@GifLord can you get the Bailly last man dummy where he sold the attacker & Donny's backheel in the 6 yard box. Two moments of brilliant defensive madness.

Disappointed with the energy from a few of them. Expected the young lads to be buzzing with energy but Amad and Elanga look inhibited. If we can just start controlling the ball a bit better, we should beat these handy enough. More needed from the likes of Wan Bissaka, Shaw, Lingard, the experienced guys should be able to calm this down a bit, exert a bit more control.

Such an odd experience. There was nothing recognisable about the selection, or style of play. It was like watching another team play in United colours, I’m not saying this as a criticism, it was just weird and discombobulating(edit: @Sassy Colin).

At least the caf was consistent though, some on here seem to have equated supporting United with micro-bitching about every misplaced pass and error and using every mistake to pursue their own personal agendas against certain players…

that notwithstanding AwB is shite :wenger:

Full expecting VDB's fans to stay away from his thread only to come up with some nonsense how he's better than Fred the next game he finishes few basic passes

Any premier league player would have controlled the ball and got a shot off at least (or taken it first time). Lingard was not expecting it and that isn't good enough.

Harsh. I'm sure Ronaldo and Messi have never had similar or worse moments in front of goal. I guess PL and Manchester level players are all fault free machines. IMO Amad messed up. His reaction said it all. He fluffed his lines but we don't have to agree

Bit of a mess that half but what I expected from the line up. We have been quite wasteful and had our one major mistake punished with a quality finish. Think there are more goals in this for both sides.

Not that I'm that bothered by the result, and I don't think you can read too much inot thr performance, but I would like to see more effort and application out there. Show the new manager you want to impress and stake a claim. Pretty lazy and sloppy, and the goal we conceded typified that for both Van De Beek and Wan Bissaka.

Greenwood's goal was very good and he's done well overall. Had a couple of other pieces of nice play. With some better decision making from other players we could be at least 2 up.

Was sloppy by Van De Beek but he had his back to what might be coming while Matic was looking forward, should probably have played it to Lingard. Good finish though in fairness.

Not really bothered about the result but a bit disappointed in Jesse, he's a lot better than this. He keeps talking about wanting to prove his worth, he has his chance now and he's not taking it.

    Donny Van De Cleverly.
AWB want win his place back
Henderson makes me nervous, reminds me of Pickford.

    We will win though

people in this thread really are bonkers expecting some sort of amazing drilled performance

VDB will take that blame but that goal is on Matic. That’s the definition of a hospital pass. Just give it wide or play it long, VDB has a man on his back.
100% Donny's fault. Could have easily cleared it but the whole team became complacent

That happens if you play midfielders as CB. No cleansheet, #ralfout!

AWB just looks like a player who doesn’t care. That has to be the most frustrating thing as a fan, I can’t believe RR won’t have noticed that, can’t see a way he gets into the first xi anytime soon

We were good for 35 mins then went to sleep a bit, I think we have gotten a bit complacent, the players maybe thinking we don't need the win so don't have to put the extra 2-3% in which at this level punishes you. If I was Ralf I'd be going mad at HT, especially given he's dealing with young lads here who need to get it into their heads no matter what the occasion we must win, we can't settle for draws or losses, we must win. Get the concentration back up, get the passing going or you're coming off and you won't get a second thought for more important games.

It’s been both a decent and sloppy half from us. My worry is how many times they are testing our GK. getting far too many shots at goal for my liking. RR definitely has to calm these players down a bit as our play at times is just very frantically rushed and we are making a lot of individual errors.

I think we have been pretty sloppy throughout but I do love the system and it’s clear we are far better out of possession. Players like Lingard steal a living though, he’s shite.

VDB is awful in this game. Can't play a 6 to save his life. There's been free real estate all game round between our midfield and defence. Won't judge him too much based off of this game though. He's a 10.

Am going to back what I said earlier - expect very little as everyone is going to be super rusty. Simple passes are not coming off - should have easily had 2 more before they scored. Diallo with a terrible ball and Seemed easier for Greenwood to lay it to Elanga I think for a tap in than to Mata.

The pass by VDB, just like everything else that half, just off and paid for it.

He was probably expecting a £40m midfielder to be able to make a simple pass.
The pass was off target, but not that much. Only looked like it because AWB wasn't even trying to get to it. He could've easily reached it if he was alert enough.
Not saying that it wasn't Donny's fault, but AWB had a part in this one

    AWB, Lingard poor.

Mata, love him but pointless him being there for one game a season.

Henderson, needs to just stay in goal.

The young players still seem to be at same level as last season which is a shame.

100% Donny's fault. Could have easily cleared it but the whole team became complacent
You shouldn’t be passing it into that area when there’s so many bodies. It’s poor from matic.

Edit actually watching it back that is pretty poor from VDB too!

Harsh. I'm sure Ronaldo and Messi have never had similar or worse moments in front of goal. I guess PL and Manchester level players are all fault free machines

The fact is that a player receiving a pass usually moves towards the ball, not moving at all because he's not anticipated it made the pass look far worse than it actually was.

It is the same players that we know are not good enough, not being good enough. The midfield does not work and can't control the game. AWB is just not good enough for this type of football, slow and reactive and positionally very clueless.

Still somehow should have been 3 up and cruising.

Amad low on confidence after not playing much football for 4/5 months.

AWB is clearly our worst footballer out there, which is quite shocking considering the starting line-up. He should never be first choice again if we want to move forward.

I've almost never heard this word used in real life, yet on this Forum, everyone's at it. it's almost like a spelling bee:

    Use Egregious in a sentence.

It's not our fault if you are benighted.
