Think this could genuinely be tougher than our game at Leicester. West Ham will be up for this, are on great form and there is now a blueprint for clubs to play against us - press high whilst keeping a deep defensive line in order to stop counters.

West Ham don't need to win this, so can set up to frustrate us, knowing that they'll definitely get chances to score if they keep it tight. Playing Brendan Rodgers' Leicester in a game they have to win, they will definitely leave space for our attackers to exploit. Evans and Morgan having to deal with Triple M is a mouth-watering prospect.

Lindelof will be a worry again, Antonio will bully him. West Ham will also just pump it forward at every chance and could catch our fullbacks and cb's out and flat footed, especially when the fullbacks have bombed forward.

Aerial bombarding coming up with a double decker bus. Shaw has to play and AWB has to get his form back to cut the crosses from the bylines.

Matic and Pogba has to play to handle the aerial threat in set pieces. We got to score early or it could turn out very nervy.

    Easy tactic for Moyes.
    Cross the ball, target Lindelof.
Do 81 crosses if they must.

This should be Ole's pre match pep talk. 6-0.

Yes. Play the title winning video, Scholes retiring, Fergie retiring. Then this witch called Moyes came into the club and signed Fellaini whilst telling Vidic & Ferdinand to play like Jagielka.

I think Shaw will be rested for the Leicester game. No real need to risk further injuring him when the West Ham result would be pretty much irrelevant as long as we win that game.

5-0 would be a good result to have that bit of goal difference cushion for the Leicester game but may as well make it 7-0 just in case.

Moyes can celebrate on the OT touchline when West Ham win the coin toss.

Not saying we should aim for it, but 2 draws and we're in, right?

Not a bad place to be in considering where we were before now. It at least gives the psychological boost that you don't need to take big risks to try and force the issue.

Not loving the matchup of Antonio's pace and power vs any of our CBs to be honest, we need to guard against the counter as much as possible
It is a worry, but if we can limit them to long balls into him then I think Maguire will deal with him quite comfortably. Harry is quite good at cutting out attacks before they even materialise, he will struggle big time if he allows Antonio to turn and run at him though.

Both centre backs will need to cover each other far better than they have done recently. And actually close advancing players down rather than allow them pot shots at DDG, who as we know is struggling to deal with them currently.

Antonio will play like prime Drogba.

I am worried de Gea will be targeted at set pieces.

Tough, tough game. I think they will lose to Leicester so a win is integral.

As I mentioned in a post above, anything less than a 3 goal victory tomorrow is the same as a draw. Because it will leave us needing to avoid defeat on the final day. Any kind of defeat on Sunday will see Leicester overtake us. So even though its not gonna be easy, we really need to be up for the game tomorrow and try to score as many as possible. If we ever needed an early goal, it'll be tomorrow.
If United win 5:3 against West Ham, lose 1:0 to Leicester and Chelsea take at least three points from their final two matches, there will be a playoff to decide fourth spot.

Man United and Leicester will be tied on points, goal difference, goals scored and conceded.

I thought they did away with that. If all those things are equal, it comes down to head to head instead of a play off right?

This. I agree, there's no pressure on them, they can press as high as they like and take risks. If we are not on our a-game we will get caught out.

Plus I'm sure there's an element of Moyes wanting to beat us. I fear we will drop points here and leave massive pressure on getting a result in the last game. I feckin' hope I'm wrong though.

As long as we dont lose we have to draw Leicester nomatter, so dropping 2 points is ok.

Play off is still there, they just added H2H before it. We'd be level on H2H too with both games ending 1-0.

Are you really surprised? Redcafe's average football knowledge stems about as far as Fifa 20.

All these people saying we will win by 5-6 goals are just deluded. This won't be easy just like the Southampton match. They have zero pressure, they always "play up" to to the bigger teams and Moyes will want to come and ruin the party.

I'll be happy if we win by 2 clear goals to be honest.
I'd be delighted with any win but it's still fun to speculate (and expose people's complete lack of maths prowess in the process).

    Am I right in thinking,

    Manchester United wins: 59
    West Ham wins: 40
    Draws: 28

    Is a poor record?
At least it's not a record that Westham haven't beat us in 23 years or 25962 minutes or some shit like that. It seems like anytime there is a record to be broken against us since SAF retired it happens.

Well, West Ham haven't beaten us at Old Trafford since 2007. So there's that...

There's been enough shit written about this team the last few days that Ole will hardly need a team talk

if the players aren't fired up to shut up our critics then they are lacking in the mentality to be a consistently good team.

Its a pitiful West Ham under Moyes. We should be tearing them to pieces.

    United 3 or 4 nil

The only reassuring thing is that now we know we don't give up even if we concede first.

I want us to win this game and go into the Leicester game needing only a draw. A big 4-0 here will be a big bonus!

My best case scenario is that United qualifies and Chelsea fall out of the top 4. It's possible they drop points in both games! A few possibilities for that to happen - so fingers crossed.

And completely isolate their midfield in the process?

We'd destroy them if they using any close to that strategy :)

Err. The difference was you inherited a squad that had won the PL title, you didn't make a single good signing and even with the addition of a couple of players in Fellaini and Mata you made us so god awful to watch. Then you did the same at subsequent clubs.

Sorry Moyesie but you were so palbably out of your depth, it was depressing...like watching a wounded animal slowly and painfully dying while all you could do was watch
Don't forget record no. of crosses, oh the horror.

Moyes is gonna have his team setup like it's the biggest game of their lives, he'd love to potentially end our top 4 run.
I too have the same feeling. Nothing will satisfy him more than us losing top 4.

This will be a massive test on how this squads mentality is, if they can't get up for this game and do the job it is very worrying, they are all technically good enough to win the game by a landslide, however will they have the mental strength and fight to see it through, we shall see, however i can't lie in saying i am worried about this.

Yeah and then we go into another full season without a proper break where the scousers have had 5 weeks off and you lot will be losing your minds when we are 30pts behind again.

If we finish top 4.....the Europa League just becomes a distraction for me and needless risk. Our lads will benefit more from a break before another gruelling season. Plays the ressies.
While I think we have a good team I really don’t think we will be winning the title next season anyway so for me it’s more important that we put a trophy on the board. It’s literally only 3 extra games for us to get another major trophy. I think these players need to prove that they have what it takes to get over the line.

×100 this. Davie will want to prove a point alright. Hope we play them off the park tomorrow.

I kind of worry that we're going to go into this thinking maybe we can blitz them and get the job all but done on goal difference and have it backfire on us.

I'd rest Bruno and play Pogba as a #10 with Fred and McTominay behind him. That duo was great before the break.

I think I actually agree. The guy has played an immense amount of matches, and his performances have clearly dropped. Better to get a good Leicester game out of him than trying to get two okay ones.

Just sub him on if we get a penalty obviously
