Rojo injured! Nice to see he's fully established himself as a United CB then.

    -----------------Jones-----------------
    Johnson--Skrtel--Lovren--Moreno
    ------------Hendo..Allen--------------
    ---------------Gerrard-----------------
    --Lallana---Sterling---Coutinho---

Jones for Ming and Hendo for Lucas are just crazy. Talk of 3 at the back too.

It seems like everyone is going for three at the back with Moreno and Henderson at wing backs. No Lucas is crazy, although I'm fine with Jones starting. Mignolet would have a shocker starting a game like this.

The front three should be interesting. I think it's probably the best we could go with considering Lambert looked shattered against Basel and I wouldn't throw Balotelli back in straight away. He'd probably let the occasion get to him.

People saying that doesnt look like a 352 but if anything we could have Carrick play really deep making a three :nervous:

I'd imagine it's a back three. We seem to have been playing the 3-5-2 since Shaw got injured seeing as we don't have any full-backs, so this system enables the R + L sided CBs to go wider and cover/help Valencia and Young.

But if we are playing that system I much prefer Carrick to be in the centre of the three than anyone else. When he went back there against Southampton we looked a lot better (not great, but an improvement on terrible) having a ball player controlling from the back, rather than Smalling being the player in that role.

    Valencia----Jones----Evans-----Young
    ---------Fellaini----Carrick-----------------
    ----Wilson-----Rooney------Mata------
    ---------------RVP----

    ???

    Am worried :(

I fear that Henderson and Allen will leave Fellaini and Mata ragged in midfield. They can run for days.

    Big Sam's comments

"I laughed because I couldnt thump him, I wanted to but i couldnt so I laughed to embarrass him"

Looks to me like the 4-1-3-2 we played a few games ago, does nobody else agree?

    Valencia----Jones----Evans-----Young

    ----Wilson-----Rooney------Mata------

Mata in left wing brings flashbacks of the David Moyes days

    What formation is that? 433?
    ...or 4-1-2-1-2

    Pessimistic prediction from me:

Evans or Jones to be off injured before half time and the best laid plans go to waste.

If it's a diamond then it means either Mata or Rooney paying deep in the midfield. Had Herrera started for either Mata or Wilson I'd have been a bit happier.

I'd say it's a diamond with Rooney at the top, Carrick holding and Fellaini and Mata at the sides.

I just hope Fellaini dosnt do like last game because if he does it got be hurtful for Herrera.

Not the lineup that I would've chosen but with all our injuries I guess we'll have to make do.

So you do have to ask yourself now are some of these injuries down to LvG's training methods? Because we've had too many just to call it unlucky or coincidental in my opinion now.

FFs sake with Jones and Evans at the back its a certainty we`ll give a few penalties away, Im not looking forward to this now

I hope too, Jones & Evan do not inspire me much with wingers as full-backs. Let's hope they play well **fingers crossed**
Yeah, I don't think I remember a single game with those two playing well as a partnership. Actually I can't remember how many times they've played together at all... hopefully that means I've forgotten some good performances :wenger:

I think it unlikely that it's a 3-4-1-2 as Fellaini would be the deepest of the CMs which is not how LVG has deployed him. More likely to be a diamond/4-1-3-2 with Mata left, Fellaini right.

I too would like Herrera starting but it would have been at the expense of Wilson or RVP. Mata is there as a LCM/LAM
