I'd say a different style of player, more than an upgrade. Mata is not really a winger. If he plays out wide, he'll always want to come inside and play in between the lines.

I personally feel we need a direct winger - someone who will run at the opposition and take players on. Basically someone like Martial but on the right.

We'll need to play the ball quickly and accurately. Deeney is extremely difficult to handle and I fully understand why the chinese wanted to buy him for 30m pounds. He could easily trick and outmuscle guys like Bailly and Smalling.

Wasn't expecting them to play with Niang, Deeney and Zárate. They're seem a bit light in midfield, though.

Love the combination of Mata and Valencia down the right, as well as Mata and Mkhitaryan in that space in front of the striker. I think it causes a lot of problems for oppositions. Would be nice to see us come out the traps flying today instead of waiting until the second half to get going.

Pleased to see Martial start, wonder if he will still have the "play magnificent or you're dropped" ultimatum around his neck. Would much prefer if he was told "I believe in you, you are going to be given a good run of games. Don't worry about anything, go out there and shut everyone who doubts you up"
