Berner Sport Club Young Boys, commonly known as Young Boys of Bern or Young Boys, nicknamed Die Gelb-Schwarzen (Yellow and Blacks) and abbreviated to YB, is a Swiss sports club based in the capital city Bern. One of the most successful club in the nations, Young Boys have won 15 Swiss league championships and 6 Swiss Cups, and in 1957, they were named the Swiss team of the year. Young Boys is also one of the most successful Swiss football clubs internationally, and reached the semi-finals of the European Cup in the 1958–59 season.

The club was founded on 14 March 1898 after a game of football with the Basel Old Boys Association playing against FC Bern as Fussballclub Young Boys by brothers Max and Oscar Schwab, Hermann Bauer and Franz Kehrli — who were studying at the University of Bern. The slightly older FC Bern submitted an offer to the YB leadership to provide grounds, changing rooms, and equipment if these students would play as a team affiliated with FCB with Young Boys still retaining their own leadership and statutes. In 1925, the association's name was changed from FC Young Boys to Berner Sport Club Young Boys. This year was also the last game on the old Spitalacker-platz as in October, the new Wankdorf Stadium by the architects Scherler & Berger was opened with a tournament. It was attended by the Old Boys from Basel, Servette Geneva, and the Young Boys.

Young Boys enjoyed their most successful period between 1957 and 1960 under German coach Albert Sing, when it won the title four times in a row and reached the semi-final of the European Champion Clubs’ Cup (now the Champions League). Young Boys's biggest rivals are FC Thun, FC Basel 1893, FC Zürich and Grasshopper Club Zürich. They play their home games at Stade de Suisse Wankdorf.

    Wholesale rotation for this.

    Henderson
    Wan-Bissaka Bailly Jones Telles
    Matic van de Beek
    Lingard ---------------- Elanga
    Martial Greenwood
If Lingard and Martial are fit.

    Henderson
    AWB-Bailly-Jones-Dalot
    ---------VDB-Matic--------
    --Mason-------Lingard--
    -----Martial-Elanga-----

Perfect fixture to build on style of play, i wouldnt change much from whoever our starting xi is. Make 5 subs

Can’t rest anybody bar Ronaldo. We need games under Ralph and quickly. This and Norwich could be a perfect few games next week

    ---------------- Henderson---------------
    AWB----Lindelof----Bailly---Telles
    ------------------- Matic --------------------
    ------------- VdB ---- Mejbri -------------
    --- Amad -------------------- Elanga ---
    --------------- Greenwood ---------------

1st place is secured so rest key players. Ronaldo mustn't play, he played whole game today and on Thursday, I wouldn't even put him in the matchday squad, let him rest for Norwich. Hopefully van de Beek starts this one.

I’d rotate a lot. It’s a nothing game and we have a lot of games coming up.

    Henderson
    AWB - Bailly - Lindelof - Shaw
    Matic - Donny
    Amad - Elanga
    Rashford - Greenwood

Can we please give minutes to young lads and not Mata? But if Martial and Lingard are not ready, then there is a place for him also.
Henderson, AWB, Bailly, Jones, Fernandez, Donny, Matic, Amad, Elanga, Greenwood, Martial.
    Shoretire from the bench.

Starting 11 can sit at home. Next game in PL is in 6 days, hectic period ahead, already qualified. They can use all their energy for training.

    Henderson
    AWB - Bailly - Lindelof - Shaw
    DVB - Matic
    Amad ---------- Elanga
    Greenwood - Martial
Maybe even give Jones a token start and sub him off when he gets injured within 5 minutes.

Please no Mata/Lingard. Hope to see Amad and Elanga start.

    Henderson

    AwB Bailly Maguire Shaw

    VdB Matic

    Elanga Lingard Amad

    Martial

There is no reason to rest anyone that feels any kind of fatigue for this. I'd love to see a game from Amad and Elanga here

We have five subs in European football, so I expect only a semi-rotated side. It will be a good
opportunity for players like DVB, Matic, Greenwood and others to get 90 minutes under their belt and be ready for the busy winter period. I expect most of the players who played today to play some role, but probably only 45-60 minutes.

It’s definitely not a nothing game; it’s an invaluable opportunity for the manager to experiment and further drill the players into the new style of play.

United’s youth players will be looking to secure top spot in their group in the UEFA Youth League, so you probably won’t see any of them.

Needs to play the second team as the run of fixtures are coming really quick and we need players match fit.

    Elanga - Martial
    Lingard - Greenwood
    Matic - VDB
    Telles - Baily - Lindelof - AWB
    Henderson

Will be a good chance for the squad players to show what they can do. Not sure if Shaw is fit or not, if he is he'll start here. Assuming Shaw, Martial, Lingard, Cavani and Varane won't be fit:

EDIT: forgot Jones was left out of CL squad so replaced him with Mengi

    Henderson

    AWB Bailly Mengi Fernandez

    Hannibal Matic

    Diallo ----------------VDB

    Greenwood Elanga

Bench: Heaton, Dalot, Lindelof, McTominay, Mata, Shoretire, McNeil

He also needs game time for his main players to get used to his system, particularly against a poorer team where they'll probably do well. So not an easy shout.

Not sure who is fit, but pretty much full rotation needed here given the game means nothing.

    Henderson
    Wan Bissaka Bailly Maguire Telles
    Van de Beek Matic
    Mata Lingard
    Elanga Greenwood

They just played 2 games in 3 days and there are tons of games coming. He needs more time with then in training next week than in the game.

I'm afraid ronnie may force ralf to start him knowing how obsessed he is with ucl records

I think he sees this game as a sort of a padding opportunity to catch lewa and score in all of the group stage games for the first time in our history

Its up to ralf whether he let's him indulge in this

You can’t simply not prepare for a first team game, so the training will be geared for the Young Boys game whoever he picks.

I’ve not been keeping up. Is it confirmed this is at Old Trafford yet?

    Henderson
    AWB--Bailly--Maguire--Telles
    Matic--McTominay
    VdB--Lingard
    Greenwood--Martial

Subs: Heaton, De Gea; Dalot, Lindelof; Fred, Fernandes, Mata; Amad, Elanga, Sancho, Rashford

This all depends on Lingard and Martial's fitness of course. Fred deserves a rest too. I would love Shaw to be fit for it but I know that will not happen. If Lingard isn't fit then start Amad.

Or alternatively, start Amad and put VdB deeper.
