West Ham United Football Club (nicknamed The Irons, The Hammers, and The Academy of Football) are a professional football club based in Upton Park, East London; and were founded in 1895 by foreman and local league referee Dave Taylor and owner Arnold Hills as Thames Ironworks - a strictly amateur football club. They turned professional in 1898 upon entering the Southern League Second Division, and were promoted to the First Division at the first attempt. Following growing disputes over the running and financing of the club in June 1900 Thames Ironworks F.C. was disbanded, then almost immediately relaunched on 5 July 1900 as West Ham United F.C.

West Ham's most successful period started with the appointment of Ron Greenwood in 1961, leading to FA Cup, League Cup and Cup Winners' Cup titles - with youth team graduates Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters at the forefront. Their nickname 'The Academy of Football' pays homage to the success of the club in coaching future greats - which includes that trio of World Cup winners, Trevor Brooking, Paul Ince, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard and Michael Carrick. West Ham's most prominent rivalries involve local clubs Millwall, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur; and they have been playing their home games at The Boleyn Ground (often referred to as Upton Park) since 1904, with a plan to move into the Olympic Stadium by the start of the 2016/ 2017 League season.

    Team should be...

    -------------De Gea-------------
    Valencia--Jones--Rojo--Shaw
    -------Herrera----Pogba-------
    Mata-------Rooney-------Mkhitaryan
    -------------Zlatan-------------

Subs: Romero, Blind, Carrick, Fellaini, Lingard, Martial, Rashford

    De Gea
    Valencia Jones Rojo Darmian
    Herrera Pogba
    ??? Mata ???
    Ibrahimovic
No idea who should be the other two in the front four. Mkhitaryan, Rooney and Lingard played well today so maybe two of them if they're fit enough.

Not sure if Carrick will play for this, and I'm not sure if I want him to. Maybe Mourinho's saving him for the cup game against this lot?

Anyway, I really hope Mkhitaryan starts. Let him build on that performance today!

I'd try the same team, possibly Herrera in for one of the attackers. Oh and DDG.

We will play well - we have been playing well for the last 6-7 games, in general.
The questions is, can we finish our chances, will the refs stay unbiased, and can we not be unlucky for a change?

I expect Mkhi to start this game. He deserves to.

This'll be harder than tonight, I think we'll drop more points. Doubt Carrick will play albeit we're so much better when he does

    For me:

    DDG

    Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Shaw

    Herrera, Carrick, Pogba

    Mata, Ibra, Mickey

Would be the way to go. On current form I'd actually have Rooney in ahead of Ibra, but it seems like there's no way he doesn't start if he's fit.

Exactly this team. I'd agree with what you said about Rooney ahead of Ibra as well. Sadly I don't think Mhki will start and I think Ibra will be starting up front.

Would be nice to see Mkhitaryan build from the Feyenoord match and light it up again against West Ham. Especially since Rashford has been struggling lately.

    De Gea
    Valencia Jones Blind Shaw
    Herrera
    Mata Pogba
    Rashford Ibrahimovic Rooney
Don't think Mourinho will see Mkhi as quite ready for a PL start yet, unfortunately. Hopefully he can come on and at least get half an hour.

    De Gea
    Valencia--Jones--Rojo--Shaw
    Herrera--Pogba
    Mata--Rooney--Mkhitaryan
    Ibrahimovic

subs: Romero, Blind, Carrick, Fellaini, Lingard, Martial, Rashford

I think Blind and Lingard/Rashford will start ahead of Shaw + Mkhitaryan though.

Some nice looking teams here. I like the look of Carrick behind Herrera and Pogba in a midfield three and I'd like Mata involved. Elsewhere I'd have two of Martial, Rooney and Ibrahimovic. I think Rashford should come off the bench on 60/70 minutes and give that back four (that'll be missing Winston Reid) utter hell when they're tiring.

    De Gea
    Valencia Jones Blind Shaw
    Herrera
    Mata Pogba
    Rashford Ibrahimovic Rooney

Why Rashford? He has been poor lately.

    De Gea
    Valencia Jones Rojo Blind
    Herrera
    Mata Pogba
    Mkhitaryan Ibrahmovic Rooney
Mata, miki and rooney to all interchange during the game. Not sure which 2 of rojo/blind/shaw will play, Rojo has done well IMO so might as well stay, while at left back having Blinds on the ball composure might be better? Not sure really. Either way its meh. Carrick rested as he played today and last sunday. 3 in a row a bit too much for him. Plus I really want to see the front 5 again, which means only one of herrera or carrick.

    Dave
    Valencia - Jones - Rojo - Blind
    Herrera - Pogba
    Mata - Rooney - Mkhi
    Zlatan

That's what I think we will pick, possibly Jesse in for Mkhi not that I'd do that though.

    DDG

    Valencia Jones Rojo Shaw

    Herrera Pogba

    Mata Rooney Lingard

    Ibrahimovic

This is what I expect, although obviously I'd rather Carrick was in a midfield 3 and Rooney on the bench. Mkhitariyan to come off the bench.

Carrick has to start for me. It looks like it's starting to come together now and he's been at the centre of it all. Let's not rock the boat by messing with a formula that appears to be working. Lineup should be the same as tonight but with De Gea in and Herrera for Rooney and Pogba at #10.

Pogba at 10 doesn't work. How many games have you watched us play this season?

Can a 35 year old handle 3 games in the space of a week though?

    Valencia-Jones-Blind-Shaw-

    ------------Carrick----------

    ------Pogba-----Herrera----

    --Rooney---Zlatan---Mata--

Watch these cnuts turn in their annual worldie game raising performance against us now after collapsing against Spurs.

Mourinho made few changes yesterday but he shouldn't have played Carrick. He should have been rested for West Ham.

Ibra was poor ans sloppy also.

Another question. Do you think Fellaini will play in midfield to counter West Ham big guys? (Antonio, Kouyaté, Reid, Ogbonna...)

Mkhitaryan was top yesterday and deserve to play on the wing over Martial / Lingard / Rashford

With his performance, Rooney will probably play, which mean that we'll probably play 4-2-3-1 again, and we'll be probably suffering on counter attack.

    -------------------------------------De Gea------------------------------------
    Valencia---------------------Jones-----------Rojo-----------------------Shaw
    ------------------------------Herrera---------Pogba---------------------------
    Mata--------------------------------Rooney------------------------Mkhitaryan
    ---------------------------------------Ibra--------------------------------------

I doubt Carrick would be played for this one so Herrera comes in.

    ----------De Gea----------
    Valencia Jones-Blind-Shaw
    ----------Herrera--------
    ---Mkhitaryan-- Pogba--
    Mata--Ibrahmovic-- Rooney

Feels like we're building up a head of steam now. Please, please don't put us back to square one.

Expecting one change with Herrera in for Carrick but an otherwise unchanged lineup.

Carrick should definitely play on Sunday and then we can rest him on Wednesday giving him 7 days to recover for Everton. Second PL game in a week for me having only made it to two since 2008 before that. :D

    DDG

    Valencia
    Jones
    Rojo
    Shaw

    Carrick
    Herrera

    Mata
    Pogba
    Rooney

    Ibrahimovic

    DDG
    Valencia Jones Blind Shaw
    Herrera Pogba
    Mkhitaryan Mata Rooney
    Ibrahimovic
Given that Carrick played midweek I go with Herrera to replace him and keep the rest of the team as it was. West Ham are dire and will be parked in their own third so keep the team that produced goals and lots of pressure midweek. It's as good a league game as ever to start Mkh.

    DDG

    Valencia
    Jones
    Rojo
    Shaw

    Carrick

    Herrera
    Pogba

    Mata
    Rashford
    Mkhitaryan

Is what I'd like to see

Has Jones started 3 or 4 in a row? That must be some kind of record.

Pains me to say it but Rooney should start to keep his confidence up.

Mkhitaryan and Mata should start too.

If Mourinho had a right-footed center-back available, I'm pretty sure he would rest Jones.
