Athletic Club Omonia Nicosia, commonly known as Omonia Nicosia or Omonia (Harmony) and nicknamed Η Βασίλισσα (The Queen), is a Cypriot professional multi-sport club, established on 4 June 1948 in Nicosia. On 23 May 1948, the governing board of APOEL football club sent a telegram to the Hellenic Association of Amateur Athletics (Σ.Ε.Γ.Α.Σ.), stating its wish for what it described as the "communist mutiny" to be ended. Club players considering this action as a specifically political comment on the Greek Civil War distanced themselves from the board and were duly expelled from APOEL. On 4 June 1948, Dr. Mattheos Papapetrou organized a meeting in Nicosia that led to the creation of Omonia. Many players expelled from APOEL were present at the meeting and joined the new club. Along with other left-wing teams such as Nea Salamina, Alki Larnaca and Orfeas Nicosia, Omonia helped create the Cyprus Amateur Football Federation in December 1948. Omonia took part in the CAFF league until 1953, having won four out of five played championships and five out of five played cups. Omonia was then accepted by the Cyprus Football Association to participate in the Cypriot First Division.

After joining the Cypriot First Division, Omonia only placed seventh out of nine teams in the 1953–54 season, barely avoiding relegation. During that decade, the club's best placing came during the 1956–57 season when the club finished in the third position. The team would make its closest push for the title during the 1959–60 season after finishing second. The following year, after seven seasons in the First Division, the club would win its first title in 1960–61 season. Omonia won seven league titles in the 1970s, six of them were consecutive (1974–1979). At the end of the decade, Omonia had a total of nine championship titles and three cups. The 1980s was also a successful decade for the club as it won an additional seven Cypriot League Championship titles including another five consecutive in 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, and in 1987 and in 1989. Altogether Omonia has won 21 National Championships, 15 cups, and a record of 17 super cups, and is one of three Cypriot clubs to never have been relegated to the second division. The club plays its homes games at Gymnastic Club "The Pancyprians" Stadium (GSP Stadium).

    Team should be....

    -----------------De Gea-----------------
    Dalot--Lindelof--Martinez--Shaw
    ----McTominay----Fred----
    Antony---Fernandes---Sancho
    ----------------Ronaldo----------------

Subs: Heaton, Varane, Malacia, Casemiro, Eriksen, Rashford, Elanga, Garnacho, Pallestri

Expecting very close to the same XI as against Everton, with Ronaldo from the off. Wouldn't mind Eriksen being rested for McTominay to start even if it would feel a bit negative against Omonia at home. However, since Scotty is banned from the Newcastle game it would make sense for him to play. I still want Casemiro to start regardless as he was starting to show what he can do against Everton. Gave the ball away a lot, but he is getting used to the tempo and his teammates for sure. Just needs to keep playing.

Sub on Varane, Fred, and Sancho for sure. Maybe get another look at Iqbal/Garnacho or use Van de Beek, Wan-Bissaka to increase their match sharpness if they're actually going to be big parts of the squad this season.

Varane to come back in against Newcastle if he can get through half an hour unscathed here.

    de Gea
    Dalot Lindelof Martinez Shaw
    McTominay Casemiro
    Antony Bruno Rashford
    Ronaldo
    -------
Varane, Fred, Sancho, Van de Beek, Garnacho

Don't care much but just beat them. We've got Newcastle on Sunday which will be much more difficult so rest many of those who started today.

    Rest key players.

    Sancho, Garnacho and Ronaldo.
    McT, Fred and Zidane
    Malacia, Varane, Lindelof and AWB

    DDG

    AWB
    Lindelof
    Martinez
    Malacia

    Fred
    McTominay
    Bruno

    Antony
    Ronaldo
    Sancho

Midfield is weak and wingbacks are vulnerable, but if there's a game to rest and get game time into legs it's surely this.

Oh great, more Europa League. Crush them in the first half and chill the second.

    3:0.

I hope we rotate a bit for this one. I would start:
    DDG
    Dalot-VNL-Martinez-Malacia
    --------------Mct-Fred---------------
    Pellistri-----Bruno----Sancho
    ---------------Ronaldo--------------
Eriksen needs a rest, Sancho needs to get his act together and I would like to see Pellistri start this.
I would play AWB if available as Dalot is suspended for Newcastle but I'm not sure what his status is.
We will probably see a similar side to the one we saw today...

Is he? I thought it was McTominay, Dalot wasn’t booked tonight

Maybe it is not the time to rotate we need the team to gel.

It seems the following positions are not completely fixed yet in Ten Hag’s mind: left back, defensive mid and left attack

Time to start Malacia on the right, Fred instead of Eriksen, play Sancho back to form.

I might be imagining it then
He does need a rest, his performances have dropped after an excellent start to the season. It's a demanding position too...I know ETH doesn't fancy AWB but he will need to use him at some point.

Both were a yellow away from a ban, but McTominay got a booking straight after he came on and Dalot didn’t get booked (wouldn’t be the first time I missed a booking, admittedly)

    Casemiro needs game time.

Scott is banned the next league game.

    Reserve goalie.
Aaron Lindelof Jones Malacia/Shaw each half
    Fred Casemiro Scott
    Elanga Ronaldo Sancho

Second half introduce Antony and Marcus if needed.

You probably should research our squad before picking players that are either injured or not selected in the European squad

What's the situation with AWB? Dalot needs a rest. We could do with resting loads of them.

    ------------------------------Dubravka
    AWB----------Lindelof------------Maguire (if fit)-----Malacia
    --------------------Casemiro----------Fred
    Elanga----------------------Sancho--------------------Garnacho
    --------------------------------Ronaldo

we should give Eriksen a rest, his performance has fallen off in last couple of games.

We shouldn't rush Varane in either, let him play against Newcastle.

    time for McFred midfield regen!

give Pellistri and Garnacho minutes too

    De Gea
    AWB Lindelof Martinez Shaw
    Fred Casemiro
    Sancho Bruno Garnacho
    Ronaldo

Dalot and Eriksen need rest. Casemiro, Shaw and Ronaldo need game time. Sub Martinez for Varane at half time. Sub Garnacho for Rashford if needed.

I'd rather Pellistri or Garnacho start ahead of Elanga but he will probably get a game here. Try Malacia at RB

They are weak. Hopefully with few changes we will be able to win confortably and rest some before a tough game against Newcastle.

    ---------------------------------------------------De Gea----------------------------------------------------
    Wan Bissaka--------------------Lindelof--------Martinez---------------------------Malacia

    Elanga

    Sancho

Bring Ronaldo on but for the most save the likes of him, Casemiro, Varane and Antony for Newcastle.

They are really poor. We should beat them comfortably at home.
I know it won't happen, but would have been interesting to see the attacking 4 of Elanga, Garnacho, Sancho and Ronaldo. There is really no need to play Bruno and Eriksen.

If we can show up cold as ice and hammer them 5 or 6 nil, it would put our goal difference above Real Sociedad, still allowing a goal for them against Sherriff and then just waiting to see what happens in the final game.

    ————————Dubravska—————

    -AwB——Maguire—-Martinez—Shaw

    ——————-McTom—-Z.Iqbal————-

    ————————-Eriksen———————

    —-Antony——-Ronaldo——-Sancho—

Subs: bring in Garnacho for Antony and Rashford for Sancho
    4-0 Ronaldo (3 goals), Antony

Really need to rotate some here now that we are going constant games, though it's clear Ten Hag isn't big on rotation.

    Dubravka/Heaton
    Wan Bissaka Lindelof Martinez Malacia
    Mctominay Fred
    Pellistri Sancho Garnacho
    Elanga

We need to give a few players a rest, but equally, I think a handsome win would be a shot in the arm in the middle of a tough run, no matter how weak the opposition. I'd give Eriksen, Dalot, Varane and Rashford the night off, and let the others fill their boots.

Can't it being quite so rotational.

    DDG
    AWB Lindelof Martinez Malacia
    McTom Fred
    Sancho Bruno Elanga
    Ronaldo

Sorry everyone, I'm taking my lad to this and he's been 4 times now and never seen us win a game. In those 5 games, we've scored 1 goal, drawn 1 and lost 3. If we don't win this, then I'm never taking the jinxy little twat again.

It's a long trek into Manchester for me tomorrow, as I'm flying in from Stockholm where I'm working this week, and it's a giant ballache getting back in time. I'm having to fly into Stansted on Wednesday night, stay there overnight and then get a train back home from London just to get back in time as there are no direct flights in time for me to get home, pick up my lad and get to OT.

We'd better score a feckload of goals.

No way we'll rotate as we need to win the group really to miss out in the CL Drop outs, which could include the likes of Barca, Ajax, etc

We could play me and you upfront and win this 3-0 based off last week TBH. They are awful.

It’ll be another strong line up, so those plugging in Iqbal and some of our younger players will be disappointed. We need to win the next 2 to guarantee qualification and ten Hag won’t risk that.

Last year’s first XI should be good enough to win the match. Bruno and Eriksen need a rest though.
