their defense was during their undefeated season. They got the results, regardless of a shambolic 2-2 draw or 1-0 borefest. Results matter and today's result was crap because United led 2-0 and threw away multiple leads.

Everybody is going on about the 2 missed chances. Firstly it was actually 3 Rooney was clean through one on one with the goalkeeper as well. You don't score with every chance not even Messi has a 1/1 shot/goal ratio. We scored 3 and missed 3 that's a 50% conversion rate. the best in the league for the season is 19.7%

But the main thing was our inability to defend. This shower hasn't scored a goal in 4 matches before today and they walked through us.

I think that people are also forgetting that DDG made a couple of world class saves.

The defending as a team kept the game too open and again, just not enough bodies in midfield to compensate the runs forward from Newcastle. One goal was a PK, another was a screamer after hectic times in the box after United couldn't properly clear.

    Just so frustrating.

He has absolutely no right to berate the players for the one game where we actually had chances/sitters. It does not explain away 18 Months of nothing.

It will only shatter what budding confidence the players have developed after showing they can make chances.
If he berates them for missing the chances then it does explain 18 months of nothing. If a player gets dressed down for missing a shot then no wonder why they are afraid to take shots on.

I don't blame the missed chances for us not winning this match. have allowed a poor team to score 3 against us. that's the problem not that we didn't convert every chance we made.

You keep going on about results, since everton (October) it has been

Please tell me when MUFC played to get "results"?

Yeah they walked through us at times.

When were we grinding 1-0 wins out. People were complaining because we were drawing too many. Too many 0-0 draws. Well guess what, that was another draw we managed from a team in the bottom 3.

That was the most entertaining game of the LVG era and I thought the first half in particular was very good, we were a constant threat and Rooney was more effective than he's been in ages with two goals and an assist.

It still obviously isn't good enough though when you let in three goals against a relegation threatened side. Every time we try and play an entertaining brand of football, we look like conceding constantly. The Wolfsburg game in the CL was the same.

For clarification purposes, when I'm referencing to results, I'm talking about it as a whole. I would rather take results as in 1 point or maximum 3 points (obviously, more wins the better), over said mesmerizing performances that we want to see. Dire 1-nil wins or wins and draws are much more positive than a performance that yields entertainment/interest to an observer, but the tables don't reflect the aesthetic too many people harp on.

United have only taken 2 points from 6 against Newcastle this season. I think it was a 0-0 draw at OT.

It's a draw, but we threw the 3 points away. United were in winning positions at least 3 times at 1-0, 2-1, and 3-2.

We shouldn't be conceding 3 goals against them. The fact that they held us 0_0 at home is also disbursing.

Yep, agreed. Mitrovic had that effort against the crossbar at OT. That was more of a fortunate draw. Where as tonight, especially going up 2-0 in the first half, my goodness me. Newcastle was always going to react the second half, McClaren isn't going to let him lay down against United and it's only January, not April or May.

Win majority of home matches, win the fair share of away matches and the rest will go either way. But when you're up so many times, you have to close the match out. FFS.

Haven't been this gutted in a while. Yes, we haven't been entertaining of late, but after a number of games, where we struggled to score and looked pretty dull, at times, to scoring three in one game and end up drawing with a last min goal pains even more. I'm so pissed.

    On the positive side:

    We scored three
    Looked good on the counter
    Created chances
    Rooney continuing his goals

Hoping we can take this attacking football into the Liverpool game, especially as they'l struggle to get a back four together.

Hmmm Smaling definitely fouled him. I guess you're saying Mitrovic tugged him first. That being the case, it's not fair to punish Smaling. Dumb commentator said that it's great to see him (ref) give the advantage to the attacker. Oddly, he never said that on United's penalty.
