So will VDB be in Bruno’s position or CM ?

I presume Pogba and McTom will be the duo

I honestly didn't expect both teams to play a relatively strong sides. Ok 5 subs. Maybe 1 team is looking at a few goals up then bring players off.
I thought Hendo would start and VDB. But Pogba I thought he would be rested maybe hes in form keep him going not a bad shout. Telles may start mid week . Just get through lads

Is there a way we can petition to the club social media team to STOP putting the lineup in numerical order! It pisses me off to no end!!!
Otherwise, great team put out. :D

agreed, always takes me a minute to try and make sense of where everyone is playing

Wonder what the midfield formation is. Pogba or VDB of 10?
I think DVB will be asked to play the Bruno role. Pogba is settling well in that box-to-box role and I don’t think Ole will want to change that.

Happy with that lineup, maybe would've swapped out McT for Fred. Ole has shown a lot of trust in both VdB and Pogba to start them over the tried and tested McFred partnership in the big games, hope it pays off. VdB's precise passes can cause that defense some problems with much better forwards ahead of him than Lingard and James. If he can't impose himself as a 10, we can drop him at 8 and let Pogba go further forward.

Don’t know if I’ve missed this but is Bailly injured or just not in the squad completely?

Thought he would have been on the bench at least.

I hope we are a bit more adventurous this time round than what we were in the last match against liverpool aside from the last 20 minutes.

    Similar strength lineups.
Their bench is weak. Basically Mane and the rest b or c listers.

Need a win today. And also to show we can actually score a non pen against a bigger team.

Hopefully VDB has a good game. Surprised Cavani is playing as thought he'd play in midweek instead so it'll just be the other way around.

On paper, we do have the stronger bench which could prove to be the difference today.

I'm surprised Cavani starts, really hope he wont be benched vs Sheffield now.

Good lineup. Chance for VDB to shine. Didn't expect Cavani to start but hopefully we wont need him midweek.

Me too. I really think Cavani should be our premier league striker now. Maybe he'll start against Sheff, too, but we really need to be careful of not overusing him.

I don't think I would. Think Pogba from deep can really punish a team like Liverpool who will press up the pitch. Not only with his long-range passing but his ability to drive with the ball. VDB, on the other hand, tends to find clever positions in the final third and picks up his fair share of goals.

Yeah fair point actually, just want to see more from VDB, but he's playing with first team players today so hopefully that'll help see the best of him.

Ya I always have to go looking for Shaw and AWB

    Right I'm going 2-1.

Cavani. Firmino. Then Greenwood with the winner.

Interesting lineups, both teams going for it while keeping one eye on resting key players. Feel like Van de Beek will be the make or break for us today.

Surprised at no Matic, and that Greenwood is starting... and no Telles too. Don't think this is the game for Greenwood, definitely not on the right. Hoping it's VdB deep with McTominay and Pogba as the 10.

Williams is strong in the air.

We need to be working that inside left channel, between TAA and Williams. Rashford could make them look silly.

Only criticism is mctominay and Pogba never look like a good midfield duo.

Ole said last week we tried too many Hollywood passes, a real chance for Donny to show an alternative approach.

We could hit two birds with one stone today.

Not only knock them out of the Cup but dent their moral for the Premiership race.

On paper our starting 11 looks like it could do more damage then theirs but it will all depend on which United decide to show up today. Fingers crossed.

Happy with the team. Thought maybe Telles would get a run out and give Shaw a break, but aside from him, and maybe Matic its what I expected.

Who’s nervous and excited or is it apathy because it’s a ‘nothing trophy?’

Alisson? Klopp wants to win at all cost. Would be great to be able to win this one...
