Keepers saving penalties is one thing and I almost don't mind that. But there's no excuse for professional players to ever miss the target from the spot! Hit the bloody target that's all you've got to do. If the keeper saves it fair play.

The league cup is a better tournament without us though. At least there's no guaranteed 0-0 bore draw in the next round.

absolutely hate Rooney. I'm sure he hates us as well. He was always a blue

    Our 300 k man

hahahhahahah we are so bad its amazing
This thread has made this loss incredible. Thanks for the banter lads. Until next time.

Yeah thanks for a ruined evening. One fecking goal in 120mins + 4 pens? At home? Vs. a Championship side? Come on...that is just so poor.

Typical English penalties those, utterly pathetic.

Why on earth are Carrick and Young taking them in the first place? Not that it matters, Romero is not a keeper I would ever back to save a penalty. One of those who always manages to go the wrong way.
He guessed right on three outta the four.

Its the League Cup. Just enjoy the comedy of it all. From the pundits to the match itself.

Very entertaining stuff, barely any of it for football reasons but good TV is good TV.

We cant score in open play or during 90 minutes (or 120 minutes). Is anybody else shocked we couldnt score penalties?!

This thread should go in classics tbh.

We started with the wrong attitude and got what we deserved. Some decent performances, some loony official decisions - but clowns. You start like that, you let teams like Boro gain confidence. We did the same shit against Newcastle at home. We gave them so much confidence by not looking to score early on.

3 full English internationals fail to score their penalties while a young Brazil under 21 international nails his. Never expected to write that sentence.
England internationals missing penalties shouldn't really be unexpected.

Only Periera and Lingard comes out of this shambles with their head held high. Defence did their job. Rest of all should hang their heads in shame.

Maybe LvG is also to be blamed for castrating our attacking players of all their attacking flair and his possesion bollocks!

I'm disgusted because we are not scoring but fair play to boro they are a proper cup team. I wish they would have scored early in the game so we would actually go at them more instead of the last 3 mins in regulation on at the end of extra time

Louis is going to do his nut.

A lot of people don't realise that LVG can really lose it badly.
And right now, I think he is delivering the hair dryer on full blast.
He may even drop his pants and tell everybody to check out the size of his balls.

It was like watching us under Moyes two seasons ago.

Thank f*ck I opted out of going to Capital One Cup games and watched it on a river.

Wonder if any journalist will dare ask LVG about Rooney tonight?

What odds would you get on him not breaking Charlton's record? I think scoring another 14 goals for Manchester United is a huge challenge for him now.

Fecking bullshit. We shouldn't even have needed penalties to beat Boro at home! fecking shit performance, just awful. Good job.

Ashley Young as well, goalkeeper dives same way three times. Still hits it to his left.

    Moron.

tbf you would expect he choses different side this time anyway how calm and well taken penalty it was from 19yo Andreas Pereira who sent goalkeeper the other way...

I thought when Ashley Young came on that LVG made a mistake there. Should have left Rojo and saved the subs for one of Herrera or Mata - who would have scored their penalty.

No matter, that personnel out there should have won that game. No excuses for losing this.

well it probably won't be, as it'd take Middlesborough missing a sh!Tload to give us the chance to take so many!

have a bad feeling Rooney will miss the decisive one, and we'll have to deal with another 37 threads over the next week about him

I don't know which of us jinxed this harder.

    Cue the Rooney threads.
