AWB-Lindelof-Maguire-Shaw scares me. Hopefully we get it done today. Is Casemiro playing?

Not quite as simple as that. If you take out the drubbing we got at Highbury, we’ve conceded 4 goals since 10 October. Since we switched to a 433 formation we’re pretty solid at the back.

Imagine trying to point out a lack of balance in someone's post then ignoring there being 6 weeks without a game in your "tight defence" run.

Is there anyone on here not aware that there was a Winter break and why? Some things I just assumed didn’t need to be said?

We are a lot better then people think, 3 goals conceded in November - clean sheets against Spurs, Palace and Liverpool. There is definitely a mistake in us and Worrall is prone to them (Garnacho against Worrall is frightening) but our tactic seems to be pack the centre, force attackers out wide and deal with the crosses into the box. The thing I’d worry about is an early goal conceded and be forced to chase the game - Then we could get a mauling. If we are on level terms at half time, I think we could nick it.
Well... the thing is we have been scoring most of our goals this season through quick one touch passing in the box or hitting teams on the break. Crossing is less of our thing this season, especially when CR7 isn't playing and he isn't going to be anymore.

If they're fit, no excuse for Varane and Martinez not to be in this. Martinez didn't even play in the final FFS.

He's going to have the game of his life today, isn't he?

Edit: thought i was in the Lingard thread.

Qualified that. Not even sure you can call it statistically significant. Out of the Top 10 only Chelsea have scored less than us.

I think we'll be without Dalot, Varane, and Martinez (maybe it's even confirmed but I haven't checked). Would hope at least Maguire is back. I also expect EtH to start Malacia at RB rather than AWB, but we shall see:

    de Gea
    Malacia Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    Casemiro Eriksen
    Antony Bruno Rashford
    Martial

Can't see much different than that other than AWB or Martinez if he's back. I didn't mind us starting with a midfield player in defence for the League Cup, but I'd rather we didn't here unless it's absolutely impossible not to.

No disrespect to Forest as I think they're a bit better than the table says, but this really should be at least a 3-0 game for us at home. We simply have not killed enough teams this season when we've played well. Have to start doing it soon if we want to shift this goal difference.

Got a feeling we’ll win this quite comfortably, we’ve not killed enough teams of this season so here’s hoping we start tonight! 4-0. Rashford twice, martial and Fernandes.

You'd expect a defence without Dalot, Varane and Martinez to be shaky so to get 3 points is most important, performance not as much.

Yes result over performance with so many first choice defenders out.

Do well to keep a clean sheet so will likely require 2 or 3 goals in order to win tonight and the latter is rare nowadays for United.

It's a strange stat to quote though, bearing in mind the vast majority of that time (since oct 10) you've had no games.

You know Coops is going to quote the Lingard thread on here as part of the pre-match team talk? All those warm words and hearfelt love and affection……

Varane played 120 minutes of the final and is now back in the starting XI. Is Licha who didn’t play a single minute still celebrating back home?

4 conceded in 6, over the last 7 matches we’re 9th in the form table. Why the issue - everyone is in the same boat - stats don’t suddenly become null and void because of the WC break?

    Probably still pissed.

I mean , one of the won a WC and one lost it....

Also i highly doubt varane is back for this one

I would be amazed if Varane is back in the 11 already, but it must be either that or Casemiro still in the back four.

Or they’re just fishing for retweets and it’s something dumb like Malacia at right back, which should surprise no one.
