5/10 half in general possession play, sloppy passing, Fred and Cas seem to be misplacing every second ball, little attacking flow. However for the first time in years it feels as if Utd are built to come through tough periods, keep their composure and punish teams for not taking advantage of their periods of superiority.

Cas is such a big game player it is absurd, as mentioned hasn't had a great game on the ball but his defensive work is virtually peerless in midfield and comes up with a match changing moment at the other end. Varane and Licha doing so well against a good Newcastle team as well.

Normally they give it to the attacking player when they're that close, bit odd they've bucked that trend in this game.

Personally don't think it should ever be an OG unless it's something like sliding it into your own net. Always feels very harsh on the defender.

To be “fair”, it’s not only here, that reaction from Joelington is quite typical of what you see in the Brazilian league as well, when a player is seen to be showboating. But when you think about it, it’s absolutely absurd wherever it is, thinking it’s fine to hurt a player because he’s showing skill.

Not sure but we were also 2-0 up at half time in the last League Cup final we were in against Southampton . They scored twice in the second half before we won it. Hopefully we don't make the same mistake because my heart can't take it!

The boys have been ok. Weghorst and Rashford have been the men this first half. Fred hasn't been bad at all but I expect an improved performance from him second half as usual. I'd have picked Wan Bissaka over Dalot, but his performance has been simple and just ok.
