It's not just carrick and fellaini that make the midfield bad but when you throw in limited mata you just know the manager is a troll.

Or that he's been informed that the game's up for him at the end of the season and he's taking the piss.

Let's see what the atmosphere is like tonight. It pains me to admit it but it was spectacular last week.

I can't believe he's put Carrick and Fellaini in midfield???? We're fecked!!

This is an absolutely awful feeling when you see the line-up and you know that there is no hope of your team playing nice football today. LVG is a fecking lunatic, starting Fellaini, again (and again and again), while having Schmidfield on the bench...

And what's with Herrera? Is he injured?

Muscle strain in training apparently, so he's not playing as a precaution.

Slight injury in training. Tight groin it seems.

I love Carrick but energy in midfield was a must for this game. Schneiderlin and Herrera had to start. And pairing him with Fellaini does him no favours at all. I think Depay should be starting as well.

To tell you the truth, I only missed one player in my team prediction tonight, and that is Rashford, so I read LVG's mind on this!

If I had based my selection on my choice it would have been different for sure.

The vice-captain replaces the injured Alberto Moreno in the only change the Reds have made from last week’s initial meeting at Anfield.
Liverpool: Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Sakho, Milner, Can, Henderson, Lallana, Firmino, Coutinho, Sturridge. Subs: Ward, Toure, Smith, Benteke, Allen, Origi, Ibe.

I hope we can get a result, highly doubt it though with Carrick and Fellaini on recent showings.

Oh well at least we can focus on the.......FA Cup replay.

Im sorry but if we somehow win, or even advance it will be as a result of good fortune. LVG has learned nothing, and if somehow this lineup works today all it will be doing is prolonging the inevitable.

I hate this... Just absolutely hate it.

Is it true we have only won 18% of our games this season when Fellaini starts?

    Just seen on twatter

    Win % with Schneiderlin : 86%
    Win % with Fellaini : 18%

I just checked with the CL, EL and EPL. Fellaini won 5 games out of 21.

I think its fair to say that were not a happy bunch with that line up, that is a terrible midfield. We just have to hope for the best but I would say its a very very slim chance of us going through. I think everybody but LVG can see that midfield is the wrong set up. He has ruined what little crumb of hope I had for this game. Anyway just have to hope the unexpected happens.

    HERRERA SIDELINED
We can confirm that Ander Herrera misses tonight's game with a tight groin. Van Gaal said: "He was in the squad but we did not want to risk him."

I just hope we get some sort of result and performance, because I dread the atmosphere otherwise. It has been nasty previously, this could be on another level.
At this point I really don't care anymore. Whatever gets him out of the club is ok by me,he shouldn't expect otherwise considering what he has served up.He has built a team that cannot genuinely play football,he should feck off to his mansion in Portugal where he would be remembered as just another ordinary manager.

    Aye that stat is horrible.

Mind you lets not paint Schneiderlin as a must starter. He's been pretty terrible so far.

If Fellaini is in his Everton moods (remember how he played against us!!) we'll trash them!!

    3-0.

    A man's allowed to dream.

Of the three possible match scenarios, I actually feel the middle one (a borefest with not much happening) is the least likely. We'll either put on a show and beat them - or we'll get a repeat of the Anfield match.

I'm not saying Herrera should be risked, but it's funny how VG uses his philosophy of protecting players and easing them back when certain players are even slightly injured. Yet he will bypass this philosophy and throw certain other players back into the starting 11 as soon as they are even close to being for. Fellaini is an example.

He ends up bypassing this rule mainly for players that make us shitter when they come back in.

The dreaded Carrick - Fellaini midfield combo again  Jesus fecking Christ....it's beyond tragic.
