Also Evans must be one of the worst players we have ever had in terms of technical ability.

Essentially we're playing with two #9s, which doesn't give us the same variety in attack.

Good half. Comfortable, dominant, just felt like at the end we weren't really going for more goals. We need to learn to keep going and score as many as possible, we're capable of getting another 2 or 3 goals here.

Completely agree. These three in attack with Di Maria, Carrick and Herrera in midfield is our best team.

Rooney, Mata and Falcao would also be the most unselfish attack ever. Especially Rooney and Mata who always look for a pass.

One of the rare times we look so comfortable in a 3-5-2. We're still having the occasional blip, mind, but the defenders seem to know what they're doing most of the time.

Rooney, Young and Mata have been magnificent today.

If we grab another goal, I'd like to see Pereira given a run out. If Fletch gets on ahead of him I think I'll lose my mind.

Rooney needs to play where he is. Schweinsteiger'd eh like the other thread says. With his increase in fitness (and slimness hah) you can see that the defenders find it so hard to track his late runs into the box which will also suit Mata. Not to mention having other strikers out there to drag away the central defenders.

Plus Rooney will see more of the ball, can help out the defence and influence the play which will see him less frustrated in tight games.

Defence has looked pretty good though apart from that Evans blunder. Newcastle should have got a penalty too, ref's just been a bit poor today.

Missed the first twenty minutes or so, but I've liked what I have seen so far. Seemed to be fairly comfortable overall. Mata is playing well and Rooney's runs from midfield into the box are catching Newcastle out. That is something we haven't really had from a midfielder in a long time, so it is nice to see that threat from Rooney paying off.

Very pleased with the first half, that was about as far from the cak we served up at Villa as the North pole is from the South. There was a lot more composure on the ball. Yes, we started slow but once the team got into a rhythm you could see the idea. Very impressed by the positions players are taking up when we attack. We still have a tendency to go wide but our forwards are running the inside left and right channels well, which is opening up the space for Rooney to make late runs into the box from deep. In short, keep it up lads.

I'll admit that while we look comfortable going forward we still look nervy when on the defensive. But we've a good lead and don't need to press the issue, we can play at our own pace.

I'll agree about Falcao, he's done a lot of running today and has looked very lively. All he needs to do now is hit the back of the net.

Business as usual. Some great teamplay goals today and its heartening to see how much we have improved since last year.

Even in this unforsaken 3-5-2 formation we have the ability to tear apart teams with ease at Old Trafford.

Falcao has been almost unplayable in the first half. Reminiscent of a certain Mr. Van Nistelrooy. Had a hand in both the goals. Impressed with how he helped win the ball back for the second goal.

Rooney also doing his best impression of Paul Scholes with the perfectly timed runs from midfield. Seems like the day off has really done this team a world of good. They look energized and focused.

All this and we still need to fit ADM back into the side! Exciting times and some tough decisions for LVG to make.

We have two tough away matches in succession so I wouldn't be surprised to see some substitutes in the second half.

Very good half that. Mata has been outstanding along with Rooney and Young. Falcao is improving and Jones has looked very solid in defence. Evans and McNair aren't on the same wavelength but overall, no complaints.
