Think it's intentional. He drops back and our fullbacks push forward, turning it into a kind of 343. Makes more sense if the third midfielder drops further back, but Bruno's pretty advanced, so it ends up with just Pogba in the middle at times.
Against a team that wants to press then sure, but wolves have nobody in our half when we have the ball! He needs to stay up and get the ball off the back 4.

More or less 50/50 possession, Fred could help pin them back a bit more.

That said the problem we’re having is lack of movement and speed of passing.
Speed of passing is down to maguire receiving the ball and scanning the pitch like a dud before eventually making his obvious pass to whoever is on the left. I just want him dropped. he never releases the ball quick enough.

    Pogba is also a passenger.

id get Mata and Martial on.

Missing Martial as a false 9. Let's us play into feet down the middle, at the moment we're trying to either cross vs 3 CBs or long balls over the top to Rashford.

How about a midfield hexagon? Bring on Fred, VdB and McT. Leave the other midfielders on

Can we get Fred and McT on?

What will that change? We’re easily getting the ball into our front 3 and Bruno but they are doing nothing both on and off the ball.

Wolves are standing off us and we have a overload on the left but we’re doing nothing with it.

I’m glad someone else can see this.
Matic is dropping car too deep at times and staying out on the left a bit too much too, making it far too congested and leaving Pogba on his own in the middle.
Fred would add some drive in midfield

Greenwood has been horrific since season. I know he's young and 2nd season syndrome n all, but it just seems like he's regressed massively.

I sometimes think I watched different match. We haven't been that bad here, I'd say we have been OK...no more than that though.

Very difficult when our forwards thrive on space and pace and find about six defenders behind the ball in the box. Wolves play is pure park the bus stuff here, and our forwards do not have the best movement to combat it,aside from Cavani.

I think Rashford is playing quite well technically, would love to see him be quicker with the shot. Midfield is an issue for us here, as I knew it would be before the match. Both Matic and Pogba are offering little, they are not awful tonight but lacking in urgency and frequently dispossessed.

Wolves are a pain in the arse. I hate to play them. We have to do better in second half. Martial can come handy, will be more explosive then Greenwood I think.
    Come on lads !

I’m not saying he’s the issue, but wolves are camped in their half he doesn’t need to be standing in telles position for him to advance up the pitch. Get yourself in a good position to receive the ball higher up.

it’s counter productive to make a back 3 when they haven’t even got anybody in our half!
He doesn't do that because he needs to be in a position to react to Wolves turning the ball.

We need to earn a penalty - it’s long overdue. Quite a few matches without a penalty already

We're doing ok, just need to focus more in the final third, we're always very close but it's either a lazy ball or good defending that prevents us from creating a chance.

We kept Wolves quiet for long periods of the game. They'll tire.

Feel for Rashford tonight, he’s trying but unusually he seems to be channelling Lukaku, first touch keeps letting him down.

Looks like we don’t have a real plan and we transport the ball a little slow today. I’m also afraid that sooner or later they will find their way with a good run and pass in to that giant empty space behind our back line. So far their attack feels harmless however.

Yes, well, they still look a bit knackered. What is the solution?
It’s not tiredness, it’s making 100 or so passes across our back line very slowly which allows Wolves to just get in position every time. If we don’t speed up or passing we’ll lose this one and deserve to.

Jeez. What game are you watching? He’s been very safe. He also cleverly stopped Adama getting a run on him. No defender in the world would catch him
He's given 2 free kicks near our box because he's so much of a donkey he was forced to foul them. One of those free kicks was nearly a goal.

    Donkey.

Wan Bissaka reminds me of Valencia in his later years. Both lack confidence to take on players and seem to always go for the cut back. That means we are forced to attack through the other channel with Telles and Rashford. We lack flexibility to switch our attacks across both flanks
The resemblance has been uncanny for a while now, even down to their incredible ability to not be in the right place defensively.

They've taken Stoke's position in some respects. Love them when they're playing your rivals but absolutely detest them when its your team up against them.

We had to show more energy here as we did vs Leeds but have looked flat and out of ideas. Still far from being convinced Ole will ever have us challenging.

We have to pray these get tired given we’ve had an extra days rest.
