Woke up to the bad news that the lad I was supposed to go with today has had someone crash into his car over night, meaning he can't make it up today. He's gutted.

However, this means I'm going to go with my girlfriend. She's been to two United games before. 7-1 vs Blackburn when Berbatov scored 5 and 2-0 against Arsenal in the FA Cup when Fabio and Rafael played on the wings and we still battered them.

I'm sure this is a good omen. We're going to score 4+ goals today, so if you want to put money on it, I'll take a 3% cut later.
The stars have aligned, Darmian hattrick.

I think Shane Long will be the biggest threat to us in this match. He'll look to make runs behind Blind. Hopefully we starve them of possession.

Was she your Girlfriend when you went for those matches too ;) ? Coz that was an awfully long time ago.

Those few wins should inspire some confidence. Perhaps enough to actually play some football whilst getting said win. Let's see a 4-0 just for funsies.

I've gone with De Gea, Bortwick-Jackson, Blind, Smalling, Darmian, Fellaini, Schneiderlin, Mata, Herrera, Martial and Rooney.

Wasn't sure whether to go with Lingard or Mata, but given the former's shit display against Liverpool, I don't think Van Gaal would start him today. Memphis starting seems out of the question as well.

Going to be difficult today....Loved the result last week, but didn't see anything to make me think we're getting better or more consistant other than consistantly inconsistant....Going for 1 - 1 but hope I'm wrong....

It'll be interesting to see how Charlie Austin does....I'm absolutely convinced that he'll will turn out to be the bargain of the season at £4 million - I was banging away on the newbies forum that he was a good punt at even £10 million....At £4 million, is an absolute steal for an off-the-bench, Hernandezesque squad player....

why does fellaini keep starting? feck off

I had Memphis for Fellaini, but other than that our side is easy to guess. Just hope Saints can't figure us out so easily.

    Did well last time tbh.
I don't think so. He is played in CM, yet he is constantly further forward than our our attacking midfielder, which just leaves our midfield wide open. He annoys the feck out of me.

We've no other option. Herrera also drifts from his position in CM too. Injuries to Carrick and BFG have fecked us.

I'd sooner Herrera play there if I'm honest. I think he has been pretty disciplined when done so in the past.

    UNITED XI
United team to face Southampton: De Gea, Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Borthwick-Jackson, Schneiderlin, Fellaini, Lingard, Herrera, Martial, Rooney. Subs: Romero, McNair, Varela, Pereira, Januzaj, Mata, Memphis.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson replaces the injured Ashley Young, in the only change from the side that beat Liverpool.

    From United blog.

Does van Gaal think the last 2 performances were good or something? Put Memphis and/or Mata in for Lingard and fellaini and we'll play better. Going to be a frustrating game as it is I think, but hopefully we get an early 46th minute goal to make it a more comfortable second half.

I hope our players have actually been training on certain tactics, instead of just philosophising in the sun like always.

#mufc XI: DDG, Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Borthwick-Jackson, Schneiderlin, Fellaini Lingard, Herrera, Martial Rooney
The qualities of this team does not suggest possession based football. Only Blind and Herrera are good enough at keeping possession, and they're not really that good at it either.
