See I don't agree. Our players are clearly not being positioned to succeed here. There's no way their making out with these many second bal simply because of effort. Our players can't find passing lanes. Put Shaw, Maguire, Mainoo and Bruno in this Newcastle side today and they would performing well. Something's up here. ETH is failing tactically. The full back mishaps aren't a coincidence. These are man marking instructions gone wrong, and it's really eating into our build up and transition defending. It's poor management, simple as.
Rashford's energy is poor, but the fact is, at United, I wouldn't expect him to have to be a full back for most of the game. He hasn't even had a proper chance to attack. There are bigger issues here and the win record before was masking it when it was so blatant. For the past few weeks we haven't been able to move the ball up the pitch without going direct. Today is the first time it's come to haunt us in the league. It's disgusting that a club like United can be made to play like this just because of a few injuries. That has absolutely nothing to do with recruitment either.
I don't believe for a second that teams like this Newcastle, Brighton or Spurs have comparatively better players than us. They're just better positioned by their manager's to succeed, whilst ours has seemingly given up and has resorted to route one antics that he doesn't even know how to do. He's not a great defensive coach, he's not great at orchestrating a transition either and its showing.
