In the 80s we had men in the team.
Like Robson, Hughes, Whiteside, McGrath, Moran etc etc. Warriors.
And Russell Beardsmore - what a match that was 3-1 in '89 ?!
One Nil down then score 3 goals in 6 minutes - must be one of the best short spells and against a top Liverpool side - so why can't we beat them ? of course we can but we need everyone to make the maximum effort (Rashford!) and the crowd fired up.

He wanted a new challenge. How do you think we’ve always beat city under Solskjær. By counter attacking. That’s the only way to beat the top 3 I think you mean. We beat all this seasons top 3 last season at home. So I don’t know what you’re on about.

Casemiro wasn't quite so crocked at the start of last season. Later on it became clear he was too old and now it's obvious to any idiot with eyes.

Fair enough. That still doesn’t explain your comment about you can’t win against the top 3 by counter attacking when that’s in fact the only way we can win against them. We can’t go head to head with any of them.

Out of possession a Case/Mainoo midfield is so vulnerable against Liverpool.

Need an extra body in there.

Case was terrible with the ball against a poor Everton side as well.

People were saying that they were unimpressed with Onana, and he wasn't great, but he was still better than Case that day.

Well counter attacking is our current least worst option but only because we're not very good. We saw how it played out against City. We got a good goal on the counter but then once we annoyed them we didn't see the ball again and they battered us as we ran out of energy chasing it.

Seems to me that ETH has not brought in the system he wants because he doesn't have good enough players to make it work in the EPL. If Martinez and Hojlund and Shaw are fit and Casemiro is replaced with someone equally tactically adept but with high energy (Declan Rice for eg) then just maybe he has a chance.

Liverpool haven't beaten us away in the competition since 12 January 1921.
Actually our record v them in the cup is pretty decent.
18 matches 10 wins 4 draws (when matches had replays) and only 4 defeats
I know that this should make me feel optimistic, but I just know that it will probably be another record broken under EtH.

I really hope that it isn’t, though. I really do. I’m feeling as pessimistic as hell going into this game, would be nice to be proven wrong.

So it wasn’t one result was it.

I guess you meant home games only but even then we have one won like 2 of the last 5 (4 of the last 10) and there was a 4-2 defeat prior to the 0-5 as well.

To be fair, the post you quoted literally began with "Our results at Old Trafford..."

Given he also specified "against Klopp's Liverpool", the record is W3 D4 L2, which I think very much falls under the umbrella of not being "that bad".

We are going to dry bum these pricks tomorrow, I'm looking forward to it.

Fingers and toes crossed United can add to that record with a positive result tomorrow.

Can we spike their inhalers, get them high and play the Benny Hill theme tune while racking up a 10-0 win?

It'll be known as the Stoned Trafford caper.
Delay the match unexpectedly like the CL final v’s Real Madrid. Messed up their ‘energy levels’ that one.

Casemiro is out injured. He has been replaced by Brazil for the upcoming matches.
