Greenwood has been class though, really stood out in terms of game intelligence and workrate has been great.

I don't think we've been anywhere near as poor as some people here are saying. we are zipping the ball around much quicker and finding each other way better than a few weeks ago and I like the fact that the boss is out on the touchline the whole time
We def aren't poor as a team. We're being let down by moments of individual stupidity.

Very poor by Donny and AWB on their goal. You’re not getting into the main team if you do that. Same with Lingard, who we have to cash in on at this point. Mata is poor and has declined to the point where he can’t decline further, but we knew that already. I can definitely forgive Amad for that poor pass considering his age and rustiness.

In general though, we’ve actually done quite well in terms of coordinated high pressing and passing the ball quickly. It’s a far better performance than the one we put in away in Bern. Mason needed a goal, and all the better that it was a stunner.

Why? These players have barely had a kick of the ball all season, some not even one bit. This is a dead rubber game and the only time the fringe players and kids can play because from now on all our games are pretty much must win.

Out first eleven needs a rest and come back refreshed. They already played back to back games so some chemistry is there already.
is it 11 changes? just seems a lot since he hasn't seen everyone yet. not saying it's wrong, just that it's difficult for the team to not look disjointed

Awb showing very bad concentration levels and technical ability again. Curtains slowly down for this right back at united.

The old 'buzzing about that lineup, who cares about the result?' didn't last long.

VDB was good overall but he was way too casual for their goal.

Shouldn't be doing silly little passes on the edge of our own box

AWB was 19 when we bought him.

He has not progressed since then. Still the same, great tackler, but a bit lost on the ball.

As easy as it is to criticise hom for it, the club has to take the blame, we pay millions to backroom staff to help players progress. Its the thing we are suppoosed to be good at.
It looks to me he has even regressed, in his defensive game at least…

Donny isn’t a CDM and Mata is far too lightweight and slow to play in the central role.
Lingard is invisible and a disgrace.
Thats all of our central spine.
Two young inexperienced lads on the flanks, struggling to even get into the game and physically struggling.
Since our goal, we’ve been a shambles.
I can’t see us turning this around with just kids on the bench, unless something special happens.
Are we back to Ole time again, relying on moments?
    You don’t sound optimistic:)

2nd game for Ralf, bunch of kids and 2nd stringers who have barely played in months, game which means sod all in the grand scheme of things. I wouldn’t read too much into it.

Just realised our bench. Surely you use this kind of match to rest most of your key players but put at least 2-3 of them on the bench for 2nd half. We don't need to win this one obviously but you always want to win if possible.

Too much complaining from a dead rubber... Matic at CB and Mata at CM, with some inexperienced teenagers in Elanga & Amad.

I recommend that we lower our expectations, let's hope they play as good as possible

Decent half overall considering our lineup.

Hendo has been excellent and sweeps so much better than De Gea

Bailly and Matic have been very good, Matic dictating play out from the back and Bailly covering his lack of pace.

VDB has been good overall and worked his ass off out there. He let himself down a bit at the end there but Bissaka is more to blame for that goal imo.

Mata and Lingard have also been decent though Mata is beginning to tire now and Lingard has been sloppy at times in the final 3rd.

Shaw has been okay but I don't think he's been good enough to get his place back.

Greenwood, I didn't think he was pressing enough early in the half but boy did he make up for it. A fantastic goal and should have an assist also.
    What a talent

Elanga and Amad are nowhere near ready for this level and literally looked like school boys out there. We'd have won that half comfortably if Martial and Cavani were fit to play

Bissaka has been dreadful. A total non footballer. We have signed the RB version of Chris Smalling and I knew this all along. He's a mid table premier league player at best and won't last long here under a progressive manager like Rangnick.

I'm so impressed with Rangnick so far though. It takes some cojones to field a side like this so early in the job even though we're already through. He doesn't even have the top players on the bench to save him if we were getting embarrassed he's that self assured.

Amad hasn't been great but expected given its his first game in a long time.

Greenwood has been our best player by far, he's going to take Rashfords starting place soon enough.

Yes, I expect control. Of course I do. What young okayers do we have? Greenwood, Amad and Elanga? They are attacking players, and the former has arguably been our best player. We should be building and sustaining attacks better.

Also, you're right, we should have about 3 goals but that doesnt mean we're controlling the game. Its like a basketball game.

Listen to Rangnicks comments after the Arsenal match. He said its good for the neutrals and it was positive that we scored 3 goals but we lacked control. Thats exactly what's happening tonight. To say otherwise would suggest possibly you're the one not watching the game.
I’m not saying we are controlling the game but come on ,common sense should tell you that Ralf has only been here for a week and these players haven’t even had any form of consistent play time and still should have been leading so of course their game isn’t going to be fluid.

Just give it time, you are expecting too much in such a short period especially with the players on the field now.

To be fair I rarely use it myself, and i'm not sure why I decided to here. Maybe some subliminal osmosis by virtue of hanging around here too much.

    Use 'osmosis' in a sentence.

More industrial language, like this, please:

That goal was filth. Big up Mason and get the feck in there United.

Looking at this game from Ralfs perspective, he's probably thinking how on earth did we spend 50 mill on AWB and already thinking about a new rb and cm in Jan.

For the Dutch members here. United is now on Ziggo Sport Racing. No need for rivers anymore
