I do hope we win, but it'll be a tough test, Tottenham are fast. I have it down as a 2-1 win for United, and that's the optimist speaking in me.

There is a dark area within my brain that sees this being a total route for Kane et al. Everytime I think we have to play them this weekend, I resemble this image:

This has draw written all over it.

    1-1(Zlatan - Fellaini OG)

Same lineup as vs. Zorya, just tweaking it a bit
    De Gea
    Valencia Bailly Rojo Blind
    Carrick
    Herrera Pogba
    Mkhitaryan Rashford Martial

    Alternatively, we can go for:

    De Gea
    Valencia Bailly Rojo Blind
    Carrick
    Herrera Pogba
    Mkhitaryan Martial Mata

    Ibra will be playing:lol:

I think this will be the starting 11 but I'm not sure about Rojo and Martial, it could be Jones and Rashford. I'd pick Blind at LB but Jose seems to prefer Darmian.

Following the pattern, it's hard to be optimistic :( Midweek win, so we'll either lose this or get a crap draw.

We've only lost 2 games in our last 17 games. We're due a loss

    DDG
    Valencia Bailly Jones Blind
    Carrick Pogba
    Mkhytaryan Rooney Martial
    Ibra

Assuming Mata is injured. So come on United!!

Doubt United will lose. Just can't see it being anything other than a score draw.

    1-1 again

The team will be tired for sure as after every european game

    -----------------------------------De Gea---------------------------------
    Valencia-------------------Jones----------Bailly---------------------Rojo
    -----------------------------------Carrick---------------------------------
    Mkhitaryan----------------Herrera-------Pogba--------------------Martial
    ------------------------------------Ibra------------------------------------

Very important that our wingers chase their full backs and our midfielders to win their pressing

I have a feeling they'll struggle contain Zlatan arially, and Mkhitaryan might just surprise them too.

Advantage on our side is our defence very well know the attacking threat of Spurs, and I think we are better placed to handle them.

Want to see more of Mkhitaryan behind the striker but this is probably the type of game for a 3 man-midfield.
I would like this too. I would like to see him and Mata as RW and AMC switching places etc. I don't mind who plays LW. Do you think Pogba could play there, as like an inside forward so that he is close to goal and not forced to be playmaker? kind of like Iniesta.

so we're playing route one then?

Heh, doubt it. But Pogba's occassional passes over the top and the odd corner might well be too much for them. I hope, anyway.

I think they have the best defence in the league, correct me if I am wrong, and did so last season. Their league position is due to Kane being injured and a lack of replacement goals. I also believe they have a tall team when fit. Wanyama 6"2, Dembele 6"1, Aldeweireld 6"2, Vertonghen 6"2/3, Dier 6"2 Sissoko 6"2 Kane 6"2. Spurs are no mugs. For me, these are the sorts of sides Zlatan will probably struggle against the most. On paper they are better equipped than City, Liverpool and Chelsea, to deal with The Zlatan. Of the top 6, this is the lowest scorers vs the least conceders so it is a bad combination but you never know. I feel playing long balls in this game will leave us hanging. We can look to play around them with the mata's, Miki's etc as their FB's will beat us for pace too.

After the Everton draw I felt despair. A loss here and oh boy, I will start believing we are not coming back from this and catching the pace setters, irrespective as to how many games we have left.
I'm with you there pal, a loss shows we can't sit at the big boy table this year. We need to be playing good football again, not the tumescent mess we played in our last two.

We should try to decide the game in the first 60 min. After that it will get increasingly difficult as they will be the fresher team. They played earlier their European game and didn't travel.

My guess is that Carrick and Martial will replace Mata and Rooney from the line-up vs Zorya.

    That's a pretty good guess I'd say.

Spurs' league position doesn't represent how good they are. They'll only get better in the second half of the season too. United 1-3 Spurs

Like Michael Owen always says ...if we score more them we will win, but if I have to make a prediction, it might be a win for United or a draw or a loss.

    Interesting.
2 things. Wednesday-Saturday is the exact same in some weeks. I appreciate the occasional Tuesday-Saturday can be beneficial.
Secondly, I doubt anyone here expects a 35 year old to play every single match, 90 mins per game. He should ask the manager for a rest. Man Utd have won matches before Zlatan joined the club and we will continue to win matches when he retires. Either one of Martial-Rooney-Rashford have scored goals in the past so I don't see why it is sooo absurd that they play in Europa games, as clearly they can score goals. I thought the whole point in having a 35 year old striker was so that it wouldn't suffocate the development of our young strikers. Its been the complete opposite.
I've seen managers use kids in Champions League games before. Our striker rotation is awful. I feel sorry for Zlatan a bit. He is gonna get a hernia by the end of the season.

    Agreed.

Say this every game at the moment, but this is a big'n. Win this and we're back within a shout of a european slot pretty easily and not relying on others slipping up down the road.

He's 35 playing up front and we have no winter break and a busy schedule in a more intense league than he's used to, I'm sure him needing a rest every now and then can come as a surprise to no one, Jose should be prepared for this. I hope to see Martial get another chance.
