Difficult to say, it's been quite scrappy. Mata is poor though. He almost shipped a goal in the first half. A better team would have scored from his mistake. He leaves space wide open, doesn't close players down and chase them, not physical or industrial enough. Pogba has been like a Rolls Royce he has looked quality. Bailley has looked absolute class. MotM? Probably Zlatan for his goals because no one else has really done much. As much as Pogba and Bailly have looked class it's not MotM type stuff. So Zlatan by default. But Mata...no.

Bailly was a bit meh today no?

Mkhi looking great. He'll force the manager to put him in the starter line-up sooner or later with his performances.

Mkhitarian looked good. Needs to start now. Would prefer it in a home game to boost his confidence.

    Zlatan looks exhausted.

    Fantastic start to the season!

Rashfords lack of playing time will be Joses first test.

He'll be first choice for the league cup and EL.

August was always going to be a tough month for the squad. Get September here and the matches will come thick and fast and our lad Rashford will get plenty of game time.

It feels to me that Southampton are playing like we used to, under LVG.
They are getting possession in the final third, but once they arrive in the final third, they start passing the ball too much. And their possession comes to nothing.
Unless you are incredibely well coached and enjoy some tactical longevity like Arsenal or Dortmund or have players of the calibre of Messi or Zlatan :wenger:, that's a problem every single team has against teams that sit behind in numbers.

Jizz worthy performance. Had my cock in my hand the whole second half.

Mikhitaryan just loves to nutmeg everyone  The skill on that man is amazing.

As if it wasnt great enough having Pogba, Martial and Ibra running rampant...I cant wait till we throw Mikhi into the mix. For the first time in a long time, I actually have hope. That was a dominant performance and the saints basically shat themselves as the game progressed. Bring back that fear factor!

Fair enough. Personally thought Mata was excellent in possession, and linked up very well with our other forwards - we'll have to agree to disagree. :)

Our fullbacks were also awesome though - it's great to see Valencia beating players again.

depends if thats the tactic or not. Might be that we are doing it on purpose

Guess it has to be. Jose likes his teams to be very narrow, thus allowing the opposition to get into good wide positions. However, because we have so many players in the box, we are able to defend the crosses quite easily, as we saw tonight. Leicester did it very well last season. Very rarely did the two centre backs come outside the box.

We were good. Already a big difference compared to LVG tenure. And it's just a 2nd game.

Pogba was great, as was Ibra.

    Special mention to Fellaini.

Mickhi should definitely start next game. In that short period he played he looked immense.

I'd agree with that Valencia looking better than ever.

Forgive me for sayin we need a right back. Valencia has been brilliant

Standard 2-0 win really. Haven't had one of these in a long time. Pogba, Ibra a class apart. Mkhitaryan will very soon get in the starting 11, the quality is obvious right when he comes on. As good as Mata is... Mkhitaryan is brilliant.

fecking hilarious interview between Ibra and Pogba there

HM looks scintillating in his little cameo. "Problem" is Matta is playing well and Rooney just ain't getting dropped. I think he's the better player in both cases , just a weird scenario we have

Also Valencia is a man reborn so far. Don't know why he stopped crossing after the first half though.
