Wholesale changes needed given the winter schedule. Still want to see us play the 4-2-2-2 pressing game though irrespective of who is picked.

Hopefully we get to see Elanga & Amad get lots of minutes.

Assuming Martial, Lingard, Cavani etc are still out, I think it'll be more of a 4-3-3 if he's going to make wholesale changes...

    Henderson

    AWB Bailly Mengi Fernandez

    VdB Matic

    Mata

    Amad Greenwood Elanga

I think it’ll be a mixture of first framers and reserves/youth players. RR need to train his philosophy into the players quickly. He doesn’t have much time. I expect:

    Handerson
    AWB,Lindelof,Bailly,Telles
    Matic,Fred
    DVDVB,Bruno
    Greenwood,Martial

The way I’d come at this: who needs rest? Harry; Bruno; Dalot; Fred; Ronnie, Sancho. Telles, Dave. McT, as it looks like he’s central to RR plan.

    Hendo,
    AWB/Bailly/Tuanzebe (Varane)/Luke
    Matic/Pogba
    Lingard (MataDonny
    Martial/Rashford (Cavani)

    Nah.

I'm never one for much rotation in cup games, but a dead rubber group game is different. On the flip side to that, there's the 'is this a useful bonus game to get further used to the new formation' argument.

Both options are valid. But given the busy Christmas and New Year schedule coming up, I think I'd prioritise taking advantage of the chance to rest and rotate. Which also gives Rangnick a chance to see how some of the other players would fit into the system.

Depending on which players are ready to return or are still injured, I'd go with something like...

    Henderson

    Wan Bissaka
    Lindelof
    Bailly
    Shaw / Telles

    Van De Beek
    Matic

    Sancho
    Lingard / Amad

    Greenwood
    Cavani / Martial / Elanga

Guarantee Amad and Elanga are playing.

Ralf has balls like fecking grapefruits when it comes to blooding kids.

Hopefully you are right. That would be amazing.

Can't wait to watch Amad with Sancho and DvB

Phsyioroom has Lingard & Martial injured, do we know who out of any of AWB, Shaw, Varane, Pogba, Lingard & Martial have a chance of being back for this? Excited to see who we chose, would love to see Amad & Elanga start personally.

Why do people keep changing formation? He will want to implement his 4-2-2-2 and get players used to his system, one of the things he criticized was the fact we kept changing formations and system(s) and understood players were never going to adapt to that. Also those playing Tuanzabe and Jones are a bit strange as one is currently on loan and the other isn't registered for CL which Ralf even confirmed in the CP post match

None of the senior players should even be playing more than 60 minutes in this one, considering the upcoming Christmas schedule.

    Elanga Greenwood
    Lingard Amad
    Donny Matic
    Fernandez Jones Bailly AwB
    Henderson

Never going to start Alvaro Fernandez as he will play vs Spurs on Friday and Jones can't play in CL

Assuming that both Martial and Lingard are ok, I would play this team, but most important is to rest players for Norwich and Brendford away.

Don't think Fernandez is registered to play in Champions League.

CL SQUAD (Jones, Fernandez and other obscure choices cannot play if they aren't on the list, I think Hannibal is away as well)

    MAIN SQUAD

    GOALKEEPERS:
David De Gea, Tom Heaton, Dean Henderson.

DEFENDERS: Eric Bailly, Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Alex Telles, Raphael Varane, Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

MIDFIELDERS: Amad, Bruno Fernandes, Fred, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek.

FORWARDS: Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho.

    B-LIST

    GOALKEEPER:
    Matej Kovar.

    DEFENDER:
    Teden Mengi.

    MIDFIELDER: Hannibal.

    FORWARDS: Anthony Elanga, Mason Greenwood

This game is a chance for Rangnick to see the fringe players and the youngsters play.

At his age I don't think you have to be. Unlimited players under a certain age I believe.
See my post above, Players on the B-list must be born on or after 1 January 2000 and have been eligible to play for the club for any interrupted period of two years since his 15th birthday (by the time he is registered by UEFA), or three consecutive years with a maximum of one loan period to a club from the same association for a period not longer than one year.

I suppose this is when we select a side of non regulars so I will give a shout out for Hannibal as he seems to do well against other youngsters.

Do you work for uefa? Great spot though.

    Would love to see:

    Henderson
    Dalot Lindelof Bailly Shaw
    Donny Fred
    Amad Sancho
    Greenwood Elanga

Our options for the two midfield workhorse positions are awful, really need to get rid of deadwood and get some reinforcements in. Would love to see that front four though, I think Amad and Sancho would link up very well!

i think he needs to get the squad fit and involved. Biggest mistake ole made was making the first team impossible to break into no matter the match or previous performances

I do agree with you totally mate. It’s a dead rubber match so the perfect opportunity to rest most of the squad.

In an ideal world I’d like to see some continuity in his selection initially, just so the core group of players can quickly adapt to the new tactical approach but this unlikely to happen anyway.

I’d personally stick with The back four. Dalot and Telles have hardly played all season and Maguire looks to be finding a bit of form.

I think the rest of the team will see massive changes though.

Really hope to see Cavani in some fashion. If we're gonna play with two strikers then I think he's gonna have a big role this season.
