I would start with 2 of the youngsters (Greenwood and either Chong or Gomes) - the rest should be first-team players. And have 2-3 more youngsters on the bench. And by first-team players I mean those who didnt start yesterday

Used to live near basingstoke and played with reading for a year, when Jamie Cureton was the hero. Cureton still playing ball at bishops stortford, has 900 games in english football and 300 goals.

will always have a soft spot for them.

Hope we play a reasonably rotated team here, with some exciting players. Very unfortunate that Chong is injured.

    Romero

    Dalot
    Jones
    Lindelof
    Shaw

    Fellaini
    Fred
    Pereira

    Sanchez
    Greenwood
    Gomez

    Romero
    Dalot Jones Lindelof Young
    Fred Fellaini
    Pereira
    Chong Lukaku Sanchez
Greenwood to come on for Lukaku
Gomes to come on for Pereira

Rom and Sanchez need minutes to be ready for the rest of the season.

Matic and Herrera needs to be rested, and he hasn't played much.

We have Fred and Andreas, why anyone would actually want Fellaini anywhere near this team anymore is beyond me. He’s a walking embodiment of our problems since SAF.

He was with the squad last night?

Not really sure about the bold part but he isn't suited to a team doing quick passing

    Romero

    Dalot
    Smalling
    Lindelof
    Shaw

    Pereira
    Fred

    Gomes

    Rashford
    Greenwood
    Sanchez

Maybe a little bit too much to start two of the youth players, but I absolutely think Greenwood should start, he's earned it. There won't be a better opportunity to give Gomes a proper run-out for a while also.

Kidding myself with that bench, but it would be nice to see a few of the lads get a chance before they go out on loan

I literally just want to see Greenwood play. It'd be fantastic.

My starting XI in any case:

    Romero

    Darmian
    Rojo
    Smalling
    Young

    Fred
    Pereira
    Fellaini

    Sanchez
Greenwood (sort of expect Lukaku to start though)
    Lingard

I fully understand that this is such a dodgy team, but Ole clearly stated that everyone will get a chance. In some cases we just need to give these players enough rope to hang themselves with, A token opportunity before they depart, a chance to put them in the shop window, whatever way you want to look at it.

    Still expect us to win.

Romero has been a very good backup for us, since he’s signed.

Had to sign in just to mention how ridiculous this suggestion is.

What do you base this opinion on? Not his performances for United, as he's been pretty much excellent for us, every time he's been called upon...

I don't believe that. He distribution is erratic and he has concentration issues. He already cost us in the Carbao cup earlier in the season. There is a reason this guy was a backup at low-tier clubs before he became a back-up here. He is not very good.

FA cup presents us with a chance to win a trophy this season, and I hope that Ole goes with our best keeper for the fixture.

Some rotation and still a strong team, I anticipate Sanchez to join the goals

The manager cost us Carabao cup, not him. We were shite all game and deserved to lose. He is as good backup as you can get and surely deserves to get a few cup games against weaker opponents.

I would still play De Gea. Our defense still has issues and I rather have De Gea behind them then Romero in what is an important game irrespective of the quality of the opposition.

    Nailed on starters IMO are:

    Romero
    Darmian
    Fred
    Pereira
    Sanchez
    Lukaku

The other five places are somewhat up for grabs. I think if Dalot is fit, he starts. If Rojo is fit, he also starts, probably Fellaini too. One of Jones or Lindelof (or both) could be forced to start, unless Rojo is fit and Ole trusts a youth player or plays Darmian at CB.

The right side of the attack could be anyone from Mata, Lingard, Chong, Gomes or Greenwood. I'd prefer it wasn't Lingard as I'd rather he was rested for Tottenham away.

I don't know if Dalot would be trusted enough at Left Back but Valencia could be used again while we're short on fit defenders, but these back lines are possible IMO:

    Valencia Darmian Rojo Dalot

    Dalot/Valencia Jones Rojo Darmian

    Dalot/Valencia Lindelof Jones Darmian

Young could also be deployed after being left out of the Newcastle game, but currently he'd be my first choice at RB for Spurs so I'd rather he was rested as well.

There is usually three midfielders unno, and one of them plays in defensive midfield.
We don't need three midfielders at home to Reading. Can play either Lingard/Mata or even Gomez in the number 10.

    Team should be...

    ---------------Romero---------------
    Valencia--Darmian--Jones--Young
    ----------Fred-------Fellaini----------
    Mata---------Andreas---------Sanchez
    ---------------Lukaku---------------

Subs: Grant, McTominay, Gomes, Chong, Lingard, Martial, Greenwood

Defence looks shit (assume Dalot is injured) but we need to keep Lindelöf fit
I think Darmian is better than many people here give him credit for (said same thing about Lindelof ages ago)

Can't see anything but an easy win for us. To create an upset, the underdogs have to be a vaguely good team or on a good run and Reading are neither. Not even sure they will field a first XI - surprised this is even being televised (maybe it was picked before Jose left, and BT felt there would be a chance to laugh/gloat

Still people putting Valencia and Mata on the right hand side after slating it all through last night? :wenger:

Yes we’ll struggle to contain the mighty Reading with two midfielders.
It is not ideal when neither of those two midfielders have any sort of defensive nous. We shouldn't just ignore the defensive side of the game because we are playing a championship club.

I'm surprised how bad Reading are.

For ages they've been one of those yo-yo clubs who get promoted (frankly offer nothing) then get relegated but now they are 2nd bottom of the Championship, look an absolute basket case.

A dull draw when it came out, but now could be quite interesting to get Lukaku and Sanchez first starts after a while out.

Great chance for plenty of rotation, although with 8 days to the next game, plenty of recovery ahead.

Sanchez and Lukaku to start with probably Lingard as the front 3.

It’s about time to give Pogba and Matic a rest so let Fred and Pereira get some minutes in the midfield.

Not sure who’s available at centre back but Young’s rested now so could give Shaw a break and play Dalot or Darmian on the right.

    Romero in net.

I think we should play Valencia in this. I don't want to see him in another first team game, and Young could do with a nice rest before Spurs
He didn’t feature against Newcastle and playing him left back would give Shaw a rest. Either way there’s 8 days until Spurs afterwards.

I didn't think of the maths here - good point We can play him and still afford rest for both

    Romero
    Dalot - Darmian - Jones - Young
    Fred - Pereira - Gomes
    Mata - Lukaku - Sanchez

Subs: Grant, McTominay, Chong, Greenwood, Fellani, Williams, Valencia

Start with a strong team, then bring youngsters on after game is won. No reason to let this one slip. It'd be beautiful of Ole could win the FA Cup.

Sir Alex used to give start to youngsters in FA Cup. Thats how these early rounds should be used. For last few season we did not saw that. Now with Ole incharge, I will like to see some youngster in starting XI.

    Romero/Grant
    Dalot(if fit)/O'Cornor RSWilliams Darmian Young
    Fred Periera Fellaini
    Chong Lukaku Sanchez

Atleast 3 of 4G's (Gomes, Greenwood, Gribbin, Garner) should be in subs
