It’s really obvious too, when we’re passing out from the back that we have no options after we’ve played two or three passes there is no forward showing beyond his marker for it at all it’s really basic stuff.We're obviously second-best in midfield, but we're actually defending our own box quite well. Our man marking scheme is terrible defensively. Also the fluid defence with full backs coming inside is not working for us and hasn't worked for us so far this season. We are still being outmanned in midfield and the space given when moving inside is killing us on the flanks. This has what's been hurting us defensively.
In attach, Mctominay isn't doing anything. Our attackers are pretty isolated and Martial can't hold the ball up, so we have no forward outlet even when playing direct. It's all been very poor, but I actually blame tactics, not personnel. On the ball, Bruno, Shaw, Mainoo have been really good.What's bad for us is Newcastle have had to accept 20-30% possession against other teams and here we are making them look like world beaters.Newcastle can't hit a barn door.If we can keep it 0-0 for 75 mins I think we can nick this. Newcastle will tire at the pace they are playing, and they don’t have much on the bench.
I’d rather play Amrabat and Mainoo and let Bruno go further up.
